Some Things Are Associated Only With Rich People, And Here Are 29 Of Them, As Shared Online
Whatever you say, money is probably the greatest invention of humanity. At least, you can buy almost everything in this world with money (and a burger with your change). Yes, it won't actually buy you health and longevity, but at least with money, it all becomes much easier. And with big money - even more so.
Getting incredibly rich is one of the main dreams of literally every person on Earth, and polls and threads regularly appear on the Internet asking people to share what they would spend their money on if this dream came true. Today we offer you a selection of the most interesting opinions from one of such viral threads.

I would anonymously go onto gofundme postings looking for people in need of miracles like paying off surgeries & funerals etc and pay them completely.
This. What am I gonna do once I've bought a house and ensured money for comfortable instant retirement, buy a yacht? A private jet? Who wants MORE stuff to maintain? Nope. Once I'm sorted, i'd do like OP, scroll the GoFundMe's, and also just dole out as I wander the world and people fall into my path. I'm travelling to Greece and a couple of students are too broke for breakfast? I'm buying them whatever they want to eat. I come across an animal sanctuary about to close from lack of funding, here's the money to cover the next 5yrs. I'm in an Indian hospital with a broken arm, and a family next to me can't afford their newborns surgery? Slap that sh*t on my VISA and let's get this party rolling! My only condition is they MUST Pay It Forward.
Disappear. My biggest confusion of people having billions of dollars is not shutting the f**k up. You won the system, you could literally sit back and do nothing other than vacation and throw money at charities your entire life and for generations to come but instead these wealthy people think they’re entitled/obligated to meddle in public affairs and government.
If I had a billion dollars, I set up an affordable housing charity, then f**k off.
I would set up a charity for emergency eviction assistance. Like moving people's stuff into a storage unit and giving them a place to stay until they can find long term
I’d take an obscene amount of classes. From elder law to beekeeping to scuba diving, rock climbing and quantum physics, pharmacology and French cuisine. I’d know everything.
A few weeks ago, a thread appeared in the AskReddit community, where the topic starter asked netizens: "What is a rich person thing that you would be totally into if you became rich?" Today, the thread already has over 12K upvotes, and even more - 13K - various comments. People are very active in sharing and discussing dreams with - let's face it - a very low probability of coming true. On the other hand - why not dream?
Like, billionaire rich?
Build public libraries, parks, etc.
So like Andrew Carnegie who built over 2500 libraries (1679 in the US Alone), and over 100 parks. Though he also gave $350 million of his money to charity before his death, or 90% of his wealth (6.3 billion today), and left his widow and daughter $40 million (over $700 million today) stating, he was leaving enough for them to "live comfortably for the rest of their days". He also wrote "the man who dies thus rich dies disgraced", and said he wanted to leave a legacy for mankind.
Not working.
In particular, not working for money.
Be debt free.
Having a positive net worth is the minimum requirement for being rich...
Well, among the most popular points of view, a main idea stands out - people, for the most part, having suddenly and fabulously become rich, don't want to worry about tomorrow anymore. Just realizing that no matter how many years they live, there will be enough money for them, their kids, and their descendants.
And also, it is nice to realize the possibility of delegating some things to professionals with the ability to pay for the highest quality services. And, of course, various things that were unavailable to us when our bank account was not yet bursting with money: traveling to the most beautiful places on our planet, having your own plane, luxury cars for yourself and your friends, jewelry, and other attributes of a rich life, known to us from movies and TV series.
Taking a vacation without worrying how the loss in pay will affect my ability to pay bills. .
Tailored clothes. I hate the way clothes are made these days. So I would definitely get my clothes made specifically for me.
Bringing friends and family out for dinner and sorting the bill myself. Spoiling my parents.
What is also important, not many people wrote that they plan to spend money on charity - just two of the 29 people whose opinions are given in this selection. On the other hand, this is apparently the ratio of patrons to the simply moneyed folk in reality. Otherwise, our world would be incomparably kinder and more beautiful, wouldn't it?
What else makes you not lose faith in humanity - quite a few people admitted that should they receive wealth, they would still engage in self-development. Study, creativity, reading. After all, if there is no need to worry about tomorrow, why not create something truly outstanding?
Professional cleaners. My boss got rich and upgraded to the "daily cleaner does everything including putting away kids toys" level cleaning and man. His kids are going to be spoiled as s**t but what a joy to have a daily cleaned home.
I woundn't want a cleaner for normal messes, but a few times per year would be nice. In particularly for cleaning windows, I hate doing that. Oh and someone cleaning my sauna would also be lovely.
I would be really into owning a house. Maybe even more than 1 house. /cries in Millennial.
I wouldn't want to own more than one house I don't feel that's moral.. but I'd love to have a house that met my needs... as a disabled person I am feel so trapped at times
By the way, Bored Panda recently shared about this Canadian dad who gives really wise advice to people in case, for example, of a big lottery win. The main advice of this man is to first take care of increasing your wealth through wise investments, and only then to start realizing your dreams and whims.
This is actually quite reasonable because there is always the example of Edwin Castro who won the largest jackpot in the history of American lotteries a few years ago and bought a house in California - only to lose it in a recent fire. After all, no matter how unbreakable an investment in real estate may seem, it doesn't hurt to have a good investment portfolio as well.
Shrugging at money and fixing things on a whim.
I started dating a guy who came from a completely different background than me, and I was talking to him about how I needed to prioritize going to the dentist to fix a tooth, which I had been putting off because of money. His response was "Well, go do it then, it's only a couple of hundred dollars". Like... yes, that is the issue, that is A LOT of money.
It is important to look after your teeth, and I am getting it done, but that really made us realize that we did not have the same view on money.
