So many straight people/couples don't even want/like/take care of their kids, and so many gay people/couples who want to have kids aren't even allowed to do so. Kids should be raised by people who love them, no matter their gender/sexual orientation. When I read this story a few months ago, it made mi genuinely smile.

Denmark gives pregnant woman free prenatal screenings and recommends an abortion if the Fetus is likely to have trisomy 21. BUT at the same time people with Down syndrome have a very good life there. Denmark supports inclusive kindergardens/ preschools and schools. They finance special training and education and offer work for adults with Down syndrome. People with Dawn have a very long life expectancy there. From what I could gather: even though the abortion rates for Babys with Dawn are very high, if one IS born with dawn, the community includes it wholeheartedly! So, please, do not condemn them.

The title is misleading. In Italy, single people and gay couples cannot adopt children but only foster them. The little girl was taken into foster care by her father (who is a social worker) and, subsequently, he obtained a special adoption permit, which is granted in exceptional cases.

Not sure he was 'only allowed' to adopt a child with disabilities. A similar thing happened in Malta when they first allowed gay people to adopt (very recently, as it happens). The first couple to adopt chose a child with DS who had been rejected by every other (straight) adopting couple. Now, I don't want to criticise because I don't think that I would personally want to adopt a child with DS. But this couple decided that they wanted this child, which is great, and they got to adopt her immediately instead of having to wait for possibly years for a 'normal' child. I suspect this is the same kind of story.

This isn't true. In Canada they have more success with fostering and adoption so they're first in line. You'll get matched faster if you're able to take a child with disabilities. Anyone waiting for the perfect healthy baby will be waiting years. We can't take these panda lines as facts without sources and details.

Sarah gave us some very tips on how to deal with our current feelings of isolation, burnout, and exhaustion. She also shared how we can rediscover our joy of living. First of all, she highlighted the fact that it's perfectly "ok not to be ok," since it's normal to feel isolated and burned out "during a traumatic experience like a pandemic." The key is not to punish yourself for struggling during these difficult times.

Previously, I spoke about the relationship between helping others and happiness with Vanessa King, the Head of Psychology at ‘Action for Happiness,’ a movement that’s dedicated to creating a happier, more caring society. “All of these actions help others and boost your own happiness and if we are happier, research shows we are even more likely to help others.”
There’s some more good news on the altruistic front. We know that not everyone is willing to help others purely out of the goodness of their heart: they’re constantly thinking about what they get out of it. Fortunately, King told us that it’s perfectly fine to “fake it ‘till you make it” and not worry too much about whether you’re actually being self-interested or kind.

One of them slipped their collar and we all watched in horror as he ran into traffic and was killed by a passing car. We hugged her and kept her other pupper safe while she dealt with the tragedy. One of the groomers talked to the owner. I called her a month later and asked if she wanted to bring the dog in. She did, and when she came to pick up her pup, I presented her with a card that gave her free grooms for life on her surviving pup. The owner said that she wanted to take some of the burden off of her and let her know that we missed her baby too.

I'm at the stage where I need help with mostly everything; toileting, showering, eating, etc. Muscular Dystrophy isn't a very well-known condition so a couple of years ago I decided to open my life and show all the ugly, heartbreaking, annoying, and non-inspirational sides to having a debilitating condition. Saved A Robin From A "Murder" Of Crows Yesterday
There was a robin getting his butt kicked by a bunch of crows in the Verizon parking lot today, I ran over and scooped the robin up. We pack bonded and then I brought him to a wildlife rehab center. He was stunned for a bit but not bloody. He became alert and mobile after a bit, so I'm confident that he will recover. He held my hand and I almost died.

I know this girl, she is in 2 of my zoom classes, but I never talked to her before. Or even seen her in real life. In the chat, I was joking about how after looking at 2 kids art in my art class, I started disliking mine a little. The next day, I check my school email and see she sent me an email saying that I shouldn't dislike my art and said that I was good too. I used to actually hate my art ad I'm still trying to not look at what I draw and only see mistakes. She made my day. I wish more people would get out of their way to help others instead of bringing others down.

In early March, I was sore, scared, and kind of depressed because of my car accident. Now, I'm happy, relaxed, and feeling so much better. I have started coloring again and I don't get as mad as I was in March.
