Think of marketing as you would think about sex. Some brands try to establish a pleasant and long relationship with their clients and others use dirty tricks to manipulate anyone into the sack with them. So while some buyers are completely satisfied with their purchases, others feel ashamed and used. This time, Bored Panda has focused on packaging, bringing you the most insulting examples of designers taking advantage of the innocent.
From a deceiving box, hiding the true size of a sandwich to a clever wrap, making a lollipop appear way better than it actually is, there should be a special place in hell for everyone who contributed to these packaging ideas. "Gluten-Free"
It is good that in EU lying like that is forbidden. Gluten is a serious health hazard for the people who have coeliac disease or wheat allergy. Also selling something as 'organic' is regulated here.
That's one more reason to be against TTIP, which would put USA commercial rules in Europe =8O
Load More Replies..."We are not gluten free or organic certified because it's b******t" ???No, what IS b******t is saying you are in large lettering on the front and then in small print on the back revealing you are in fact lying a******s
Of course if you weren't blind, you would notice the listed organic ingredients & gluten free flour. Hence, totally honest. They just do not pay for the certification.
Load More Replies...I have Celiac disease and I am fine with this label. (Also I am an American which is important) The GF certification is unfairly hard to get. Most of the things that I eat are free of gluten (like this) but aren’t official. I don’t need official, I need foods and food makers who know and prevent cross contamination. The official title means nothing to me. I have never gotten sick from something packaged like this, my greatest risk is always from people who don’t understand cross contamination.
What you people all seem to be missing is the fact that the company's ingredients ARE Gluten-Free and Organic. However the processing plant in which they have their product produced is NOT. THEREFORE, they can't "Certify" that their product is Gluten-Free and Organic, because trace amounts of ingredients that are not theirs may get mixed into the end-product, unintentionally by contaminated machinery, which negates it being certifiable. IF the product were produced within a certified Gluten-free, Organic production facility, it would probably be prohibitively too expensive to be distributable.
Even a tiny bit of gluten can be very dangerous for some people with celiac disease. There is a good reason it can't be certified if they use equipment that is used to process foods containing gluten.
Load More Replies...Is it only me that actually read ALL the writing, not just what's underlined? This product is actually gluten free according to its ingredients. It contains *gluten free flour*. What they mean with what is underlined is that they are NOT gluten free CERTIFIED, but the product IS gluten free. Is it that important to be certified for this? And the other statement is written on almost every *name-it* free product, that they are made in facilities that process other foods that contain that stuff. But the products themselves do not contain it. If I were gluten intolerant, I would have no issues eating this cookie..
Ah yes but that’s because it may contain traces. Those traces can kill or leave certain people in immense pain. Thus they could trick someone into a severe reaction
Load More Replies...It doesnt say that the product itself is not gluten or organic, only that they are not CERTIFIED organic or gluten free because they also process other foods in the plant. Its kinda like you going to Dairy Queen and they have to say that peanuts and other food allergens are on the premises even though you most likely arent going to have peanuts come into contact with your burger as they are prepared in different areas of the store.
It says that it contains gluten-free flour. If you read further it says that the facility that this product is made in is processing foods that contain wheat. My best guess is that is why they are not certified because there are chances of mixing some gluten with gluten-free flour in the foods processed there. Still doesn't really make them total liars.
Those traces can literally kill, that’s why you shouldn’t trick people into thinking you are certified
Load More Replies...Omg seriously the product IS gluten free and organic if you look at the ingredients list. I think it's just not official
They're setting themselves up for law suits, claiming gluten free and organic, then repudiating it on the back does not leave them free and clear. All it takes is one person to die from an allergic reaction and their little joke won't save their asses!
Dont even mention the other potentially life threatening allergens! Shellfish...geez!
you can't sell this. Their r people allergic to this and you could get sued
Are you kidding me - how do they get by with this. Their claims of Gluten Free when they really are not could HARM SOMEONE OR WORSE that has Gluten allergies !!! Shame on them !!!
I think this is being misunderstood. I think they are calling the certification process b******t, not the fact that the product actually is not organic and gluten free
Traces will keep this from being certified. Please note these traces are enough to kill people
Load More Replies...what a great way to lose customers & have them be bad mouthed all over the internet!
Pretty sure this label is photoshopped. The company seems to pride itself on being GF and organic when I looked them up.
It does pride itself at being organic, but it also states on the label that they are NOT CERTIFIED ORGANIC. Which if you look that up is a totally different ballgame. I can raise chickens sell the eggs and as long as I didnt feed my chickens anything other than corn and the bugs they find, technically they are organic eggs, because I didnt treat them with antibiotics. However to be CERTIFIED ORGANIC, I would have to insure that the feed I feed them is organic, that I use no pesticides anywhere on the farm, that they eat nothing that could have pesticides on it, that the eggs are washed in organic water (maybe, I dont know but probably) that the chickens come from organic chicken farm hatcheries. They check down to the seed, on veggie farms.
