The idea is that you know a person so well, that there is little risk of buying the terrible gift. I you do not know that person that well, you should be allowed to bring a totaly generic gift. like a bottle of wine or the latest John Grisham.

Uhm ... that sounds like "I don't want it" to me. If I have burgers at noon I will not eat burgers at night.

I think everybody feels that way, and most people thinks oh god no, I can't sing, when they are forced to celebrate a birthday this way, and even the birthday boy/girl will be embarished when everybody's eyes is turned on them. So why we do it is still a conundrum for me.

I find it vice versa. Soft covers won't stay open, you have to break their spines or hold the pages down with a ruler, or use both hands. Hardcover you can leave open on your desk without using hands.

They play like the adults around them - my older daughter copies my wife and me, and we look after a baby so she wants to look after a baby too. I don't know how different it would be if we had a boy, or we didn't have a second child. Our older daughter also likes playing with cars and diggers, FWIW

I used to think so too. Then I learned that instead of infusing it with boiling water (100°C/212° F), I should use slightly cooler water (70°C/158°F), also the leaves shouldn't be in cup for too long. The difference is big. I'm not saying that he HAS to like green tea but for many people it's a matter of drinking badly prepared one.

I love the freshly made mini donuts from a kiosk near Leicester market. That place has been there for decades and if i'm in town with my daughter on a cold day we will get a bag each as they are nice and hot and the bag keeps your hands warm. :)

Some doughnuts I don’t like. Like plain ones. Not great. I say doughnuts need to have something on them but if you don’t want anything on them, fine by me. But in my opinion, cinnamon ones, excellent. Ones with chocolate icing, okay, I’ll eat ‘em. Ones with lemon icing, delicious!

Sorry, made properly, to my tastes, donuts are wonderful. Chocolate covered and custard filled are one of the foods served in heaven.

A goodm donut should not be sickeningly sweet. It should (the cake ones anyways) be half way between cake and bagel in taste, and firm with crispy edges you could cut a tree down with! :) My favorite is a molasses donut with plenty of spice.

blasphemy!...they are the little greasy wheels that make the world go round!...throw a box of donuts on the table at the beginning of a tough meeting...the anxiety level in the room drops by 10 points...even the healthies who won't eat them welcome the smell and look of them....

OP's been eating the wrong donuts.

plain cinnamon sugar, freshly made (like minutes old) donuts are awesome.. but as soon as you glaze it, or it's poorly cooked and stodgy (Krispy Kreme I'm looking at you) or try make it anything other than a a fluffy fresh donut its just disgusting

Very much depends on so many things. Ingredients, temperature, place where it's made.

I love the smell, but the taste never matches up. I'm more of a doughnut sniffer
