28 Things Which Expose Any Person’s Low Intelligence, As Shared In This Viral Thread On X
The smartest person on the Earth nowadays is considered by many to be Terence Tao, a professor of mathematics at UCLA, who rightfully has the nickname "the Mozart of maths." Professor Tao's recent IQ test showed a result of 230 - and this is simply unbelievable. For example, Albert Einstein never took an IQ test, but many researchers estimate his score at 160.
And what about the dumbest person ever? There are definitely no clear criteria here, and each person has their own point of view on what is considered stupid and what is not. However, people are willing to share their observations on this matter on the internet.

Especially if the celebrity has done some messed up things and the people just ignore it or gloss over it
My friend refused to believe a certain hot Scottish actor, who she thought it was really him messaging her, vowing his love for her, etc. was a scammer; long story short, after a couple of weeks she was having problems with her FB and her “love” fixed it for her. After that, she couldn’t access her account and 17 major purchases were made in her name.
I absolutely do not understand the attraction of "celebrity" (in the general sense, as a concept) at all. It makes no sense to me.
Today I would have thought electing Trump was the most obvious sign of low intelligence, as a nation.
#2b (is that the right order?) Hating on someone else's "wrong" deity worship, and saying they are living their life wrong.
Load More Replies...You are a sad human. Your side won and you STILL can't be happy. Get a grip.
Load More Replies...It’s a good way of telling that they have no actual argument
Those who scream the loudest do it because they know they're wrong.
Load More Replies...I see this everywhere but mostly when it comes to politics. It's sad how much both sides resort to this
I honestly love that you’re commenting this on most posts because unfortunately it’s so apt.
Load More Replies...No, there are plenty of intelligent people who are deluded and illinformed.
True. But the sign of intelligence is recognizing that and acting accordingly, not "doubling down".
Load More Replies...and yet those same people will accuse those who did change their opinions of various forms of cowardice or disloyal, or weak.
For example, recently, a couple of weeks ago, the user @mariaxxnn asked this question on X: "What’s a sign of very low intelligence?" As of today, the tweet has 533 reposts, more than 6K likes and over 10.8K various quotes. Without taking into account the inevitable repetitions, of course, it turns out that human stupidity has so many different facets! So welcome to this selection of the most interesting opinions of the thread, made for you by Bored Panda!
I have completely no curiosity. Sometimes I stay up late at night wondering why that is.
lack of curisoity is not a sign of low intelligence: they just arent interested.
Racism and bigotry is a learned behavior, usually taught to children and engrained in them by their parents/family members. The fact that as they get older... they never get that 'sense' of "this doesn't feel right" ...is where the lack of intelligence comes into play. They've refused to go out and learn for themselves.
It can be learned, but I do think that an intelligent person can see past it. My father didn't grow up during apartheid (he was born before it was codified in 1948) but his father was, to quote my dad, "a terrible racist". Apparently he chased Dad's Black friend away and would make shocking comments. But my dad saw right through it and stood up for everyone during the apartheid years. He was thrilled when our first free elections happened. My mom used to run outside into the street during "pass raids" and yell at the cops for their treatment of people. We grew up with them as our example. And Star Trek.
Load More Replies...Both are just so pointless - plus different people are so *interesting*!
@Phillip Moderow rats are incredibly intelligent animals who have shown in multiple experiments to have empathy and help other rats
Dear Phillip - please consider letting go of the hate. It does absolutely no good.
Among the points of view presented in this selection, there are both frankly parodic, satirical, and certainly truthful. Both signs that have grown on the wave of modern hype, and some "eternal values," relevant both today and several centuries ago. And even millennia - after all, what is "celebrity worship," if not an attempt to rethink the ancient biblical commandment "Thou shalt have no other gods before me"?
I think every one of these could be applied to Cheetus and his cult.
Load More Replies...are you sure about that? what about the perspective that global warming is false? or the perspective of flat earth? or anyhting MAGA people say? are you sure you want to learn from those scum?
Never know what someone's life is like, don't even have to agree just have to listen.
True but also not everyone has access to birth control and the choice whether to keep the embryo or not is getting more and more restricted in the world. Accidents happen unfortunately. Don’t get me wrong, I am a parent and I am well aware that many people shouldn’t be in charge of a child but some of the current laws in the world do not make the situation any easier.
And yet, people decry teachers giving kids the guidance they will need to navigate the world.
Load More Replies...People can lose their job, become ill or divorce and be in a much worse financial situation than when they had children. It can happen to most of us.
I totally sympathize with that, especially with all the economic fluctuations in the last several years. I think OP is referring to those people who work minimum wage jobs, or barely make ends meet and still refuse to use condoms/bc
Load More Replies...That's exactly what people who say this believe.
Load More Replies...Ofc you have the people who get a child on accident and can’t get an abortion (Hello Texas!) but still!!!! BRO!!! You do not need to cram 6 kids in a one bedroom apartment random lady on TikTok!!
I'm on the fence with this one. While it is true that there are people who neglect their kids or expect everybody else to pay for them, anybody can fall on hard times through no fault of their own (illness, redundancy, bereavement, divorce).
