People who have worked in the hospitality industry have created somewhat of a challenge on TikTok—those who have had the (dis)pleasure of serving celebrities are describing how the famous folks behave when the cameras are off.

I assisted on some audio post production on one of her films and she had to do some post dialogue recording. Absolutely kind, called everyone by their name, and served everyone bagels. And she's actually more gorgeous in person (but VERY petite).
These stories focus on much more than just tips, and I agree: some actions speak louder than words bills. But as a former waiter, I know that your tolerance tank gets way bigger if you're getting paid for your struggles.
If we were to look at Hollywood's generous tippers, thankfully, we'd see quite a long list. Jimmy Fallon, for example, kicked off 2020 at Kissaki Sushi in Water Mill, New York, with his wife Nancy Juvonen, and left a generous $400 tip for their waiter, a representative for the restaurant confirmed with PEOPLE. Fallon also agreed to take photos with fans who were eating nearby.

Yeah, if this last couple election cycles has shown me anything it has shown me that if you have the right connections and/or dirt on people you aren't going to be treated like the rest of us in the legal system. This applies to people from either of the main parties. That being said, while I don't like her, she's not stupid and she should get credit for being able to avoid the consequences of whatever illegal/sketchy things she and her husband may have done that aren't part of some pipe dream conspiracy. :-D FYI: Look at how often Trump has been investigated or at least sued and look at where he is. I mean, I've voted for the guy and he's definitely a douche, but how has he never ended up in jail over his financial or behavioral shenanigans?

Met one of her old high school classmates. Said she was really smart and not surprised she was where she was. Was an overachiever IIRC. This was during the Obama Admin. Can't recall if she was a senator or Sec. of State or whatever she was doing when I heard this. Went on one date with her he said. Pleasant enough. Actually wrote her when he realized who she was after Bill made it to the WH. It had been many years after school at that point. Never actually thought he'd get a reply but he did and she remembered him. Said something like it was good to hear from him again. Brought in his old yearbook and letter as proof.

She said she hated it and would rather eat "Fettuccine Alfredo all day long"..the audience whoooped it up! She went on to talk about how she at times just doesn't care if she gains weight, but she likes to get back into shape when she is working...but then doesn't care again when shooting stops. The best part is that such acts are contagious. On November 7th, Blue Bloods star Donnie Wahlberg dined at a Marshland restaurant location in Plymouth, Massachusetts, and left his server, Denise Andrews, a $2,020 tip on a $35.27 bill.
Later that month, his co-star Tom Selleck left a handwritten note and a $2,020 tip on a $204.68 bill for the servers at Elio's restaurant in New York City. In his letter, Selleck gave a special nod to his costar Donnie Wahlberg, who inspired him to share his good fortunes and good wishes with the staff. "For Elios, I am honoring my friend Donnie Wahlberg's 'Tip Challenge' [see next slide] with my sincere hope for a better 2020. Thank you all," the letter said.
Of course, nobody expects celebrities to pay crazy amounts of money every time they drink a latte, but it's certainly nice to see them helping hospitality industry workers.

Had the privilege to be her waitress in Monaco. She always remembered my name, very polite and patient, waited for anything as long as she had to do without complaining once, even when she had to wait like 2 hours for something. Not a fan, but I heard she's an introvert, and introverts can be mistaken as rude, especially when they're huge celebrities, and people wish to exchange a few words with them. But, as an introvert myself, this can be super tiring, so if that's true, I totally understand her. Genuine question....if a waitress serves,say 3 different tables every hour and they all tip 10% wouldn't she be on 30-40 dollars an hour? Here in uk I tip 10% and whoever is serving my table has 3-4 others so I would expect them to make decent money on a busy night...I'm not being disparaging here,I genuinely do not know what a busy waitress in a half decent restaurant makes....any answers??

Not everyone tips, not everyone tips that well, and it really depends on what the hourly wage is for a restaurant worker. So there is no generalization you can make about what servers make. In some places in the US, the wages are horribly low, particularly in the restaurant business. I just read an article about a bartender in Texas who makes $2.13 an hour in wages. After taxes and every other deduction from her pay, that bartender's paycheck can be a pittance. Tips are how she keeps body and soul together. In California, the servers make more money, but they don't necessarily work 40 hours a week, either. If tips are getting them $30/hour on one busy night, I don't begrudge that.

I can't stand people who assume they can take their dogs everywhere. A guy at Home Depot insisted his dog (a shepherd mix) was a service dog, but it was incredibly ill behaved, so yeah absolutely not a service dog. Service dogs go through a rigorous 22-24 month training process and most certainly would NOT TAKE A S**T in aisle 12.

The only time it should be done is if the person can't talk, is deaf, or someone that needs translating, social anxiety etc. Not because your a stuck up celebrity thinking your better than everyone else. Back when I worked in a bookstore (in Marin County, CA), a guy came in a few minutes before closing and just browsed. I was in charge of sweeping the store for customers than night, and I finally said to him, "Sir, we are closing. Please either make a purchase or return tomorrow." I may be able to shed light on this one. I used to work in a building that housed approx 2000 employees, with constant visitor flow to the various offices. Anyway when I went outside, if I saw someone coming I would hold the door open for them. Sometimes a few would pass. If they swanned past me without catching my eye or acknowledging me. I would say Thank you, thank you.....to each person. Basically I was reminding these people of thier manners.

Try an entire group of 12 people trying to carol at a senior's home and all forgetting the carols because none of us practiced before hand. In my own defense, I was like 9, but there were at least 6 adults trying to bumble through about 4 carols at the same time.

Michael Bublé was on. SNL for the Xmas episode a couple of years ago and must have been nervous because just as the camera zoomed in on his face forgot the words to a standard song. You could see the actual moment it dawned him he didn't know the next word. I remember thinking I bet he was embarrassed.

Imagine being a celebrity and now being critiqued by everyone you come in contact with when you're trying to go about your normal life. I'm all for calling out bad behaviour, but this seems unnecessarily intrusive.

Yeah but it doesn't take much effort to be nice and polite. Most think that because they are famous, that gives them the right to be dickweenies to those of us who buy tickets to see their shows, like we are beneath them. They are no better than the rest of us who chose not to go into acting, sports, modeling and anything else that seems to give them a sense of entitlement.

2006. L.A Autoshow. Worked security and had to "escort" Tom Cruise out of a side door. He grabbed my arm the whole time we were there while he took pictures and signed autographs. The guy smiled the whole time. Clearly knows his celebrity role, even when he just wanted to buy a Bugatti Veyron.

I was an extra in the movie "Nomadland." At the meal break for cast and crew, Frances McDormand sat with us extras like she was no one special, chatted with us, and asked if any of us wanted anything from the buffet when she went to get dessert. Very nice, unassuming, egalitarian person.

People brag that they know intimate details of celebrities...anecdotal and without any evidence. And most of these are totally trivial too: "was easy-going", "behaved sweet", "friendly". What is this obsession with allegedly famous people?

I just realized the title on BP is "Hospitality Industry Workers Are Revealing What It’s Like To Work With Celebrities". The original TikTok videos RATE celebrities on a numerical range, and it is by far less positive as it appears here. Publicly putting metrics onto people for your own pleasure or others' entertainment? (Their fame notwithstanding.) I think that is quite pathetic.

Not criticizing, but celebrities - just as anyone else - have good days and bad days. Of course some people are known to be this way or that way bla bla. But if one behaves a certain way with an employee it doesn‘t mean they‘re like this all the time.
