If she wants to live like that, that's her business. But, when it affects others, such as the Lyft driver, who may have had a genuine concern, it's not just about her any more. As for suing Lyft, I'm pretty confident that this was mostly about publicity for her social media presence and rap career. After all, her story made it all the way to the very conservative PB.

I think it's always worth being wary about acting like a free taxi for people. I had a similar situation where I went out of my way to give a co worker lifts home. Initially it was fine but after a while he stopped seeing it as a favour and started expecting it. The final straw was when he got really stroppy with me one day because I told him he couldn't have a lift as I needed to get home to pick my kids up from school, acted like his lift should come first and my kids could wait!!!!

The fact the husband seems so casual about lending the money seems very odd. If a neighbour came around to mine asking to borrow money just the once it would raise an eyebrow with me. As others have correctly said it's down to rarity. If you live somewhere where snowfall is a common thing then you tend to have the infrastructure and tools/ skills/ experience to deal with it. Where I come from in the UK snow is very uncommon. We get a heavy snowfall maybe once every three to four years. Although I have driven in the snow several times over my life I would only do it if absolutely necessary as it's not something I'm used to and not something I'm super confident doing.

This was something that totally threw me on my first visit to the States as I had no idea it was a thing. I almost had an argument with a cashier in NY when they asked me for more money than the advertised price, thought they were trying to con me 😂 My bad, I should have probably did my research a bit better before visiting (but in my defence something like this existing never even occurred to me). It is strange though. I know different states have different taxes but surely it can't be that hard to just include it in the overall advertised price because you end up paying anyway regardless.

I think Ragnarok took everyone (including Marvel/ Disney) by surprise as I get the feeling they were on the verge of reducing Thor to a supporting character in others movies. Problem was they seemed to then think it worked because of the humour so leaned too heavily into that for Love & Thunder whereas Ragnarok balanced out the humour and drama more effectively. The wackiness of it really didn't fit for an actor like Bale.

Chain mail seems to be so useless in movies that it almost seems pointless to wear it. Swords seems to slice through it like it's not even there whereas in reality chain mail was apparently extremely effective protection.

I have zero experience with guns but one I always find strange in movies is when someone is just handling a gun (not firing it) it makes these strange clicking sounds, almost as if the parts of the gun don't fit together properly. Perhaps real guns do that, I don't know, but it seems odd that they would.

I remember once when I was in Vegas, my first time there, and my wife and I were staying in the Bellagio. We were standing in the foyer and my wife said she really wanted to go and get a picture with the "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign. A doorman overheard us and strongly suggested we get a taxi due to the distance. As this was literally our first day there we did as he said. We were in the taxi for a total of 5 minutes (+/ -). I can remember looking at my wife as if to say "this warranted a taxi ride"? I guessed it couldn't have been more than 2 miles in a straight line. When we arrived the driver asked us if we wanted him to wait to take us back. He looked aghast when we said no, we were going to walk it instead (and hit some casinos on the way obviously).

I'll probably get downvoted for this but here goes. I found this post quite depressing as a lot of it seems to have come from adults who haven't really grasped that change is a part of life. There's advantages and downsides to being a kid and advantages an downsides to being an adult, the way to cope is to be adaptable. I had a lot of adult responsibilities as a kid (which I won't go into as I just don't want to) so perhaps that (unbeknownst to me at the time) set me up for adult life in a way it didn't for others. I still had a childhood though. It's a bit of a cliche but also true in that life is what you make of it, regardless of age. Stressing because you now have to do laundry or pay bills achieves nothing but more stress and resentment that you can't turn back the clock. A lot of these posts seem to come from those who can't accept they aren't a kid anymore.

You've hit the nail on the head. I'm guessing you're from the UK (or Ireland) as my experience sounds the same as yours. I wasn't (and still aren't) interested in competitive sport like football or rugby but I was a half decent runner. Yet that was never even seen let alone encouraged in me. I hate to sound like a bitter old man (but eff it, I am) but PE teachers always came across to me as failed athletes trying to live vicariously through their pupils in the sport they personally had a connection to. Good at football? Great I used to play semi professionally. What do you need from me? Good at running? Don't care about that, how are the football guys doing?

One thing I've understood about schooling in hindsight is a LOT of it is just teaching you how to pass exams. The emphasis seems to be on learning chucks of information that can be parroted back based in an established testing curriculum rather than imparting the knowledge AND methods for problem solving in a real application of learned information. Totally agree. The problem with people like that is even if you reach out to them to find out where they are they're always "five minutes away" whereas in reality they probably haven't even left the house.