I'm disabled, and sometimes the effort to return the cart is just too painful.
When we are at shopping, people ripping 2 bottles out of a sixpack while another open sixpack already exists. At the end of the day there are dozen opened sixpacks.
"In fact, in such cases, when there are no clear criteria for defining a category you should always look at the context," says Valery Bolgan, a historian and editor-in-chief of the Intent news agency from Ukraine, with whom Bored Panda got in touch for a comment here. "Or consider the actions, decisions and words of people from a retrospective point of view. The more time paasses - the better."
"For example, at the time of the Titanic's departure from the port of Southampton, buying a ticket on the most luxurious and safest ocean liner in the world certainly looked like incredible luck and the right decision. But after a few days our assessment would have changed, wouldn't it?"
Nah, this is tied to pride or people not believing they're wrong rather than intelligence.
I would say, not ever believing you could be or are wrong is a definite lack of intelligence. But... I could be wrong ;)
Load More Replies...This sounds like a certain orange political figure I know…
nah, thats just a natural reaction to something unexpected. its called manners and is a sign thay aint a karen
Load More Replies...I disagree with this one. One of the most intelligent people I know never ever apologises, and it's infuriating.
Most things are intertwined with politics. I'm sorry, but it dictates most of my life just by virtue of owning a uterus.
There's some kind of "bro" stuff going around now, "Your body, my choice. " Abolutely chilling.
Load More Replies...Of it was a man that said this stupidity. Politics in the US today very directly affect every part of my life, since I am a brown woman with a uterus
For real lol. Everyone's happy on this site until you have a slight difference in opinion
Load More Replies...It depends. People with personality disorders, which they're many. They struggle with rejection, put downs or blows to the ego, all depending on the personality. It's all from trauma. It doesn't mean they're not intelligent. Also they're many ways people can be intelligent. It's not just to society's standards. Someone could not know how to read or write but then be highly intelligent in a whole other way. Borderlines are emotionally instable due to sensitivity from their trauma. But they have a sharp sense in reading others emotions and behaviors and pick up on keen observations that others don't notice. They're are extremely self aware. Empathic and put themselves in others shoes as they feel so deeply. Yet they have emotional outbursts and are self destructive. This is an example of behaviors in people. Narcissists protect their ego at all costs.. they will hurt you and scream at you, doesn't matter. Whatever the behavioral reaction is, it's all from trauma and protecting that fragile sense of self. They're also intelligent despite this. My Dad was a malignant narcissist who'd throw the Monopoly game bored and yell if he lost. This man was highly intelligent. He worked as an inspector in aerospace and then went on to build bridges. Sadly due to his trauma and personality disorder his personal life and relationships were a wreck.
This is pride rather than low intelligence. Just because you're smart doesn't mean you are not a narcissist or overly proud.
"However, there are always patterns of behavior that look completely disrespectful to other people and, if they are repeated regularly, can really be regarded as a sign of low intelligence. And, what is most sad, this has almost nothing to do with the level of IQ," Valery summarizes. Yes, in the end, history knows too many cases when undoubtedly smart people repeatedly did some stupid things...
This is cowardice or perhaps even intelligence. An intelligent person will calculate risk vs reward and if they draw the line here will they lose an opportunity for a larger gain later.
As Stephen Hawking once said: "People who boast about their IQ are losers"
I remember someone saying "having a high IQ does not necessarily mean you are intelligent. It just means you are good at iq tests."
Load More Replies...Love the IQs of homeschooled children posted by parents, who are proud that their kid has an IQ of 76, and thinks he's a genius.
Gotta disagree. Psychopaths don't have empathy and are often incredibly smart. Same with narcissistic people.
Not all psychopaths are smart. I've read a couple of books that say their intelligence runs from low to high like the rest of the population.
Load More Replies...This has nothing to do with a person's intelligent and a very ignorant comment 🙄 Narcissists are intelligent 👌 they build mega churches and what about that Scientology guy? Money.. money.. money.. power and control. Borderlines are paranoid but they're also highly intelligent. Marilyn Monroe for example. Would you say she lacked intelligent due to her BPD? JFK for his narcissism? These are examples. Hitler was extremely intelligent. Just because he did unspeakable things doesn't mean he was not smart.
I think this one needs care, I don't think it's necessarily wrong but that could be mental illness flare-up or a triggered trauma response
In any case, we sincerely believe that you will be interested in reading this collection, so please feel free to read and scroll it, comment on the viewpoints you find worth discussing - and for sure add your own ideas of such signs. After all, as the ancients said, "there are no limits to human stupidity" - and all we can do is to observe and study it.
Welp I may be ugly but atleast I’m decently OK socially I guess :DDD
I always say "I may be ugly, but I am a lot of fun!"
Load More Replies...Men get very little information from looking in a mirror. I've known butt-ugly men who thought they were at the top of the food chain.
Actually being afraid of the unknown is a smart tactic until you know all about the dangers of that unknown and how to navigate them. Like that old song: fools rush in where angels fear to tread.
I'm not Catholic. Is thenunknown something to do with women who dress like penguins?
I moved from a big city to a moderately small city. People would freak out when I drove for about a year or so living here. Big differences in driving behavior from a big city.
