Tree Fell Down In My Street, My Neighbor Decided To Create This Masterpiece
Absolutely beautiful. My uncle is a wood carver, and often does owls in fallen trees.
The lake in my town had some trees cut down last year (don't worry there's plenty left and new planting) the stumps have been carved into local wildlife statues
Load More Replies...Yellow-tailed black cockatoos! We get them around here - they moved into the suburbs after the fires back in 2003 or so.
People invest a lot of time, energy, and money to find the perfect home. They consider various factors such as location, layout, outdoor space, and parking when looking at properties. The neighborhood it’s in is also an important aspect for many folks.
Imagine you find an amazing house, but nobody else lives on the entire block. Sounds lonely and sad, right? But what if you have rude neighbors, people who don’t maintain their lawns, or people who don’t pick up after their pets? Not only do you have a bad experience living there, but the property value could also decrease.

Hopefully, none of the kids had car trouble. Too cute!
THIS is an amazing neighbor! I hope I get one like this when/if I get a house
First movie I remember seeing was Star Wars at a drive-in theater. Sitting in Dad's old mustang. Good times.
Looking at these entertaining pictures motivates you to have a reasonable relationship with the person living next door, especially when you plan on staying in the same space for a longer time. You don't need to become BFFs with them, but you should at least wave at them and say 'hello' while passing by.
Having mutual respect and getting to know people in the neighborhood can make your life a whole lot easier. They provide valuable insights about the area and keep a watchful eye on your home when you go on vacations or holidays.
And they can also lend a hand with renovations, receive your parcels, and pet-sit. Sometimes they might also babysit and house-sit for you.
The View From My Desk. My 65-Year-Old Neighbor, Who Can’t Sit Still, Is Making A Snow Fort. No Children In Sight
Idk either. It’s a lot better when they’re not around, imo.
Load More Replies...I guess an igloo is a special kind of snow fort, because it has a specific shape, and sometimes it might have fur/skin (or even just snow) arranged as an interior insulation. Maybe I’m just going too far on a tangent.
Load More Replies...My cousins did this after we had a blizzard that left seven-foot drifts around our houses. Somewhere we have old 8mm films of everyone lending a hand to build it. A lot of them are gone now, but they sure knew how to have fun even in hard times.
This year we're going to the beach on holiday. Single mom, 3 teenage kids. I want to go build stuff on the beach (no I'm not a professional, I just enjoy making sandcastles and decorating them with shells). I'm sure I'll properly embarras my teenagers by it. But why would making castles, creating things, be something only kids should enjoy?

We did it to a weeping willow by the lake. I don't know if anyone complained, but it was probably illegal. I don't sound like I give a microstuff do I

I even heard the sound of the scene change in my head, that "spinning" sound from the TV show!! How freaking cool is that car???
Building such positive relationships fosters a sense of belonging, making your community truly feel like home. Studies show that having social connections results in not only good mental but also physical health. When you are surrounded by friendly and trustworthy people, you feel less stressed and get better sleep. This reduces the chances of an individual getting a heart attack.

My Neighbor Just Stopped By. He Said He Was Taking His Mother-In-Law For A Ride
When he cycled past on the way home minus the MIL, OP shouted "Your MIL has fallen off" to which he replied "Thank goodness, I thought I'd gone deaf"!
I'm so sorry- I have an amazing MIL as well, I know how lucky it is to have that special relationship.

Load More Replies...A Pew Research Center survey in 2018 revealed that the majority of people in the US know at least some of their neighbors. Americans over 65 years of age are more likely to be acquainted with most of the people in the community. In contrast, approximately a quarter of adults under the age of 30 don’t know anyone in their vicinity.

My Neighbors Built Their New Fence Around The Trees On Their Property
Yes, and I'm sure they'll fine a way to make it work when the trees grow, if they put so much effort in it to begin with...

My Neighbor Got His Reindeer Decorations Stolen, So They Put Out Grinch Ones Instead
It might be illegal, but he'll get 10 point from me for putting up the posters
There is no judge in the world who would find this person liable for putting up those posters.
Load More Replies...I had a neighbor steal something from my yard sale. He didn’t realize we had cameras and I found his name through Facebook so that night I made giant signs and put them on the front of my house with his name calling him out for being a thief and another that said SMILE YOURE ON CAMERA. He came back the next morning after looking at them, knocked, looked again, came back that afternoon and said he “forgot” to pay for the item. It wasn’t even much. Offered the money for it and asked if I’d take the signs down. But he was clearly on camera looking around when my fiancé and I had both run in the house to grab something we forgot to put out FOR HIM TO LOOK AT. He bought some items but sneakily stuck that item into his pocket. 🙄 I said yea dude, sure you did lol
JC, that is effin sad. On my local news this morning, someone stole an A/C condenser from a family owned bookstore. Can you believe that s**t? They got a new one from money donated on Gofund Me and whoever installed it put a cage around it.
Load More Replies...Love that he is putting the thieves on display. Got to fight back any way we can.
It may be illegal, but still a powerful statement - I hope the thief is caught.
It was also noted that neighborly interactions happen more in person than over the phone or text. Americans who know at least a few people around the area enjoy having face-to-face conversations. For instance, it’s common to bump into your neighbor at the local grocery store and have a quick conversation.

