40 People Who’ve Reached New Levels Of Cringe And Got Posted In The ‘Cringetopia’ Online Group
InterviewCringe is as cringe does. Even though the internet is full of wonderful things like cat pics, wholesome local news, and articles written by yours truly, it’s also home to the vast and spooky wilderness where you’ll find the most bizarre and cringe-worthy posts. And it’s the members of the ‘Cringetopia’ subreddit that bears the heavy burden of documenting the cringiest examples to share (and publicly mock!) with the world. These cringetopians have a duty to show us what to never ever do while at the same time providing us with some hilariously weird content.
We’ve collected some of the best recent posts that will make your face contort, your mind reel, and your lips say, “Oh God, why?! Please, no!” Remember to upvote the cringiest pics that hurt you emotionally (and maybe even physically). Oh, and if you haven’t had enough internet for today, then be sure to check out our previous posts about the ‘Cringetopia’ subreddit right over here: Part 1 and Part 2.
What the 1.3-million-strong ‘Cringetopia’ community teaches us is that cringey posts are more common than we might think. And we’ve all no doubt done embarrassing things that we still remember in the shower or late at night when we should be sleeping. However, ignoring these feelings and running away from them is far from healthy.
Bored Panda had a talk with a couple of the subreddit's moderators to learn more about how the massive community is managed, as well as how to live with the cringey things that we've done in the past (spoiler warning: it's to take responsibility for your mistakes and live life with courage). Scroll down for our interviews with them, as well as for our chat about embarrassment with award-winning social psychologist Vanessa Bohns, the author of the forthcoming book 'You Have More Influence Than You Think.'