I moved from NYC to the Miami area. Thought I knew aggressive driving, but it’s lawless down here! I was doing 85 mph in a 65mph zone, and a cop got behind me, so I dropped to the limit. Cop honked & went around me. I wasn’t even in the left lane!
Load More Replies...Over and over I say, "gosh, I hope that's not the best idea you've had today".
The percentage of a**e oles on the road just about equals the percentage of people who voted for Trump. Coincidence?
Refusing to engage in current affairs is a form of mental healthcare right now. So lets all talk about food instead.
Let's talk about food for the next four years. I love food. Food, food, food!
Load More Replies...Does it still count if I'm having salmon pasta for tomorrow ? With cream and cheese in it ?
No, talking about good food is a sign of intelligence, OP is wrong.
Load More Replies...None of those are signs of a lack of intelligence. There are a lot of opinions that are just straight up not worth listening to, current affairs can trigger depressive episodes, sometimes you just want a shallow, basic conversation and hell yeah rave at me about your dinner! give me the recipe, tell me why you love it so much yadayada.
I'm not going to engage in a heartfelt conversation about how the earth is flat with a person who is otherwise a good friend.
I have to disagree about this showing a lack of intelligence, as there are a lot of things that go into this. Neurodivergents such as myself may experience difficulty regulating emotions, for example--it's not that we're unintelligent when this causes lapses in sound decision-making, our brains are wired very differently and can make a situation more difficult than it needs to be, beyond our control at times. Not to mention depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and a number of other mental illnesses can similarly affect a person's judgment despite their intelligence and best efforts.
Why should someone (not mentioning names) not boast that they are a "stable genius"?
I gotta disagree to a minor extent cuz I, unfortunately, understand a lot about trauma and cptsd. But once that person knows they're routinely making emotional decisions, there's no excuse.
As a bartender, this drives me crazy! Had someone ask for a green tea shot (Jameson, peach schnapps, sour mix and Sprite). Easy peasy because you can mix up multiple shots in a shaker. She complained “it didn’t taste strong”…it’s supposed to taste like green tea! Turns out, she didn’t want the mixers. Just the alcohol. And the kicker? She was a coworker!
Unrelated(ish) to this article, why the BP watermark on other people's responses, other people's words?
I prefer silence but I know some highly intelligent people who need the noise. This is just personal preference.
A friend of mine writes books about NZ history. He likes to listen to Scandinavian death metal to relax...
Load More Replies...I can't have silence, my mind races and intrusive thoughts appear. This has nothing to do with intelligence, or lack of it.
Yes! I participated in a study that proved some of us need background noise in order to focus.
Load More Replies...I crave silence as well. On the other hand, my step daughter has ADHD and Asperger's, she needs constant noise. She now has really good headphones.
I crave silence!! No one understands this. I was a public school teacher for 25 years.
Teacher here 30 years and counting and boy I get you. Coming home and just enjoying silence with a cup of tea is like healing balm to my soul
Load More Replies...I crave silence, but I know more intelligent people who need constant noise to stop them overthinking
I love falling asleep to the sounds of rain and thunder playing on Calm.
Extremely intelligent people sometimes have bad manners bc they don't care.
I knew a young male gymnast at Stanford who chewed with his mouth open.
So, you downvoted this because you're a fan of open mouth breathing?
Load More Replies...Ye. If you get me talking, I will continue to do so until I run out of things in the topic. This is def my neurodivergence in work
Load More Replies...but - but- you mentioned how the flag of Nepal looks! Don't you want a lesson in vexillology?
Just because people don't care or love chaos or are evil, doesn't mean they lack intellect.
Do they mean similarities? Only thing I can think of is trump and Hitler.
Load More Replies...Not this one either. I knew a classmate, brilliant really, at Stanford who stunk to high heaven.
They're all originally pagan holidays that were adopted/stolen by the church. Dude's just being a bigot against Christian's.
Load More Replies...The American "right" always gin up a culture war about an imagined war on Christmas. The only people who should go to war against Christmas are Christians. Spending $936 billion annually on gluttony, consumerism and decorations and calling it "Christian" is blasphemous. But spending that money on the poor, suffering and sick would be socialism /s. That being said, I love Christmas, but I am not a Christian. source: https://explodingtopics.com/blog/christmas-spending-stats
Yes all three holidays started as pagan holidays and were co-opted by the Christian faith. But Halloween in the US has become mostly for kids as a secular holiday.
Most Christians celebrate those. I guess there are some hyper strict ones who refuse to do halloween because its pagan or something. But I think those are the ones who are likely more stupid than average
Most of these are nothing to do with intelligence, but are cultural and educational-related. Overall they simply show the personal prejudices and opinions of the people posting them, often making themselves look like they may belong in this list...
Anyone who voted for 'the orange man'. Go on, downvote me, I don't care.
voting for fascists beacuse you were ensnared by fear and bigotry?...
I don't think it was fear and bigotry, it was misogyny.
Load More Replies...Antivax: utterly stupid. Flat earth: utterly desparate for attention. DJT can fix the economy, Russia, N Korea, imigration, jobs, inflation,...
