There’s something so sweet about seeing a smartass getting off their high horse. And the subreddit “Don't you know who I am?” is giving us a rare glimpse into multiple such occasions. Created on the 21st of June, 2015, the community has grown to 429,000 members who play a part in collecting all the internet’s “gotcha’s!” gone wrong.
“This is a place for instances of people not realizing who they're talking to is who they're talking about,” says the description, and you must already know what to expect. Like, the embarrassing moment when a recruiter rejects a job candidate and sends him some “write-ups to study to get an understanding of the process” only to find out that those were written by that very candidate.
The level of cluelessness in this post is dangerously high, but this is what makes it particularly funny. So, buckle up, we’re about to feast on some hand-picked Don't you know who I am?’s.

So much this. I have come across more than one family who refuse to have thier child assessed for autism or to facilitate thier neuro diverse needs becuase they dont want the child to be "labelled" and "s/he just needs to learn" and "i refuse to accept there is anything wrong with him/her". Of course there is nothing wrong with your kid, but you are doing them a disservice by not learning about and supporting thier needs - and you begin this by assessing what thier needs are. Autism is not a death sentence.

As someone with mild autism, I can say it's hurtful to see people think something is wrong with me just because I can't handle some things, like social situations, as well as others. I understand some autistic people need lots of help in life, but all of us could go without being told it's because of vaccines.

I think that if some is stupid enough to not vaccinate their children and their children catch whatever preventable disease and infect someone else and that person dies, then the stupid parent, the one who would not vaccinate their child, should be charged, at least, with manslaughter.

If vaccines caused autism, then why weren’t there mass cases of autism when vaccines first started against smallpox in the 18th Century? There are a number of vaccines available that make life so much easier for us. You can get a vaccine to ward off the Plague in places where it still exists. When was the last case of polio? Measles was all but eradicated in the US until these morons started their vaccines cause autism BS. People are utterly selfish.

The vaccine autism link only came about because of a study by Andrew Wakefield about the triple vaccine, MMR. He lied for financial gain. He was struck off. However, the harm was done and people got scared. At the time it was understandable, it needed checking and it was, so it isn't understandable anymore when the facts are very clearly known and easy to find (published results from studies). Since then it has been proven to be rubbish numerous times. This doesn't seem to penetrate some people's thick skulls.

My son didn't get his mmr vaccine until a bit later in his life (medical reasons) guess what? He has autism and was diagnosed before he got his mmr!! Always gets a shocked silence when I tell anti vaxxers this

I can feel the burn from this one!! Why do people assume musicians and actors are uneducated? Most of today’s artists have degrees in their field (music, theatre), a liberal arts degree or some other such. Many have masters or higher. Granted, there are also many drop-outs, but lumping all artists as dumb really sets yourself up for this kind of burn.

To find out more about the “Don’t You Know Who I Am” subreddit, Bored Panda reached out to its moderator u/Acoustag, who took over as a head moderator around a year ago since the team at the time didn’t have time to maintain the subreddit any longer. u/Acoustag is now in charge of day-to-day operations of the subreddit.
“At the moment, we average around 20 new posts per day, but usually half or less of those actually get approved,” he said. Turns out, the sub had an issue with mass reposting of content in the past, but the mod team has now solved that.
Meanwhile, they try to keep the content fresh. “Certain niche subreddits like ours definitely struggle for new content, though. There are only so many 'Don't You Know Who I Am?' interactions happening each day,” u/Acoustag explained.

I was listening to the (very interesting) podcast You're Wrong About the other day and there was an episode about the 'American Taliban' John Walker Lindh. One interesting note was that, pre-9/11, this young American from a Christian family found Islam and went to Yemen to learn Arabic and his parents were pretty supportive. At the time, the parents were happy that he had found religion and didn't see Islam as being so different to Christianity. Which it isn't, in many ways.

Turns out that the viral “Tony Hawk” posts where people don't recognize the legendary skater were the ones that inspired the whole “Don’t You Know Who I Am” concept.
“They definitely started it all for me. Tony holds a special place of reverence in the heart of our community. Just google 'Tony Hawk not recognized Twitter' and you'll find tales of many confused strangers suggesting that Tony Hawk must be related to the skateboarder, Tony Hawk. Or Tony Hawk looks like the skateboarder, Tony Hawk. It's all so ridiculous.”
The overall content in the subreddit is best defined as "light-hearted fun," said the mod. “We're not looking to shame people for acting important, or to 'call them out' for not recognizing somebody important.”