The Woman Is The Cringe One Here, In Case Anyone Is Confused
I laughed. Let's just open doors out of consideration for others, instead of reading something negative into it. I've held doors for men who were pushing strollers or carrying a lot of stuff.
That's what I do. Just because I'm male don't assume I want to feel like I control people
Load More Replies...I hold the door to everyone: it's called politeness, nothing to do with so called patriarchy. Calling subconscious to almost evrything it's just a way to avoid to have to explain. I'm tired of this...
Um. I'm a woman and I ALWAYS open doors for people (especially if their hands are full) and hold them for people who are right behind me. That's just basic good manners.
So strange. I was never given the misogynistic patriarchy handbook growing up, I was just taught to open doors to be polite for any-ol'-body. Thanks for this clarification, I have a lot of oppression to catch-up on administering now
Yeah yeah. But let's talk about people holding doors for you when you are at 15 meters of the said door... that's savage :D
I was walking into a bookstore. I sensed there was someone right behind me and i didnt want to be rude and shut the door in their face. I thought it would polite to hold the door open for them. I didnt even realize it was someone in a wheelchair. They got upset and said they didnt need my help. Excuse me for having manners.
I would slam it shut, not caring if on their chair then. Not an insult to the chaor but the personality. I know many do not want someone to do things for them, they are capable, and many do want that considerstion. We don't know.
Load More Replies...Silly. I hold the door for anyone who's behind me, because I'm not a rude jerk.
If I was to let a door slam in your face instead of holding it for you, wouldn't you think I was I was a rude man? It's just basic manners to hold the door for a woman, or a man, or anyone, Or is that just me and how my parents raised me?
Yeah...I'm of an age that understands just how pervasive misogyny was and how far we have come and, yes, how far we still have to go. It makes me nuts when idiots take offense at what should be seen as mere courtesy, not a political statement. I hold doors for people -- any person male or female. Not because I'm trying to make a statement, but because it is the polite and right thing to do and because I was taught to be considerate. I say "thank you" when someone holds the door for me. So sorry if that offends...nope, not sorry at all.
I've taught my 12 y/o son to open & hold the door for whomever. He does it because it's what's called being a kind, caring human being.
i hold doors for folks all the time. i don't bother checking gender id's...i'm just farking polite. jeeez...
Hello, welcome to the 21st century, where courteous people of any sex/gender do kind actions for others, like holding the door so it doesn't hit them in the face. I'm a woman and have been doing this most of my life (70+) for women, men, drag queens, you name it.
Uhhhhhh it is a common courtesy for anyone. Stop making it about who someone is. Can I not just do something helpful? Have you ever worked in service industry where it is a given that you hold door knock twice before leaving the walk-in and give a d@mn about everyone?
Modern feminism "when a man (insert any verb here), it is a symbols of patriarchy".
I hold the door for any and all. But not too long ago, pre pandemic, I was entering a large office building and I stepped aside to let these ladies go before me. I got a lecture from some disgruntled POS who was having a bad day and was telling everyone listening that I'm an awful person, I had motive for holding the door etc etc etc. I just told her to have a nice F*****G day and got in the first elevator that was open. I'll still hold doors.
Strangely enough nobody ever yelled at me or anything else negative when I hold a door for somebody. Maybe because thats called "manners" and counts for every gender but who the f**k knows, right?
They are over reacting. Seriously! It’s and act of chivalry. You are already heading towards the door.
I hold doors open for whomever is behind me, and I have a uterus! 👍🏽
I am showing my solidarity with women by refusing to open doors for them now. OK, so my mail delivery driver is female and its now been 3 weeks without parcels, but "go women!!!"
I agree with Viviane, get over the sexist, and racist c**p, just be nice to people
Really? My momma said that women deserve to be treated with respect! By opening a door for a woman, a person with their arms full, and any handicapped or senior citizen. Oh I failed to mention that my dad not only agreed with momma but went on to say that "I should never forget the most important woman in history is Mary! I was to remember that!" I open all doors, including my truck and her Lincoln, all store doors. To date the majority of comments made to my wife were only positive! So to the author of this KRAZY POSTING - You do not deserve to be treated with respect until the time you respect yourself and others!
I open doors out of common courtesy. I also allow couples and families to enter before I do. It's just the way I was raised. It has nothing to do with wanting to control someone else.
Hold the door for anyone, not just females, and if you enter, always say thanks. It's manners, not patri/matriarchy.¹
I remember when I was a little kid and the government was debating the ERA, my dad (who was a bit of a chauvinist) asked me during a discussion of equal rights 'Who would open a door if men and women were equal?' I answered him 'Whoever gets there first'. It made sense to me. He also asked me what was the first thing that I would think about when buying a house. He was trying to show me the difference of the sexes. He expected me to say something about furnishings and decorating while a man would think about structure and improvements needed, but with my childish mind I answered 'How much it cost'. My dad never knew how to argue with me.
Boy somebody needs to get a life. I'll bet you spend your days hunting for something to be offended by. Good God. Grow up.
Someone holds the door for me ( as a man) I say thank you and try to pass the generous gesture to the next persaon man or woman. Maybe some folks are just polite like that and dont give a hoot about your gender.
So what's it mean when I, a woman, hold a door for random people regardless of gender because I was raised to be polite?
People like that are making feminists look like b!tchy Karens ugh
Oh, so i´m doing it wrong all the time! I hold the door, if someone is behind me. Stupid me.
only thing that irritates me is when i as a woman just hold the elevator door (not automatic but big door u have to hold) for a neighbour bcos i was exiting first or something, and a male neighbour just CAN"T go in but has to grab those door and let me go? Like.. just get in and ill go, you don't have to show how manly you are and cause actual inconvenience (i hold the door by leaning on it with my back and they grab it with their hand over my head? i dont need to see your armpit sir)
I hold them open for everyone, especially if we all get their at the same time.
I hold the door for anyone. But i think that they are talking about the chivalry thing when the man has to enter first and Hodor to the lady. They are wrong too. That was just the decent thing to do at old times, men first to read the room and not throwing a lady into a deadly fight happening in the tavern lol. At this times only men were wearing swords or fighting, so it was pretty logic that they had to check the safety of the place before throwing the lady in it. Good old times... Now some people will still do it but i don't see it as "misogynistic" or "controlling" but as remains of history in western culture.
So a man is just supposed to let the door slam right in the face of a woman behind him, in order to let her be independant? Opening a door for anyone (male or female) is just a sign of consideration and kindness. Don't bring this femisnism thing out of proportion, and do the fighting where it really matters, e.g. when it comes to equal payment for equal work instead of this much easier gentleman bashing. It just results in people not taking women fighting for their rights seriously.
I open doors for everyone, even people awkwardly far from the door, and I wait.
What ever happened to the act of holding the door being just plain considerate? The same goes for 'Excuse Me', Please and Thank You..Way too many opinionated people who feel the need to make even the subject of manners into their own personal soapbox rally..
I had a boyfriend who ran ahead to open it for me, I told him to stop, he wouldn't. I have 2 arms and hands; they work. If I did not, I either have a way to manage or I would ask. I think we should open it for anyone regardless of sex or gender, I always do, but I don't expect it back from anyone.
Keep Your Neck
So while the world has been trying to explain to everyone that "no" means no, this person is saying, "Well, actually.... if he really loves you then no means yes." She's ruining everything for everybody.

