You don't need to be a computer person to know that exposed wires are trouble. Or that driving a bolt through a screen might cause it to go black. But to some people, technology is so foreign that even these concepts are hard to grasp.

So when they inevitably damage their software and hardware, someone needs to show up and fix the problems... As well as take a picture and post it on the subreddit 'Tech Support Gore' to remind everyone that IT literacy matters.

Holy jumping Jesus on a pogo stick! Cat hair and cigarette smoke mixed with carpet dust. The dumbest pc clean out I ever had was a woman who kept her pc in her sewing room. She had recently been cutting velvet, but couldn't figure out why her pc wouldn't turn on. Opened it up and not only was her powersupply packed with velvet so were all of her fan screens and IO radiators...

Only a paid extended warranty would cover that (more akin to insurance). Certainly not the manufacturer warranty. Those tend to only cover defects. I can certainly see someone who doesn't know that to try something like this in an attempt to get a new one. Some people will try anything to skirt the system.

LOL. So much effort to make something bad. For those unfamiliar, winding wire amplifies the magnetic field. In transformers and electromagnets this is a good thing. In data cables not so much. So even with "normal" network cable you want to minimize how much extra cable you have coiled up to prevent signal interference. To add a bunch of unshielded tight windings intentionally is just a big NOPE. It's a data cable, not a macrame key ring fob

Fun prank that used to be done back in the earlier days of windows (guess you could still do it), would be to take a screen shot, move all the files from the desktop into a folder and make the screenshot the desktop background. I, of course, never did this...seriously....I didn't.

Note that sometimes people don't realise that it has gotten wet. Roommate in Beijing had her laptop seize due to the summer humidity; and my last one died because housemate spilled drink on the table with it on, cleaned everything up, and told no one until a rant about the computer tech being an a*sehole about not knowing why it had gotten wet.

This is very much fake. Currently, 2TB flash drives would never be so cheap, and they can't be produced reliably so aren't going to the commercially available to the layman. This is definitely hacked to read 2TB but is probably 8/16GB. If you need this much portable storage - get an SSD or external HDD.