Having said that, some interactions can indeed get a little heavy. Like, “involving gender, race, religion, etc.—we aim to keep the discussion clean & civil, and remind our community that most posts here boil down to an 'Oops! I didn't realize!' moment.”
Today, the subreddit has loosened some of the posting rules to allow for more content (posts no longer require well-known people). At the same time, the team “cracked down on reposting rules due to karma-farming accounts. We've held polls in the past to see what changes the community would like to see, but everyone seems to like it as it is,” u/Acoustag concluded.

In Ontario Naturopaths are regulated and their college supports science and vaccines. They actually need a Bsc before getting into Naturopathic school here. A good ND (mine is fantastic) truly supports allopathic (regular) medicine and believes in using natural and homeopathic remedies as a supplement to it. There are many people out their claiming to be natural practitioners who are not part of their college

Thank you for saying this. Actual Naturopathic Doctors, who have earned an ND degree, are licensed and accredited physicians. They can do everything an MD can, including prescribing medication. In fact, they have as many hours of pharmaceutical education as MDs. Unfortunately, there are still some states in the US that choose not to regulate their medical professionals well, and that allows some people to call themselves "naturopaths" without any qualifications. Those people are charlatans. But actual NDs are well-educated, qualified medical practitioners. There is a huge difference.

I just walked two miles last week woth my mask on. I did not have to but did it just in case anyone walked by and I didn't want to take it on and off. A little uncomfortable but that is it. If I had a breathing issue it could have been a problem, so I can't speak for others individually. I had a college professor whom I emailed prior to classes to ask what literature I would need to purchase for the class as he hadn't posted a syllabus. His first PARAGRAPH was used to demolish me for calling him sir instead of Doctor. He then warned if appropriate respect was not shown in the future I would be removed from his class. He had no syllabus, no introduction, etc. it was an online class and my information merely had his first and last name. Wowza....still aced his stupid class, but what a pretentious jerk!

When I have patients who have an MD or a PhD, I call them "doctor," and if we get to chatting, I tell them if they want, they can call me "doctor," too, because I have a PhD in Religion. I don't work as a technician for fun. There are no jobs.

It can depend on the individual, however, as a Marine vet myself, I don't like being called a soldier. We are Marines, not soldiers. Our title is earned. I was once told that you can be a soldier in anyone's army of whatever, but Marines are something special. My experience has been that most Marines care & less don't care.

In the reply, I don't know that it would jump out at the recuiter that he was saying he wrote that write-up. Saying " I am literally that guy" might just go over their heads and not even try to interpret it literally. Also, the horrible punctuation and grammar in the resonse would not lend itself to a message that the recruiter is likely to pour over in great detail. They would probably give it the briefest of glances and dismiss it without thought. Not a great comback on D's part.

Yeah... this is just the same person writing to himself, to promote his website. The 'recruiter' and the 'applicant' both have bad grammar ('Thank you for apply'? 'You future applications'?) and don't put full stops at the end of their paragraphs. They also have trouble capitalising here and there when they should/shouldn't. It feels pretty obvious

I was once employed as a butler and was tasked once with looking after the Queen. Standing out the front of Government House was a crowd of royalists awaiting Her Majesty. I had been for a run & was returning to work. As I moved through the crowds, looking dishevelled from the run, I was met with comments like "show some respect, get dressed, the Queen is coming". Safe to say they were very surprised when the gate was opened upon my arrival & I strolled straight through security.

Not quite sure what clapping for the NHS accomplished anyway. They need actual help. The UK government offered £10, 000 to each of the MPs for "additional office costs" during the first Covid lockdown on top of the £26,000 MPs can claim to cover office costs. Apparently, it was for things like extra computers and printers, but in my humble opinion, the NHS needed it more.

They were offered the money to make sure they could support their constituents effectively during the lockdown. They did not ask for it and they did not have to take it if they didn't need it. It's a completely separate matter that didn't need bringing up here. In the early days there was a mad scramble across the world for PPE and our government got as much as it could as soon as it could. Like every other. Clapping for our carers was a shallow empty gesture considering the cases have risen and we passed 100k deaths in the UK today. If we'd really wanted to help them, the entire nation would have stuck to the rules and not been the selfish idiots some were.

I went outside every week and clapped to show my gratitude, along with most of my neighbours. It was 5 minutes or less, once a week, and since it was not amplified, it wouldn't have kept anyone awake. Along with other people I also had signs in my window saying Thank you NHS. Over those few weeks I saw several comments from local NHS staff saying how they appreciated this. I don't have money to donate, so how else would I express my thanks?

Its a blind or double blind process. The reviewer never gets to know who you are unless the topic is so specific it could only be you. Now the editors of the journal know who you are and may override, but that doesn't seem like they did so here. That would be who you would talk to

There's a Czech politician who's made this mistake TWICE.
