So inspiring! I'm at my high point due to prolonged illness- have quit my stressful job to concentrate on healing and getting my body back- goal is to lose 40 lbs this year and keep it off. I'm sure it will help me feel better- I just have to get over another couple of health hurdles....
Love this article. I really admire the strength and will of all those people who managed to do something with themselves. So inspiring!
May 16 marks the beggining of my journey. 5.5 months and lost 20kilos. All thanks to this little guy, my 4 year old son, that arrived home from school that day and told me that he didn't like to have a "fat mommy". It was all that I needed to listen to start a life transforming experience. Food education and hard funcional training twice a week. 12kgs to go! :D eu-59fe5b1b9cd00.jpg
The 'fat acceptance' advocates may have good intentions in some sense, of trying to make fat people realize they have value. But every single one of these success stories proves how misguided the idea of 'fat acceptance' really is. Why can we say on the one hand that we shouldn't de-value overweight people, and on the other that we shouldn't tell them to accept their obesity? Because we can walk and chew gum at the same time. We can believe that people have value, regardless of their weight, and for that very reason acknowledge that nearly all physicians would advise overweight people to get more fit. We should do this precisely because we value the people who are overweight and want what's best for them. True, if we're not physicians we have no business trying to give fat people medical advice. But nor is it proper for us non-physicians to contradict a mainstream conclusion of medicine: that being obese is not healthy, and the many good people facing this challenge must address it.
You are right, but here's the thing people should understand: fat people shouldn't settle for being overweight, BUT they should first learn to love and appreciate their body in order to get healthy. See, that's the vicious spiral: self hate leads to feeling unworthy, which leads to defeat and not believing you can or deserve to heal from this terrible affliction. That's why once again, I must stress that bullying and hate is doing nothing to help these people. It only serves to vent the frustration and anxiety of people who have a deep seeded issue or hidden fear with weight themselves. Once you truly love your body and who you are, you stop abusing it with food, or any harmful substance for that matter. It's like the war on drugs really, ostracizing the victims achieves nothing. Not to mention that is the decent thing not to treat people like they are merely a walking problem and nothing else.
Load More Replies...I went from 320+ (my scale didn't go any higher) in November 2012 to my current weight of 242.2 lbs. I got to 248 lbs in just 4 months originally, but in an unhealthy and unmaintainable way. I soon shot back up to 285 lbs, but I have been making steady progress since then - first a plateau at 273 lbs, then at 255 lbs, and now I am holding steady at 242 to 244 lbs. My photo shows me when I crossed the 300 lb mark and my march in the Pride parade a week ago. You can do it and you don't have to change your life drastically. As a matter of fact, it is more likely to cause you to fail. Made small adjustments that still fit into your lifestyle and as you get used to them, make more small adjustments. And drink more water! baf-5a0082...119ca1.jpg
I hope this make people think twice before treating super obese people as of they are less than human and as if they deserve to be annihilated with insults and contempt. These pics show that these were all very real, beautiful people all along. Their only crime is having gone through a very deep physical crisis in their lives. Obese people are their own worst bully, btw, they need people to believe in them, not kick them while they are down.
I think support is the number one thing people need when losing weight. I was fortunate to have a great support system.
Load More Replies...Very inspirational! I too am on a weight loss journey, diet change and exercise. Fighting my fibromyalgia with fitness! Good work all =D
Shocked as hell my picture is on here, hahaha. How the hell did you get it?
I'd love to see a photo project of people recovering from eating disorders and gaining back to a healthy weight. :)

Their success is inspiring, and I am glad to know they are likely adding healthy years to their lives.
What I think is most inspiring isn't the shrinking body, but the face gains! I have lost weight before (and gained it all back), so I know (and you can see in some of these pictures) what it does to your skin and breasts, and making your body recover and look GOOD after slimming down is another huge pile of work), but every single face in the "after" pictures looks so much better! But just seeing your face in the mirror when brushing your teeth would be worth it! (and of course the body language also says a lot about gained confidence as well)
So inspiring! It takes dedication to change your life like this.
I came here to say what everyone else is saying! This is truly loving your body and yourself. This is not an easy road she traveled and still travels. Many congrats to her!
Congrats to all the people who worked so hard to get where they got. That said, I wish more emphasis would be put on healthy eating as opposed to the gym. Both are great, but you lose way, way, way, way more weight in the kitchen than you do in the gym, plus good eating habits are the part that truly makes you "healthier". For some reason most people either say nothing about the method, or just the working out part.
What is with the gym bashing? You need to eat right but you also need to be moving i.e active. the problem is that most people in the west work office style jobs, if you can change to a more active job or find some way to take up an active hobbie then that's better but the gym is still a good option for a lot of people. Learning about food is important and sticking to a good diet(I mean this in the day to day eat habits sense not the get beach body fit after 6 weeks sense) will take you far but Aunt Messy is right the two go together. Hence all the people that lost weight talking about going to the gym, also why tennis players for example will eat a ridiculous amount of calories but are stick thin because they train alot which burns the fat off.
Load More Replies...This is very inspiring to me. I just started my weight lose journey and im going to the gym everyday starting very slow but im not giving up. Im older and its harder because I've never been this big however I am very much inspired by these amazing photos.

Shocked as hell my picture is on here, hahaha. How the hell did you get it?
I'd love to see a photo project of people recovering from eating disorders and gaining back to a healthy weight. :)
There was a post like that a while back on BP you may still be able to find it.

I'm the guy in #35! A friend randomly came across this list today and linked me. I'm kind of honored to be frank. Currently I'm training for my first full marathon. Ran my first half-marathon last November. If anyone tells you that you can't, even if you tell yourself. They are dead wrong.
Congrats to all that reached their goals. As a gay man I have to say there are allot of hotties in the after pics! WOOF