Fjallmadur told me that the best way to confront embarrassing and cringey situations is to fully admit to them. "A person should own up to their mistakes and embarrassments because it makes them a better person. If you're too concerned about doing something that may make people laugh at you, then you're never going to live," the mod noted to Bored Panda that being afraid of embarrassing ourselves can't have a wider impact on how we tend to live our lives.
"The jocks think the geeks are cringey, and geeks think the jocks are. And everyone thinks bronies and furries are cringey. Someone will always be there to make fun of you," Fjallmadur said, urging people to not mind the critics. "Live your life the best you can."
Meanwhile, redditor Tejmar, another 'Cringetopia' moderator, told Bored Panda that the people behind the community are absolutely awesome and laid back. "I can say this mod team is one of the friendliest and easy-going groups I've been a part of," they praised their colleagues.

Earlier, I spoke with social psychologist Vanessa about other aspects of embarrassment as well. She noted that we ought to embrace our embarrassment instead of shying (or running!) away from it. Not only does it help our reputation, it also helps us accept the fact that we can’t always be perfect.
"We spend a lot of time and effort presenting an ideal version of ourselves to other people. When something happens that contrasts with the image we’ve been projecting—when we say or do something that shows we actually aren’t as graceful or as smart as we’d like people to believe—we feel embarrassed," Vanessa told Bored Panda previously.
Uh
It may be funny to the person doing it, but it is very disrespectful to the shop staff who deal with this exact same unoriginal nonsense all the time. Nobody condones that person who doesn't reshelve their books after browsing- how about we show the same respect to the staff by not messing up their shelves for a cheap laugh online.
Whats The Point Of This
What The F Is Twitter
"Discovering you were wrong about something most everyone else around you has long known to be true is one of those moments. In that moment we learn, 'Wait a minute, maybe I haven’t been presenting the image of being smart or worldly that I thought I was presenting all this time,' which is embarrassing,” the social psychologist noted that embarrassment occurs when reality doesn’t align with our view of ourselves. In short, embarrassment denotes a contrast between our subjectivity and objective reality.
“One thing that’s interesting about embarrassment is that, for as much as we might experience it as painful in the moment, it’s actually very socially adaptive. Being embarrassed signals to other people that you care about what they think. And that actually draws people in to you.”

That Is A Good Question
The expert continued: “So blushing, burying your head in your hands, laughing, acknowledging how embarrassing something was, are all totally healthy ways to react.” So while embracing our embarrassment is the healthy (and socially useful) way to react, trying to cover up our own faults and mistakes creates the opposite, negative effect.
“The unhealthy way to react is to pretend you’re not embarrassed, that you didn’t make a mistake, or to get angry. Those things undo the positive effect that embarrassment typically has on other people by conveying insincerity and pushing people away rather than drawing them in.”

Once had a guy saying that covid was fake and that no one who hasn't been vaccinated has died and to stop letting the government control you. I replied so people who existed before the creation of vaccines didn't die at a young age? He didn't have a reply for that but kept saying covid was fake and that technology is the reason it was even a problem. This dude was a cringefest.
I feel honestly sorry for some of them... Maybe I am just too kind. Yeah, that's probably that.
