Jimmy Fallon Asks People To Share What Laws The World Is Lacking, And Here Are 30 Responses
Law, morality, and common sense aren’t always one and the same. We all have our own personal insights into what society does wrong and there’s no denying that there should (probably) be some new laws to improve everyone’s lives.
Well, Jimmy Fallon, the host of The Tonight Show, invited his followers to participate in the #ThereShouldBeALaw challenge. He asked them to tweet out their opinions about what new laws we should totally have.
We collected some of the very best responses, so scroll down, upvote the suggestions for new laws that you agree with, and remember to share them with your friends. If you have any ideas for laws yourselves, share your thoughts with everyone in the comments below.

This would be a very hard thing to prove. It would also be difficult to decide what the criteria is because churches are made up of human beings who are flawed. So although a churches intentions may be good and although they may do their best to walk the way the Bible instructs, some people are going to fail at some point or another. There is no perfect church. Yes, there are some that are downright evil though they claim to be places of God, but most try their best to reach people and build lives.

I think there should be a asset limit that any church that owns more than $X in assets should have that excess taxed at a specific rate. The limit could differ locally, but in no community should the church be the most affluent "business."

My church looks like this, but it's not because the church is rolling in cash. It's because members of the congregation make contributions to pay for these. A lot of times people will just donate equipment to the church such as the screens, projectors, lights, instruments etc. which all has an impact on membership. You can argue whether it attracts or pushes people away, but in our case the congregation is booming, and our pastors still take home a very reasonable salary at the end of the day - they are not rich.

So Why not keep the church a humble place and give that money/equipment back to less fortunate places in your community? Why does it have to be so fancy? I don't understand your mentality, sir. The cost of that kind of building is huge and not just to build it either. The utilities would be very expensive every month. You know There's probably schools that could utilize some of those instruments and A/V equipment etc or a hospital getting upgraded instead of building something so costly being built in the first place. There are a lot of people that could've been helped with the money spent on that building

In this case I disagree, the church is appealing to new audiences that fit today's world expectations. BUT, if your pastor makes over $100k, then the church needs to stop as now it is all about money....heck, we can even lower that amount in certain areas. Like small city idaho, 30k, but downtown LA? nope 30k wont work.

Churches, the good ones at least, are not-for-profit, even if they look like that. Having lights and sound equipment doesn’t mean jack. That’s like saying the Make a Wish Foundation or the ACLU should pay taxes because they produce large scale things.

I think the point is, imo, if I donated to a church I'd rather the money go toward feeding the homeless or keeping the lights on instead of having a laser light show like above. People should want to go to church because they want to and to worship and be humble, not for a show. And you don't think the above church is making a huge profit??

I get that trust me. The Vatican is ridiculous. But I grew up going the Catholic school and the priests take vows of poverty. They have to live on church grounds and they are allowed a little pocket money but everything they have belongs to the church. Our church was humble and not showy. Same thing with nuns. There's a lot of problems in the Catholic church too. I am now a "questioner". Don't know exactly what to believe anymore when it comes to religion. I definitely do not believe the earth is flat and don't believe it's only 6000 years old. How can half the bible be real and the other half fake? I think some of the people existed but the stories were stretched or just made up as bedtime tales for kids when they asked where we came from or why we had to mind our parents.

Bored Panda reached out to Abby Lampe, one of the people who responded to Jimmy Fallon and said that people who "can't use the correct use of too, to, two, and your, you're" should go to a mandatory workshop.
She believes that "a lot of people misuse homophones and although they may have been through the education system, they still have flawed grammar."
"I see it all the time throughout social media and people texting," Abby added.
"The law would be helpful for those who maybe were dropouts or didn’t take school very seriously. It would emphasize that grammar is important in today’s society and hopefully would allow them to understand the differences and how to use homophones correctly," she explained why such a law would actually be useful.
Abby told Bored Panda that she's a big fan of Jimmy's: "I’ve been in the audience and I’ve had two tweets appear on his show. I’ve been a fan for about 7 years now."
Bored Panda also spoke with Jesser who explained how there should be a law against using the same knife for peanut butter and jelly when making a sandwich.
According to the Twitter user, their family inspired them to come up with this law and they hope that this new law would teach people better manners and etiquette.
Jesser revealed that they're a fan of Jimmy's as well. "I rarely watched The Tonight Show before Jimmy Fallon was the host. He's fantastic!"
A lot of the things that people tweeted about in response to Jimmy’s challenge have to do with common sense. And you’re probably sick and tired of hearing this, but it’s applicable here: common sense is not common.
According to Dr. Jim Taylor on Psychology Today, common sense is one of the most “revered” qualities in the United States. Unfortunately, not a lot of people are as down to earth and practical as we might expect.
Taylor explains that if common sense were common, most people wouldn’t make the silly mistakes that they do every single day of their lives. In his opinion, if people had common sense, they wouldn’t “buy stuff they can’t afford.”
What’s more, they “wouldn’t smoke cigarettes or eat junk food.” In Taylor’s view, common sense is limited by our personal experience which can lead to bad decisions. In other words, for common sense to be common, we all need more education and worldly experience.

