Even good cursive can be difficult to read, not only does the handwriting suck; she also didn't write on the lines because 'wtf are those for anyway' I guess. I used to have to decipher the hieroglyphs of marriage license clerks from 1898- 1998 in horribly damaged and faded record books and microfilm. And now i have to decipher the scribbles of the Dr. I work for. There is nothing practical about cursive. It was developed for writing with quill pens which were fragile and ran out of ink quickly. Writing in cursive allowed wet ink to be dragged across the word and limited the number of times the quill was pressed to the paper extending the life of the ink and the pen. Modern pens don't have those limits and so it is more effective to print in a way most people can read quickly.

I don't think this cursive is actually too messy. I mean, maybe I'm comparing it to my own hellacious chicken scratch, but after a moment of orienting myself, I had no trouble whatsoever reading it.

We only write in cursive. It flows so easily versus printing.

I could read that, and I had no idea you could write down in cursive, i thought it was just an option from the word processors to make your text look fancier. So how would the regular handwriting be then??

I learned cursive and I was squinting hard when I read that.

cursive was invented when people wrote with quill pens & ink pots. quills break easily, drip when lifted, & pool excess ink left on the page. dragging ink across the page until it ran out solved this problem by reducing the number of times the quilltip had to meet the paper & spreading the ink as far as possible so it wouldn't pool in the stroke of one letter, & obviously keeping a full quill down until it's empty means no drips. today, we have ballpoint & gel pens, graphite pencils, typing technology, etc. cursive is obsolete. it can be very fun to learn in one's free time, but it isn't necessary in this day & age, & it's a real pain for those with dyslexia. it isn't "terrible" for it to be cut, it's just a sign that schools are adapting to keep up with the times. besides, kids have awful handwriting already. no teacher wants to try to decipher a kid's cursive crayon mess, lol

I usually write in cursive myself, but still found it hard to read this. The ex-Karen doesn't have the best handwriting.

It's not that we can't read the cursive, it's bad wriiting.

Some of the words are pretty difficult to make out regardless. She scribbled "concern" both times. That might be why people are having trouble.

Why put down something that makes others happy? Just because you don't like it doesn't mean its illegible- which, by the way, technically doesn't refer to music as you hear it, you don't read it. Plenty of people write in cursive. I almost always do. I know who the douche is and it's not the woman who wrote that note.