Load More Replies...It really sucks because very few people actually need gluten free products, but the entirely pointless gluten free craze has lead to marketplace misrepresentation that is straight up harmful to the few people who actually do need gluten free products. Companies cashing in on buzzwords is dangerous.
'we are not gluten free or organic because it's bullshit'. Good to know!
It is gluten free (by means of ingredients) :-" it says the factory also processes gluten foods. jeez
The traces could kill someone who was looking for a certification to be safe
Load More Replies...So there's only a slight chance I'll s**t my pants eating this? Greaaaaaaaaaat.
Now that's false advertising that endangers people's health. Sue, sue, sue!
All this is saying is they haven't bought into the USDA's certification racket, which requires some expensive processes for producers to gain certification. I regularly buy organically grown produce from farmers who choose not to be certified because they can't afford it. It's easier with a local producer and this brownie company is asking you to trust them that what they are saying is true. It probably is.
Wow! Companies like this should bedrummedout of business! Thought this was regulated in the US?!
I saw in a T.V. program that laws governing organic produce in France can be pretty lax because when a buyer beware program found avocados that were supposed to be organic with more pesticides than ordinary avocados, the government didn't even contact them to learn of their findings. Either that or the French government was sleeping at the switch.
Also, that address and zip code do not go together. The correct zip code for that address is 90069.
oops, I am wrong about that. That is the correct zip code!
Load More Replies...Its SUPPOSE to be in the US also. Normally mislabeling is taken very seriously. What these jackasses don't understand is mislabeling like this is life or death for some people. I hope since this has hit the internet this product has been pulled.
This one is not lying. The products themselves are gluten-free and organic. However, they cannot be certified gluten-free or organic because of FDA regulations. Because they were made in a facility that may contain gluten products somewhere, they cannot say they are gluten-free certified. Certify is the keyword. Not gluten-free.
Because it may contain traces it cannot be certified, people can die from those traces so if they thought you were certified because you proudly displayed you were well......
Load More Replies...People used to not be allergic to food. They ate it. They adapted. They got used to it.
how come the top one has paper packaging and the bottom is plastic?
Okay, organic can sometimes be b******t (or at least people believe b******t things about it), and some people think gluten is bad for no reason, but there are people who legitimately have gluten allergies / sensitivities and YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A D**K ABOUT IT! It's better to tell people WHY you are against these things people might have misconceptions of, not just say "f**k you, that's stupid".
It says it is not certified because of the ridiculesness of it ...there's no gluten looking at the ingredients...
Cross contamination from one container that processed wheat not being properly cleaned out before another product goes down the same chute or into the same barrel etc is not at all uncommon and can do people in. My ex suffered from that several times and she was forced to start only buying "certified" GF products and it was a pain in the a*s. The only people who go "Bah it's no big deal" are the ones who've never suffered for it.
Load More Replies...Only in America can big companies get away with c**p like this. My husband is from Australia and he's told me this kind of stuff is illegal there and the laws there are enforced unlike some of the laws here.
The product IS gluten free, read the ingredients. Its that since the facility where it is processed MAY have been in contact with some gluten containing material. Therefor minute amounts CPULD be present.
Yes, those tiny amounts could kill a unsuspecting celiac

Load More Replies...I read an article just last week where three USDA inspectors had got caught allowing non Organic vegetables from Brazil into the country.
I also am an American Celiac. I would be mad if I bought this. I am highly sensitive and things that are processed in the same factory can have cross contamination. They may clean the equipment, but it's hard to believe that they would get EVERY SINGLE CRUMB.
Or you could buy a bag of non gluten containing grain from a health food store like I did and you can find full grains of wheat (about 3 or 4 per 1/4 cup when I sifted through it). Then I looked through the clear bag and could see them clearly, then went back to the store and showed them the ones on their shelves that clearly had visible wheat they just went "Huh. *sigh* Fine, I guess we'll take these ones off the shelves" as if I was being an a*****e even though I couldn't have been nicer about it. Pricks.
Load More Replies...Nowadays all the snowflakes allegedly have celiac disease and need gluten free EVERYTHING! what a weak society we live on these days.
No, many people actually have it and could die from the traces
Load More Replies...Funny how the organic products stated are ALL the ingredients used to make it.
I mean, when you get right down to it, what the f**k is an inorganic potato?

People often rant at the European Union and its tendency to pass nanny state regulations. However, it is good to see that most of the fraudulent packagings and illegal deceits shown here would not be allowed in the EU and entitle the customer to return the goods, in some cases even to sue the vendor or manufacturer. Although some deceits are so creative that you can laugh at them, thinking about the criminal idea to cheat on people behind this makes me angry.
