The 97th annual Academy Awards ceremony is finally here!
Taking place at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles, the highly anticipated 2025 Oscars has commenced, and it’s no surprise that this year’s lineup of nominees is star-studded, to say the least.

But before the awards are announced, here are a few looks that caught our eyes as the attendees walked the iconic red carpet. For good or bad reasons — that’s up to you to decide. But in our books, these are the best-dressed celebrities of tonight!

Anok Yai
Anok Yai’s stylist knows exactly what they’re doing.
The bright, sheer texture and color of the model’s dress brings out her dark skin tone in a stunning way, and the black feathers don’t steal the gown’s spotlight, but accentuates it.
Selena Gomez
There’s really nothing to say — the picture speaks for itself.
Everything about Selena Gomez in this image screams Hollywood, and the rose gold color of her dress is something that has countless people fawning over.
“Just pure star power,” one person labeled her.
This is the blueprint for how celebrities should dress up during events.
Michelle Yeoh
It seems Michelle Yeoh is just incapable of wearing a bad — or mediocre — outfit, ever.
With blue as vibrant as a sapphire gem, the actress’s dress nicely hugged her body, with a separate portion trailing behind her. Yeoh’s bun and silver jewelry were also perfect choices for the look.
Marissa Bode
Practically every single one of Marissa Bode’s outfits have stunned audiences.
Wearing a gorgeous, commanding red with matching lips and shoes, the Wicked actress looked every bit as magical as her performance in the movie was.
I would love this if it went over her knees. I don't like that shape of dress.
Demi Moore
It’s a fit that radiates class, style, and confidence. Demi Moore dazzled in all silver with her floor-length gowned, that pooled favourably in a perfect half circle. Her matching accessories and flowy locks did well to finish off the look.
“I’m loving everything about this look!” said someone on X.
Jeff Goldblum
The Wizard of Oz himself certainly brought out his inner magic!
Jeff Goldblum sported a medley of purple, teal, white, and black in an outfit that just works perfectly. His stylist knew exactly what they were doing.
Janet Yang
It’s no surprise the first Asian American President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences would absolutely stun on the red carpet.
Wearing a somewhat tight-fitted white gown with hues of pink and green fine-line flowers, the 68-year-old topped it all off with an unforgettable dark magenta-red shawl that trailed to the floor, she certainly set the bar for those who would come after her.
I love trailing cape-type things, but maybe that's the long-standing love of fantasy-genre stuff in me XD
Lupita Nyong'o
Classy, elegant, beautiful. Three words that just perfectly describe Lupita Nyong’o — and the dress she wore.
It’s the added silver on her top, the embedded jewels, and the subtle bow that just do so much for her without being too attention-grabbing.
Ana De Armas
Sometimes a little texture is all you need to transform a simple black dress into something stunning — and that’s exactly what Ana de Armas did.
The Cuban-Spanish actress has an upcoming movie set to release later this year: Ballerina.
Cynthia Erivo
Cynthia Erivo looked wickedly captivating as she stepped out to the red carpet in a dark green Louis Vuitton dress that screamed Elphaba Thropp.
According to the actress herself, she made sure her outfit gave a dedicated nod to Oz.
“Fairyyyy godmother,” one person called her while multiple labeled her as, “MOTHER!”
Am I supposed to like her? Serious question. Because I've also heard stories where people report she's cruel and needlessly mean.
Lisa
Not everyone would have been able to rock this look, but Lisa certainly did. It’s a blend of femininity and masculinity, and it works perfectly with the singer’s simple hair.
The Blackpink member teamed up with Doja Cat and Raye for a James Bond medley during the ceremony.
Kim Seok Woo
Simple is the way to go! An elegant all-black outfit with matching shoes and a little bedazzle on the suit? It’s a perfect look that does everything it needs to command people’s attention.
Annabelle Wallis
Annabelle Wallis’s stunning blue dress pooled perfectly to the ground as she posed for the cameras, her golden hair a great contrast with the rest of her outfit.
And, of course, silver jewelry was the way to go.
She was there to support her boyfriend, Sebastian Stan, who had received his first Oscars nomination for his role in the biopic The Apprentice.
Ariana Grande
That’s our Glinda right there!
