So this is basically making fun of Xavier via "go fund me", as he obviously dared to complain about some flatmates´ guests using up his expensive olive oil. So maybe they didn´t use all that much and Xavier is being dramatic. But as a foodie I tend to side with him here: it sucks to spend good money on food and then have it used for days without asking by some flatmate. Not to speak to then be publicly humiliated for complaining towards flatmates. So maybe it was all in good humour, but my guess is on Xavier just being out looking for another room...

Funnier thing is that the "Pouce" ("thumb") brand is the cheap discount brand made and sold by French retailer Auchan. It's actually cheaper and lower quality than the Auchan brand itself (the same way Carrefour has the Carrefour and Carrefour Discount brands sold in its supermarket).
