Weight gain and obesity are almost an epidemic in our society. And it's not because we have all turned into gluttonous eating machines, but maintaining the weight is coded into our DNA. And with the unlimited supply of fast and processed foods, it is a slippery slope from a few excess pounds to being overweight. The saddest part is, that those pounds come together with other health issues and weight loss is no picnic. In fact, you could argue that embarking on a weight loss journey is even harder than to stay motivated during the cold time of the year. But whether you're shedding pounds or simply trying to stick with a healthy lifestyle, Bored Panda has put together a list of incredible before-and-after photos of people's weight loss success stories to keep your motivation burning.

Featuring guys and girls who lost 175 lbs, 200 lbs, or even 295 lbs, this series of weight loss pictures proves that nothing is stronger than a determined mind. So turn on Eye Of The Tiger, turn away from that croissant, and scroll down to collect your daily dose of calorie-burning weight loss transformation inspiration. Extreme weight loss is arduous work, but it is so, so worth it in the end!

A healthy lifestyle isn't just a fad - it's a way to lead a better, more active, and happier life. If you aren't sure where to start, there's an excellent app for that called Reshape. It offers customized meal plans, exercise programs, and plenty of useful information and support on the journey of becoming a better you. Start with a free quiz.

My 600-Pound Life - Before And After

Amber started her weight loss journey carrying more than 600 pounds. Because of her weight, she couldn't shower or bathe herself and was barely walking. She worked hard and lost enough weight for gastric bypass surgery after that she continued with her weight loss plans by eating healthy and exercising. She has lost more than 400 pounds and has changed her life completely.

I'm Finally Where I Want My Body To Be And I'm Happily Maintaining What I've Got. It Only Took Just Under 9 Years, It's Been Hard, But Now I'm Just Glad I'm Here

I'd have to say my weight loss journey it's going pretty damn well! My definition is getting better, the stomach is more trim and I'm even confident enough to let people see the midriff. It only took just under 9 years, it's been hard, but now I'm just glad I'm living healthy.

Combined Regular Cardio And Weight Training, Helped Me To Reduce My Weight From 223 Lbs (101 Kg) To 144 Lbs (65 Kg) In Slightly Less Than 2 Years

I've always had low self-esteem due to my weight and appearance, but a couple of years ago I decided to start my weight loss journey in hopes to feel better about myself. Not believing in strict diets, I chose to exercise instead and after two years I've shed about half of my weight.

And diet. Why do people ignore the diet part? I guarantee she's not eating the same as before, and I guarantee it's healthier food. Since food is 85% of it, it's funny that most people just talk about the gym part.

So I Lost 295 Lbs In The Last Decade. Pics Or It Didn't Happen

It took me a decade of changing habits and being a healthier version of me, but it was totally worth it. If not for pictures, nobody would believe it's possible to lose so much body weight!

On the picture to the left, you can tell in his eyes that he doesn't feel good about himself, it's as he's barely able to look at himself, and in the picture to the right are the eyes and posture full of self-esteem. Great!

So was I.
Weight loss, it's about health. It's not about acceptance by others...it's about learning to accept who you are in this moment and who you are becoming.