People should just mind their own business, seriously. People can speak whatever language they want... they're not hurting anyone! I commend people that frequently travel or after drive to pick up and move to an entirely different country. It's become so intolerable, I just don't get it

But what about morality not always being the same as the law? According to Dr. Eva Tsahuridu, the law “sets minimum standards of behavior while ethics set maximum standards.” That’s why something that’s legal doesn’t necessarily mean that we see it as acceptable or ‘good.’ It also works the other way, too: something that we consider to be ‘good’ doesn’t always become law. There’s an overlap between the two, sure, but they’re not one and the same.
However, that doesn’t mean that laws are useless. In fact, they’re vital for preserving civilization and allowing society to function. But it’s important to keep in mind that laws are very specific while morality is concerned with doing the right thing in life as a whole.

I actually didn't realize until recently how huge of a problem this is. This is a documentary I bumped into not too long ago, and it angered me beyond belief. This couple blatantly admitted having children so they could be taken care of. It's one thing when nature takes its course, and something happens where a parent needs constant care. A corollary axiom to this law - IF you chose to wear skin coloured leggings, they must have a dark triangular patch on the crotch so it looks like pubic hair. If you're not too embarrassed to wear that, then knock yourself out.

I find airports even worse. It's the walking texters who create the biggest bottlenecks. Next would be those individuals who have no idea where they are - and feel they must disrupt the flow of traffic while wearing their clueless face as they stand and stare in multiple directions. And almost as bad as the walking texters are the groups of travelers/families who create a slow-moving wall while mindlessly babbling with each other. In every case, some of us actually DO have somewhere we need to be.

I have a thick mat that can be cleaned so that when I drop crockery it doesn't shatter. I drop things quite often. Fitted carpet would be yeuch

There should be a law, that the prosecutor have to put twice as much time on asking about the suspected rapist underwear, clothes and sexual background, as have been spent on asking the victims the same thing.

It's sad how in America the victim has to prove their innocence in rape cases and how the lawyer for defense has the right to literraly drag the victim through the mud. I really don't agree with women saying that it doesn't matter if men go to jail on false accusions of rape, but I also can't understand why a lawyer has the right to harras a victim.

There should be a law against turning EVERYTHING into a YouTube video. No, it is not the best format for tutorials that do not require moving pictures to explain. Telling me how to create a foreach loop in ssis with variables requires TEXT and PICTURES not videos.

In Scotland the police come round every year to check on it and if you haven't used it or don't have a valid reason to use it they take it away (handguns are also prohibited) in Scotland guns are really only used for hunting fowl.

The only one I didn't like was the Christmas one. I'm kind of irritated with the Christmas haters lol - I don't tell people how to decorate their home. I wouldn't even think of telling them what kind of music to listen to. Yet....Christmas music/decorating enrages people.

Can't agree with the one about paying attention to every dog and cat one sees. I HATE, DESPISE, ABHOR, DETEST cats with a vengeance! I do stop and communicate with dogs if I know they're a safe one, but never with unknown ones---I'm not about to be the next victim of some animal that's gone berserk! Stupid suggestion from some stupid person who's far too much into their own fantasies about animals.

There should be a law that whenever the cashier asks if you want to donate to a charity you should be able to donate a portion of your bill that charity, if in fact they are really being charitable. Or at least have your sales tax applied to that charity.

There should be a law that people have to pass a test, a psyche exam and get a license for having pets, and should be jailed if they abuse or abandon the animal. And there should be a law that acts of blatant stupidity in public are punishable with a fine or jail time..

Members of a Parole Board who allow someone to go free should do time if the parolee commits another crime. They should have exactly the same punishment. I've got friends who were murdered by parolees.

People that emphasize conduct or behaviour that is a common nuisance to a lot of people should be honoured. If you feel offended by them, chances are likely they are opposing to your behaviour in public and you know that you are acting like a total POS in public.
