I do actually believe this could happen. James Herriot (all creatures great and small) told a story about a kitten who nursed at a sow with her piglets. He had no reason to lie as a veterinarian, and kittens do need this kind of high fat, liquid diet initially.

Every species on the planet has some features that it shares with other species, and some that make it stand out," Dr. Tom Smulders, Director of Education and Reader in Evolutionary Neuroscience at Newcastle University, wrote.

I'm A Horse Vet. This Adorable Little Guy Fell Asleep On My Feet While I Talked To His People.
Species can share a trait for a couple of reasons: either they are closely related and have inherited the trait from their common ancestor, or the shared trait is an adaptation to similar evolutionary pressures.
Both of these ways of looking at similarities can be enlightening when trying to understand the nature of humans as well.

In the next town over, I would frequently see a fox 🦊 when I drove down a particular road along my route. I would always see them trotting along down the sidewalk, at all different times throughout the day. It was so adorable.

My mom also feeds foxes. There's a whole family that lives on their property. The mother fox has kits every spring. They're SO cute. One of the kits from last year likes to come up and sleep on the porch furniture. Fox-688542...471d49.jpg

we get 2 to 3 babies come thru our front yard everyday in AR where we have a corn pan for the deer....the babies don't eat the corn, they just nibble the soft grass...eventually a Mom or Dad comes to joins them...it's a Beautiful scene to enjoy !!!
"Everybody expects chimpanzees (and bonobos) to be similar to us, because they are our closest relatives," Smulders said. "So when we look at them, we usually focus on the ways in which we differ from them. After all, any traits we don’t share with them must have evolved in our own lineage and therefore be uniquely human."
However, there are two problems with this approach.
"First, any differences between us and chimps are just as likely to be due to changes in chimps since our last common ancestor as they are changes in us. So we can only start concluding that a trait has evolved through the human lineage if chimps share their traits with other apes and maybe even other primates, but we don’t," Smulders explained.
And second, just because humans are the only primates that have a certain trait does not automatically mean that trait is uniquely human. "One obvious example is vocal learning. As far as we know, humans are the only primates who learn to make the sounds that comprise their means of communicating with one another. We call this trait 'vocal learning,' and it is the basis for human speech and language. However, there are many other groups throughout the animal kingdom that learn their vocalizations, for example, parrots and songbirds, seals and dolphins. So we're far from unique in this case."

I have had horses for 70 years. All my horses have a loving home for life and a peaceful resting place on our ranch when they pass from old age. I have seen some incredibly cruel treatment (reported some incidents myself) but I see great successes like this sweetheart and I still have hope. Please give her a carrot for me!

Back when I had loads of free time I used to crochet little sheep like these for my friends having babies.
According to the evolutionary neuroscientist, this framework allows us to examine evolution as a natural experiment, helping us understand the conditions under which vocal learning can evolve and how these insights apply to humans.
"In songbirds, for example, song learning might have evolved through sexual selection—from females preferring mates with complex songs. I'm so glad that there are so many volunteers and organisations that make this possible. Generally they have just fallen from the nest. Look up and should be able to find where it's fallen from and pop it back in. It is a common misconception that birds will reject babies touched by humans.

Note, sloths do not like being touched or held, it stresses them out. Sloths used for entertainment in captivity die quickly in captivity, and are quite dangerous with huge claws and a painful bite. I remember that video (3 parts). The mom of the family took it from the upstairs window and is fascinated and chilled by this (it is indeed very cute), in the background the kids are wailing about damaged floaties and the husband about the probably punctured liner and wants the cops to take care. The bear family leaves in the end. It is a house bordering a huge forest (national park iirc), so when deciding to go living there, this is something to take into acvount. And have a huge, sturdy fence. PS: At a certain point the cubs are balancing on the frame, so this is a promo-video highlighting the quality of that pool, too.

They’re supposed to be a lot more docile than the American opossum, who can be downright nasty-tempered if they’re startled—-which is usually how you come upon them when you’re just minding your own business taking your trash out.

In Dutch we'd call this "de kat op het spek binden", which is so appropriate for this picture, but also very hard to properly translate (I'll try: binding the cat onto the bacon. Basically it means expecting something of someone that is just impossible. Or entrapment. Like placing a jar of peanut butter in front of a dog and then expecting the dog not to eat it. Or in this case: expecting the tiger not to eat the pigs)

In German, you would say "binding a bear on somebody's back" (jemandem einen Bären aufbinden). It means cheating someone into doing something by absurd means. I don't know if this matches the Dutch saying.

Having worked in wildlife management for several years, I know these things are done with great care for specific reasons and carefully monitored. Mom tiger is filled with oxytocin at this point and likely very maternal toward these piglets. And she certainly doesn't look like she wants to eat any of them…

This is actually two different species that have a symbiotic relationship. The Galapagos marine iguana protects the small lava lizard from predators, while the lizard keeps the large iguana free of parasites.

That's not a lava lizard. That is a baby/juvenile marine iguana. You are correct that lava lizards sometimes live amongst marine iguanas, but that small lizard is NOT a lava lizard. I had a green iguana when I was a kid! One day he escaped his enclosure, and we couldn't find him. He was loose in the house for a couple of days; I looked everywhere but couldn't find him. Then, my mom had the idea to leave a watermelon out on the kitchen floor in the hopes of luring my iguana out of hiding. He's gorgeous! We had chameleons in the garden but my mother said they were wild animals and it wouldn't be fair to keep one. I used to name them and pretend though

Ovoviviparous doesn't mean they only give birth to one young. Skinks have litters - several babies at a time. Just because they give birth to live young doesn't mean that only one is born. Skinks can have anywhere from 5 to 25 young in a litter. These babies are all the same size and are almost certainly siblings, especially since they were found in the same spot.

This is a weird question but I want a pet dogs and cats are a no. I'm to weak to have to clean cages and have other medical issues. I won't get a pet unless I can take care of it. Im looking for low maintenance as my dad just had a stroke.
