50 Times People Embarrassed Themselves Because They Didn’t Realize Who They Were Talking To

So much this. I have come across more than one family who refuse to have thier child assessed for autism or to facilitate thier neuro diverse needs becuase they dont want the child to be "labelled" and "s/he just needs to learn" and "i refuse to accept there is anything wrong with him/her". Of course there is nothing wrong with your kid, but you are doing them a disservice by not learning about and supporting thier needs - and you begin this by assessing what thier needs are. Autism is not a death sentence.

What I don't get is the logic that the doctors who recommend the vaccines are all vaccinated. "Big Pharma" is full of vaccinated people....if vaccines really caused autism (which of course they don't) then why the heck would doctors and nurses all vaccinate themselves and their children?

as someone with autism i can confirm that having autism isn't as bad as being dead its not even that bad

I'm autistic, it's in no way "fun", little to no resources for help, you learn to live with it, it sucks. I'm pretty sure it wasn't the vacines I have had and even if it is, it's better than death

also: Having Autism isn't a bad thing!! People with autism are just as likely as neurotipycalls to succeed in life! Even more, actually!

One of my best friends has autism. My friend is one of the best people I know. My friend’s sister also has autism. You know what? It’s so much better than dying. (I’m calling my friend just my friend in case any of this info can somehow be used against them. I know I’m a little over worried but whatever. Also I wouldn’t know how bad it is cause I don’t have autism. Anyways, my point is that autistic people are people, and also that my friend is awesome 😉)

here is the better way to deal with those people. Amuse them, say "ok we assume you are correct, and that 1:100 will get somewhere on the spectrum, with only 1:2500 noticeable. Now still assuming you are correct, 1:80 children who get Measles will get severe brain damage for life. So even if you are correct, which is better, mild autism on the spectrum or severe brain damage"

my brother has autism and i probably do too... we're totally fine, it's not too bad. i have tons of friends. my brother is a bit nervous around new people, but he has friends. we have a good life and we'd rather NOT die... my mom is not an anti-vaxxer, we have all our shots. it's not the vaccines, though.

Unfortunately, in some countries, there isn't no health care system and no back up from the state to help these children and of course the family. So, no schools, no teachers.. so the parents are helpless..

I have seen alot of children with autism in my line of work and as horrible as it sounds. Dying sometimes or risk of contracting the disease might be better. Some are so far gone they don’t know what they doing or saying and constantly hurt themselves or other people.

The vaccine autism link only came about because of a study by Andrew Wakefield about the triple vaccine, MMR. He lied for financial gain. He was struck off. However, the harm was done and people got scared. At the time it was understandable, it needed checking and it was, so it isn't understandable anymore when the facts are very clearly known and easy to find (published results from studies). Since then it has been proven to be rubbish numerous times. This doesn't seem to penetrate some people's thick skulls.

Then he toddled of to another country and carried on preaching his total b*llocks. Despite the study being thoroughly discredited. Many attempts to replicate the results have been made and not once, not one single time, has anyone ever been able to. It is complete and utter rubbish and yet people still listen to him. Shame he couldn't have been locked up quite frankly - he's caused far more harm than he has ever done good.

Fear. They worry that they'll get a child very high on the spectrum. A friend of mine has a child who is severely affected, it isn't easy and her life has changed beyond all recognition. He is stage 3 - non verbal, extreme sensitivity to sounds and many repetitive behaviours such as door slamming. If they go to a mall with an escalator they can be there for ages because he will get loudly frustrated if he isn't allowed to go on it many, many times. He is nearly a full grown man - if he doesn't want to go somewhere she can't make him. For a while she was seriously depressed and struggled to cope. She still struggles to cope because it is tough. One day she will be too old to look after him and she'll have to place him in care and it worries her a lot that he may be badly cared for and unhappy. Sorry, you asked and I felt it deserved a proper answer. Facts still remain vaccines do not cause autism.

They don't. They get on with it. It's tiring constantly being criticised for parenting "wrong" when you have an autistic child, though. And I wonder why people act like a child not getting a vaccine is the end of the world? (Note well, my autistic child is fully vaccinated. I just get sick and tired of all the busybodies criticising parents).