Ariana Grande has always paid tribute to Glinda the Good with her stunning outfits, but this one has to take the cake.
It quite literally looks as if she’s floating off the ground, with her signature pink top and the shining, champagne-colored ruffles of her skirt.
Andrew Garfield
Seems like Andrew Garfield used his Spidey senses to put together the perfect outfit for tonight!
In a matching chocolate set and a pair of shades, the actor stunning on the red carpet, while also bringing many audience members to tears while paying tribute to his fellow presenter Goldie Hawn.
Before presenting the award for Best Animated Film, Garfield turned towards Hawn and thanked her for giving “my mother the most joy, the most comfort” during her life. His mother had died of pancreatic cancer in 2019.
“I feel very lucky because I get to thank that person from the bottom of my heart. That person is Goldie Hawn,” he said while he held her hand. “You’ve given us movies full of joy. You’ve lifted our spirits and you’ve made us feel it all was right with the world, over and over again.”
Janine Rubenstein
The Editor-at-Large of People embodied class as the camera snapped pictures of her, wearing a glimmering floor-length dress that did everything to highlight her skin tones, dazzling smile, and perfect locks.
Julianne Hough
Julianne Hough channeled a glamorous, old-Hollywood vibe as she showed up to the red carpet, her striking gown and rosy red lips giving a major Marilyn Monroe feel to it all.
Mindy Kaling
The intricate design, the attention to detail in the texture of it all… it would be an insult not to put Mindy Kaling in best-dressed.
Although the actress isn’t wearing much jewelry, it works well, since her dress counts as both the outfit and the additional glam. The bun adds to the simplicity, and makes sure the audience never strays away from the main event: the gown.
Felicity Jones
We don’t know if it’s the lighting or the texture or the pose… but it quite literally looks as if Felicity Jones’s dress is melting to perfectly fit into her body. The sheer material of the outfit makes her shine and her simple accessories add the perfect final touch to it all.
Gal Gadot
Another star gracing the red carpet… in a stunning red.
The Wonder Woman actress was joined by her husband Jaron Varsano and was a presenter during the awards ceremony.
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus left her eyebrows behind as she showed up in a custom glittering black Alexander McQueen halter gown and lace gloves.
The singer, who bleached her eyebrows, was joined by her boyfriend Maxx Morando on the red carpet.
Zoe Saldaña
This dress probably wouldn’t have looked good on everyone… but it did on Zoe Saldana.
The extra ruffles of dark wine red and the glittering transparent top just do it for her. Topping it all off with a chain around her neck and see-through black gloves, Saldana’s outfit gives off an elegant, calm vibe to her person.
“OH MAMA THAT OSCAR IS YOURS,” exclaimed one person.
Hannah Stocking
This dress could’ve gone disastrously wrong. But it didn’t.
The tight fit to Stocking’s upper body and gorgeous flow down to the red carpet was eye-popping, to say the least.
Timothée Chalamet
As so many news outlets and social media users described it, Timothée Chalamet’s outfit looks like melted butter.
And as undesirable as that description may sound, it works so well for him. The look is simple but the color is eye-catching. Pair that off with casual black shoes and a great hairstylist, and you’ve got a solid fit.
Raye
It’s always the red, flowy, floor gowns that give off an aura of elegance and radiance.
Kristy Sarah
Two words here: The flowers!
The gorgeous purple and cream-colored roses dotting the lower half of Kristy Sarah’s dress definitely make the look for her.
Scarlett Johansson
Doja Cat
Absolutely yes.
This entire outfit just screams Doja Cat. What’s even better is that the singer somehow managed to make her hair match perfectly with the leopard-like print of the gown. The small train trailing behind her, along with the accessories on her neck just blend so seamlessly with the entire look.
Maria Taylor
Sometimes simple is the best way to go, and Maria Taylor showed us just that. With a clean-cut bob, long black dress that revealed her left leg and matching black heels, her outfit radiated with star power.
Emily Kassie
There isn’t much to say about this, other than: Red is Emily Kassie’s color. In this dress, her presence can be felt through the screen.
Meg Ryan
Georgina Chapman
Georgina Chapman’s black Oscars dress is a whole geometrical shape of its own, but that doesn’t mean it’s a ‘bad’ look, by any means.