Among people who know at least some of their neighbors, a majority of individuals admitted that they don’t attend social events in the community. Get-togethers are the best way to get to know someone. So, the next time you can, invite people over for a fun barbeque session or plan a pot-luck dinner. Taking initiative is important if you want to build any relationship.

Other ways to bond are by taking up hobbies together, organizing a board game evening, neighborhood cleanups, and yard sales. Sometimes, however, we might end up living next to not-so-friendly people. In that case, there’s nothing much you can do except behave civilly with them. But if your neighbors are actively hostile, rude, or disruptive, then you should inform the community and try to collectively come up with a solution for it.

My Neighbor Screened In His Garage For A Secondary Living Room
I know, they need AC. But maybe they like hanging out with the neighbors. My mom used to sew in the garage. We had no money to sew anywhere else. But also she really liked chatting with all the folks who stopped by while she worked.
Load More Replies...When my younger brother was in highschool, him and his friends reorganized the garage and set up a hang out for themselves. My mom figured, since they did all the work, to just go with it. Made it easier to know where he was, while still allowing them independence away from the actual house (all the garages in the neighborhood were detached).
My grandparents had a detached garage that could hold a large box truck. i don't recall it having a working garage door but it had electricity and it's where everyone went when it started raining during family bbqs! I know there was a radio and a fridge but maybe not a tv yet. So this looks normal, albeit fancy, to me.
One Of The Neighbors Built A Mini Skate Park For His Kid
That's so much safer then the homemade skate ramps we made when I was a kid. Plus, we used to go down to this big a*s storm drain that ran through a little park close to my house. We would skate as fast as we could since it had a bunch of cool curves. I got my baddest case of road rash hauling a*s through that thing. There were trees on both sides of the drain and when fall came you would get big piles of leaves that you could go through. I was going as fast as I could and aimed for a really big pile of leaves, but I didn't know there was a big branch buried underneath the pile. I hit it and I went one way and my board went another, since I was wearing cut off sweatpants and a sleeveless shirt I threw out my arms to protect my head. I tore both arms up as well as my knees and shins, walking home and my Mom seeing me was scarier then wiping out. I heard about that one for YEARS from my Mom!
I love this. Now for the negative points. Some communities and insurance companies would view this as an Attractive Nuisance (like leaving a ladder up unattended). So, I hope this person cleared it with the town and his insurance company.
EEEK! My first thought is "beware the attractive nuisance!" If they're in the US I hope they have lots of liability insurance. Sad, I know...
So My Neighbor Built This In His Back Yard
Ice skating rink! One year, my mom hosed down our little backyard so we (and neighborhood kids) could skate as the lakes weren't freezing
I have a friend who lives in Canada and all her kids play hockey. So every winter they fill the backyard with water and create a skating rink for them.
My sister and brother inlaw made a very small rink at their place for a few winters while I was still a kid. Very fun. This one is huge though! Also, I can see that logo in the middle from here... GO RED WINGS!
i want thisssss too bad i live in the south and it’s too cold, my whole team did skate down the roads with our skates during the massive freeze tho
is this even legal....Either way I want one. You got my full support.

We have an HOA and lots of our neighbors use colors like that in our upper middle class neighborhood. One family painted their house that color and then soon after there were that color and also some blues and yellows too. And no, I didn't live on the beach
Load More Replies...Thing is, back in the day, the Victorians actually did use a variety of bright colors for their houses. Pinks, purples, greens, as well as yellows. The past wasn’t all sepia toned.
That's so neat to think about! While it might not usually be my cup of tea, I think it's such a needed shock of color compared to all the other neutral homes.

I'm going to bet you $5 that's a bradford pear tree. Not only are they notorious for boughs splitting, weak crotches result in a multitude of narrow, weak forks that are very susceptible to storm damage, the flowers smell like rotting fish.
Mine has a bolt through for the same reason. Tree is still happily growing.

This picture could have been me... I broke a car trunk window last fall and thought the easiest to get the 1000 small pieces out of the grass was to vacuum them out. Worked like a charm.

