Dishwashers Have A Filter You're Supposed Clean
This one threw me through a loop. I am in my 30's and never heard of this. I know there are filters, but I did not know they were easily removable and meant to be cleaned.. Which is weird since my dad would fix things himself and taught me how to fix appliances, including dishwashers. So I googled and there are dishwashers with self cleaning filters. This was a more common feature in dishwashers before 2010. Self cleaning ones have a grinder in them similar to a garbage disposal. But these are loud so are not as common since there is more of a market for quieter dishwashers.
Works when it's a new. Machine Most homes you buy or rent already have the dishwasher.. no manual. I've had the same dishwasher for about 8 years got a new one last year landlord never left the manual

I bought a used house. Dishwasher filters were clogged, like they never rinsed plates - there were olive pits in the spray arm! It was caked with thick deposits of undissolved cheap wash powder. I cleaned it, but it never worked well enough.
Cleaning the air gap was what I was surprised by. You know that little nobby thing that is on the back edge of your sink? Where some sinks might have a soap dispenser? If there is a drain backup it stops the dirty water from flooding back into the dishwasher. If your dishwasher isn't draining right you should clean it. I will warn you, it is disgusting in most cases. Google, "dishwasher air gap."
How can you reach your 30s without knowing? If you don’t clean it, it will not clean the dishes properly and it stinks like hell.
Simple. You just didn't have a dishwasher until in your 30s. My parents didn't learn this until they were in their 40s, purely because they had always done their dishes by hand until then.

It says your DISH WASHER. Everybody talking about their clothes washer... My dishwasher does have a filter and if I don't clean it the machine will smell like spoiled garbage.

I've commented a few times about how ridiculous it is to have to look at 14 giant photos of someone's nostrils or making a slightly different face or those who spent 3 hours doing their make up so want every angel to be shown, hoping they'll pass an audition. Has it occurred to any of you posting all the negative comments, that he's just sharing helpful little 'hacks' or tips he's learned to use, that others may not have known about and can try them out for themselves. I've been putting sheets on beds for half a decade and until today I didn't know the tag is on the lower left of the fitted sheets! And putting salt in a pan with hot oil in it is a helpful tip for anyone who's just learning to cook, no matter their age. Sheesh, so much negativity from so many... it's discouraging to see here.

I did find the one about the dishwasher interesting. I had no clue it had a filter. I grew up overseas in a third world culture that didn’t have almost any of the technology I now have in the United States, including a dishwasher and a dryer. I had left the US when I was 8, so, when I first came back to the United States for college a few years ago, even though I was coming from a family that are citizens from America, I had no idea how to use a dryer or a dishwasher - even though I was 19. So, I find some of this stuff really interesting. Thanks!

You can’t see it in the screenshots, but in the video it’s him making fun of himself for not knowing these things. Of course not everyone is this ignorant, that’s the point. Sometimes it looked like he was just milking basic stuff for filler, like the wooden spoon to stop overflow, but some of this was good info! My husband and I weren't homeowners until fifteen years ago. Still on our first home, we're learning there is a lot of stuff we should have learned about and been don't all along and we are trying to catch up now. This week we're repairing our washer. It's been way out of balance and, once taken apart, we found a lot of wet lint deep in it. I think it will be fine now that it's cleaned, but we had no idea that there is a filter to be cleaned. I recently started treating our cabinets with beeswax, such a difference. We obviously should have been doing it all along, but had no idea. The travel pillow on front? I didn't fly regularly until my thirties. It was a few summers of flying home before I realized that one.

The guy is just showing others some of the things he's learned in life that come in handy for him, and he's sharing some of his helpful hints to others who may not have anyone else to teach them things. I'm a lot older than a lot of you and I've never seen tongs used to juice a lemon before, so I don't have a juicer, and I'm going to try it! Sounds like a good idea. And the salt in the hot oil of a skillet is a helpful tip, too. Why knock every single tip with such ugly, negative & 'judgy' remarks? His home looks very clean, I didn't see "up his nostrils" and I think he presented a few helpful tips for folks who'd like to learn something new to help them navigate thru some of lifes mundane chores. Old adage that applies here; If you've got nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all.
