We've all been there. The meticulously planned holiday that suddenly goes wrong in every way possible. A delayed flight causing a mishap of scheduling problems, the unsettling realization that your luggage might be touring a completely different continent somewhere around the world, or that memorable moment when the 'cozy beachfront accommodation' you booked turned out to be a scam on Airbnb. However, these vacation fails, while frustrating at the time, often turn into the funniest stories in our ‘inventory’.
After all, it's not just the picture-perfect sunsets and good food that make a trip memorable. Sometimes, it's the unplanned detours and unexpected misadventures as some would describe them as 'fails' that end up defining our personal travel experiences, reminding us of the unpredictability of life!

The Soles Of My Shoes Fell Off In The Middle Of The Forest While I Was Hiking
That happened to me. I had to tie them to my feet with my shoe laces and try not to trip over the front of the sole flapping with each step. Fortunately I was only about half an hour from home, but still!! My mum gave me here boots as she never used them, and same thing happened!! Apparently the soles on walking boots perish after a few years!!!

I'm On A Motorcycle Trip From Colorado Springs To Las Vegas. I Went South To Avoid The Snow, And Now I'm Stuck In Arizona With Over A Foot Of Snow
I live in Flagstaff and the 2022-2023 winter has been the 2ed biggest snow fall recorded in Flagstaff
Hello, neighbor! Last year was crazy. Hopefully it happens again to make up for the abysmal lack of summer rain, though 😕
Load More Replies...It blows my mind that snow like that happens in the same state where road signs, dumpsters, the roads themselves... literally melted in the heat.
Flagstaff is about 8000 feet (2440 meters) above sea level. When it rains in Phoenix, it snows in Flagstaff.
Load More Replies...For those who aren't from the area I can assure y'all this is completely normal. I'm from The Springs myself. Headed to Texas end of April had to stop at noon & get a room in Trinidad because of the snow.
Northern Arizona (and northern New Mexico for that matter) gets snow every year; they have ski resorts and everything.
Desert rat here. So sorry for the inconvenience. The weather's been funky lately!
Because most of it is. But about 1/3 or so is mountains.
Load More Replies...In winter, I-40 at Amarillo and Flagstaff have a lot of snowfall and is closed quite often. I have moved cross-country 6 times and try to avoid winter in I-40 if at all possible
Must've been last year. We had so many snow days, even my 10yo was annoyed by how much school she missed!
A common misconception is that the entirety of AZ is 115° and desert. The truth is about 1/3 of my state is mountains. Ski resorts and everything.
Load More Replies...Nah, snow in Flagstaff is very normal. Last winter we had more than average, but we get enough that we even have a huge ski resort. And it's not just Flag; Tucson even has a resort on Mount Lemmon.
Load More Replies...I love snow. It is sad that in where I live, every winter it barely snows because of Global Warming.

First Day On Vacation And Our Half Of The Hotel Doesn't Have Power. Guess Who Might Be Going Home Early
One night at a hotel, right after a shower I tried to blow dry my hair a minute in and the power for the entire place goes out. 10 minutes later with the power back on I tried again.... Let's just say, after the 3rd try followed by a hotel blackout, I decided I was stuck going to sleep with wet hair. Coincidentally, no more power outages after that decision. Used the same dryer long before and long after without any trouble.

Uh... are you actually incapable of pulling the sunscreen up...? Ridiculous.
So many of these are about the weather. The weather is what it is, it's not sentient, it does not raise a fog to inconvenience you.
Or people not doing some basic research beforehand.
Load More Replies...Love it when I get 12 notifications and they're all on comments that were cut off, and BP has removed any way to get to them. What's the point of making a list of anything past 50 (or more like usual, 30) if you're going to kill anything over that amount? Why would we want to comment on anything under 30? This is BP cutting off its' own dikc.
I never thought about before but your right.
Load More Replies...To those who got sun burnt, tough s**t. You should have applied sun screen. To those who were greeted by a hoard of tourists, please remember that you are part of the hoard.
I feel so bad for these people lol But my favorite part of all this list were the people in the comments who were just looking at the bright side of the problems <3
These people are so lucky, being able to travel. There are so many of us, myself included, who will never be able to take a vacation. The last time I went on vacation was in 2008 and it's probably the last one I'll ever have.
Times can change. I never thought I was gonna get 12000 miles away and visit the SE Asia area, but it happened! Had to wait till I hit 55, but it happened.
Load More Replies...Poor planning, weather, and lack of common sense for the most part. If you go to a tourist destination because you saw it on social media, chances are it's going to be packed. It's destroying small, lesser-known destinations. Every time is see those "small town destination everyone should see" posts I find out where I'm not going. These places aren't built for the amount of traffic they are getting.
If you are looking for culture of a place, go off the beaten path.
Load More Replies...So half these people complained about normal weather conditions, another 25% are clumsy, and the rest wouldn't have been disappointed if they'd done a minimal amount of research on their destination.
All the foggy pictures remind me of the Ship Hotel in Bedford County, PA (along rt 30). "See 3 states and 7 counties!" if ever the fog cleared, which it didnt. Never saw the point of making a tourist overlook in an area that never cleared up. It would've been a beautiful sight in the autumn!
