My spousal unit and I both have "la crève" (a nasty cold) right now, and have been isolated at home for the past week. We have coughed so much that it hurts, and we are actually doing this same gesture to prevent coughing because we have a secondary sore throat from all the coughing we have done. He's at one end of the house and I am at the other and the cats are running between us to whomever is the quietest.

I just got the 'joke' & no, it's the opposite of funny considering 1. how many women died horribly painful deaths due to backyard abortionists and 2. seeing where the USA is going, this may once again be the only choice for women as their rights are being stripped away. No Medicaid & shockingly low pay means no money for birth control. Then they get ràped, but no chance at all to terminate the pregnancy because stupid old white men have decided what's best for themselves & have no idea of how a woman's body even works. Plus the rapist usually walks free because of the old white men in charge. As someone who lives in an actual free country (Australia), it's unbearably frustrating & horrifying where the US is going.

I'm not shaming anyone. But it can be done if we make an effort. In my country (and I believe all of the EU?), we use horrible paper straws and have a ban on free single use plastics. Icecream does not taste good on a wooden spoon, so guess what? Innovation happened! Also, I travelled quite far last year, stayed at decent hotels, but the breakfast was often served on plastic plates, with plastic cutlery and a plastic cup!! Makes me so angry! And yes, it hurt to take the plane. Can't do everything right all at once. But I do make an effort. And see my comment above re.Olive Moon. All in all, it's time to stop accepting bs from companies/governments.

Where I live almost all groceries are delivered in crates, the refrigerated/frozen stuff in 1 or max. 2 huge reusable plastic bags. Both the crates and bags can be returned and you get your deposit back.