It’s complicated, but not too complicated, especially since most of its ruffles and excessive designs lay by her feet.
Keleigh Sperry Teller
The flowy, casual dresses are all the craze right now, and the actress’s look is a perfect example of why.
It’s simple enough not to have people doing a double take, but her presence is undeniable on the red carpet with those gorgeous designs by her left shoulder and hip.
Fernanda Torres
The little glimmers of shimmer along Fernanda Torres’s dress and the feather ruffles around her waist add a great touch of personality to the look.
The Brazilian actress is nominated in the Best Actress category for I’m Still Here, and couldn’t contain her excitement about becoming the second mother-daughter duo to be nominated at the ceremony.
“It’s unbelievable to have nominated DNA,” she exclusively told Live From E!: The Oscars’ Zuri Hall. “It’s incredible.”
Nischelle Turner
Wearing a gorgeous sheer, golden gown and matching high heels, Nischelle Turner embodied what it means to walk the red carpet.
H.e.r
Accompanied with her best friend, Kristy Sarah, H.E.R embodied every bit of shimmer and shine her dress had to offer.
“Wow… a real princess,” someone on X gushed.
Another wrote, “She looks so beautiful.”
Charlotte Lawrence
If there were a person to embody the feeling of running through a field of flowers on a warm, sunny, spring day with a sort of child-like joy in the air… Charlotte Lawrence’s Oscars 2025 red carpet outfit would be exactly that.
Raffey Cassidy
Two words: The bow.
It would’ve been a great dress without the additional little twist on the shoulder. But the bow added so much style and volume to an already beautiful outfit.
Mikey Madison
It looks like the dress has fallen down at the top and someone slapped on a huge censor bar.
Monica Barbaro
Love the bottom structure, bit mismatched with the disco era top but I still like it.
Coralie Fargeat
It looks as if Coralie Fargeat ran for her life to get to the Oscars red carpet… and honestly, it works pretty well.
Her hair, looking as if it’s been ruffled by the wind, adds some spice to her outfit. Her sleeveless black gown, trailing on the floor, and her noticeable silver necklace create a perfect combination.
Nic Kaufmann
Showing up in a classy, champagne-colored set, the Internet personality looked graceful with his simple, yet stylized hair and matching black shoes. The small adornments of gold jewelry on his hands add the perfect bling to the entire look.
Maybe it is just me, but I didn't recognize 90% of the people on this list - where are all the big celebs hiding?
Like you, we must be getting old, OR, all the celebs we know wore boring clothes.
Load More Replies...I'm going to be downvoted but I don't care. If you don't like the Oscars, are not interested in the outfits or are just going to be hateful, then don't click on those articles because it is not for you.. You can just scroll away, it take less time than writing a comment.
Well said (written)! Why would someone read or comment without reading, something on a topic about which they are uninterested or actively contemptuous? I assume simply to troll, to express, boorishly, some political or philosophical talking points, and/or because they have nothing better to do. My wife and I enjoy the Oscars every year - lighthearted fun, and we may catch a film or performance we would otherwise have missed. I give the trolls, killjoys exactly zero attention - here for a welcome distraction from more serious (I.e., cancer) issues in our life - so FO if you’re here to simply c**p on others’ enjoyment.
Load More Replies...I love all the simple looking makeup. People are beautiful as they are.
This was fun! I don’t even watch the Oscars but it is fun to look at pretty people in pretty clothes!
Shout out to Rita Wilson who wore her JC Penny ruffled gauze house dress. She's been to too many of these stupid things to be swaddled up in a tight dress all night.
never heard of most of these people but some of the outfits were amazing
There seemed to be a fascination with excessive draping, and not in a way that flatters the *person*, just a LOT of fabric piled on and pinned up. Or they used ALL the drama elements at once: plunging neckline, cut outs, one shoulder drapping, ruching, sequins AND structural elements. Pick ONE, maybe two. Not digging it. But several folks clearly know what flatters them in fit and color, and know how to add drama/flair without looking cartoon-ish. I'm looking at you, Michelle Yeoh - BAM!
Well the comments about women's bodies are disappointing. It's still 1960 in here apparently, for some. When will we stop trashing one another?