Neighbor Left Up Their Bat After Halloween And Added A Little Christmas Flair
My neighbor did this with a giant spider web and a spider. It's still up with the Santa hat on..... It's May!
I had a large ceramic jack o' lantern that I left up all year; I'd put different hats on him depending on the season (bunny ears for Easter, a Santa hat for Christmas, a knitted turkey beanie for Thanksgiving, etc.) His name was Peanut. I had him out for 10 years or so before I stupidly hit him with a trash can by accident and broke him ;_; I've dreamed of leaving up one of those skeleton decorations all year and decorate it similarly, but my boyfriend won't let me XD We do, however, leave our Christmas lights up on the house year-round - we both love Christmas :) (And my van has a Christmas wreath permanently zip-tied to the grille year-round, haha)

Load More Replies...Iceland does this throughout most of the country. No one needs to shovel!
But Iceland has natural sources of heat...no fossil fuels needed there, as far as I know.
Load More Replies...We have several businesses in our town do this. They put water pipes under the cement and then run hot water through them. It keeps the sidewalks clear of ice and snow.
...and people wonder why we have a climate crisis. This is outright waste and should not be legal, in my view. Sure it looks cool, but the amount of energy required must be several kilowatts, every day, all day, throughout winter.
That's One Way To Beat The Heat Wave
I am not sure that would have worked as well. The curtains would be hung inside, so the heat would already be inside too.

My Neighbors Are Moving Their Entire House Back 200 Ft
Do you guys have no foundation for houses? Or is it just a wooden frame sitting on some bricks?
Maybe they are building a basement. My grandparents did this. Bought the house, jacked it up, then built a basement under it.
LOT of people here seem to have very strange definitions of 'Mobile Home'...
I wish I could move our house forward 20 feet; it's badly placed on the plot.
This happens near my home in mid-west US when the government widens an existing road or builds a new one. When they do, the owners want to move their homes farther away from the noise and traffic
That was my surmise. When the house was built, the road might not have been busy; now it is.

My Neighbors Appear To Be Moving Their Entire House 200 Ft Up In The Air
You add the storey underneath so you don't have to take off the roof.
Most of the time this is for insurance purposes, if you live in a flood zone this might be necessary to get coverage. The bottom floor is basically stilts with blowout panels to break away during storm surge.
Load More Replies...Flood proofing. Many homes have been lifted in eastern North Carolina (USA) coastal areas to avoid hurricane flooding.
I once watched a show in Germany where they did that. A House was newly built, but the problem was that the company who built it made the basement floor to low be legally used as living quarters. So a TV show who specialized in rescuing botched builds like that came, cut the whole house from the basement ans lifted it a bit to add more height to it. Was interesting to watch.
Well that's one way to beat global sea level rise.

My Neighbor Covered His Car With Actual Blue Jeans
Is your neighbour that person who is always covering their car with stuff, like pop sockets and bean sprouts? It even looks like the same car!
We have an Amish family living next door to us, while they finish building their farm house. They are, without doubt, the best neighbors I've ever had. We exchange things all the time...my unused art supplies to her children in exchange for fresh eggs from her hens, cupcakes are exchanged for homemade applesauce, fresh flowers from my garden are exchanged for tomato, squash and watermelon plants. All an unspoken thing, we just each share a little something once in a while.
When mom wanted me out of the house for a while (1960's), she'd have me walk down the road a piece to ask a neighbor if they wanted any, let's say, squash. She didn't give it to me beforehand. If neighbor said yes, I'd walk home and get the squash and then go back, where the neighbor then offered tomatoes to my mom. So walk back home, ask, walk back with the yes or no, and so on until dinner or streetlight time. Never occurred to me that it was set up with the neighbor, I just felt like a big deal being entrusted with such a task. I must have been 7 or 8 yo.

Load More Replies...We have neighbors from H*LL. Kids ride dirtbikes and 4 wheelers with broken mufflers all day every day whilst screaming at the top of their lungs. It seems the parents told them to do it away from the house so of course they do it right next to our property line all day. Also, both kids are hitting puberty so their screeching and voice cracking at each other all day is next level. They haven't learned how to talk in a normal inside voice yet so it's yelling and loud motors ALL DAY! Oh and the little one gets picked on by the older one tons so lots of crying too. Word of warning: Check your neighbors BEFORE buying the house.
Sounds like a good time to me, lol. My neighbors were gifted their place from wife's parents. She has a teenage daughter who flips out several times a month requiring a visit from the police (who BTW know the daughter by name). The son stands in the front yard screaming like he's being attacked by wild animals. Fun times!

I did that once. With a grass pruner. Took a week. My lawnmower was under repair.