Being able to chase my dreams and aspirations freely.
No budgeting, hoping everything lines up, and having it get derailed because unexpected expenses keep popping up.
Buying groceries without worrying about whether I went over budget.
Historians believe that the richest person ever was probably Mansa Musa, the ruler of the medieval Mali empire, who lived in the 14th century. Of course, the estimates of his wealth look very vague and are based on semi-legendary sources - but still, researchers say that the monarch had a wealth equivalent to $400B.
Well, we don't actually pretend to be that rich, but if you are ever lucky enough to have seven or eight zeros in your bank account, after reading this list you'll definitely have a couple of additional ideas on what to spend this money on. In addition to your existing dreams, of course... By the way, why not share them in the comments below this post?
A friend of mine is a D**K and does what he calls "star collection." By which I mean is that he and his wife go to Michelin starred restaurants (sometimes flying to different locations) and he keeps a little journal about each of the restaurants; he asks for the wine labels, typically keeps the menu, takes photos of the food, writes a little blurb about the stuff he liked/disliked, etc. It would be a pretty baller coffee table book some day, I think. Funny thing is, though: his wife is super finicky (doesn't eat fish or cheese and doesn't care for sweets), so the experience is almost always wasted on her. But if I were rich...sure. I'd do that.
is this supposed to be D**K? Double Income No Kids? Are we censoring that now too?
Isolating myself in a lake house for a couple years till I go insane trying to write a novel. And maybe buy a pair of Crocs.
“Summering”.
Buying s**t without looking at the price tag, or having to check my bank account.
I know it's really bad for the environment but the thought of taking a private jet from my home to my destination and avoiding having to deal with airport terminals and connecting flight seems like a dream. I'm not saying the millionaires are right, but I understand.
Getting a massage every 2-3 weeks.
OK, this is the one selfish thing I really gotta back, only i'd be doing it every week. Don't judge me if I end up having a masseuse on retainer living in the guest house....
My husband isn't rich by any means but he eats like he is and its amazing. Tasting menus are not b******t. They are overpriced but some of them are SO F*****G GOOD. He took me to Porto in Chicago for my birthday 4 years ago and I can still remember my favorite dishes so much. Even the water was amazing. It was a salty mineral water to go with the seafood. The meal was probably $800 altogether so obviously not worth it to most people on the planet, but God damn I wish everyone could experience a beautiful tasting menu at some point in their lives.
The Oxo building in London. I'm usually appreciative of good food, but even my down-to-earth soul could taste the totally different level this was.
I'd like to become a hobby pilot and have my own airplane.
High end Hotels and resorts. Nothing but the best.
I'd also treat my close friends to this so they can also have some enjoyable time without the expenses.
Building a labyrinth that connects all my fancy buildings underground.
I would never again wash and style my hair myself.
Having my own gym floor in my house.
I would buy derelict houses, completely renovate them and sell them on at an affordable price. I hate to see houses lying empty and derelict when there is supposed to be a housing shortage,
I know what I wouldn't do, and that's having a massive w***y-waving contest with space rockets. Or be a Nazi.
I'd just learn everything and donate to everything and go everywhere. You wouldn't even know I existed but I would have lived!
If I was billionaire rich it would ruin my life. Every morning I would be working to find how to use my fortune to the benefit of the most people. I could not trust this to anyone else because they'd steal from me. I could not go to bed that night without hoping I made the world a better place. Meanwhile, there are many billionaires out there and what are those (add any nasty word here) doing?
Buying a patch of land on the east side of Loch Lomond, so I can view the hills on the other side of the Loch every morning with my coffee. Build a 3-bed house and attached greenhouse, surrounded by fruit orchards and whatever veggies and herbs can be fit in. Set up some investments to take care of retiement, set aside enough to enjoy life for myself. Spend the rest helping out whomever I can, wherever I can, whenever I can, however I can.
If we're talking major-major cash I'd set up a foundation to dole out the money. I'd write the mission statement, maybe give them a list of my pet projects, and then take a portion and disappear.
Pay off the house. Stop working (or work way less). Go travelling. Spend a whole bunch on good things, like what that person said about paying off GoFundMe requests for stuff like funerals and whatnot.
I'd do the cultural trip thing... Visiting the remotest regions of Nepal and such...
For myself: A house with a workshop on one side behind/connected to the garage and hobbycorner which is connected to the living room (I like to stay in touch while crafting), at least 2 tables (one for dining and one for games), one part of the living room with books and music, the other part (around the corner sort of), with the tv and game consoles. A nice outdoor place for a big table, my porch swing and maybe a pool. On the other side of the house a dance studio which also could be rented out. As for the world: Local donations and improvements big and small, like paying for garden renovations that are better for rainwater collection/disposal (so replace brick by green), and national improvements (like pay for garbage recycling eventhough it will never be cost efficient but to ensure it gets recycled - or better yet, fund redesigning processes and products to be cradle to cradle.) Organize free music, theatre and dance events. Internationally, focus on nature and education.
BuY a farm in the middle of no where ! normal farmhouse 4 beds max plenty of land money in bank to keep it going till I die I’m 60 now so 😂a fair bit to my two kids then the rest to animal charity’s one being tia Torres pit bulls n parolees in New Orleans !
Basement concert space. No question. (having played many actual basements, I should specify "big enough to host, like, a decently-drawing tribute band")
I would take lessons: Italian cuisine in Rome, French language and culture lessons in Paris, Surfing in Hawai or Costa Rica and so on... I would take my kids to hike in Switzerald, explore the Amazon rainforest, do a river cruise on the Danube, skiing lessons in Canada, go to see the Great Wall and create many happy memories with them. I would also support different charities anonymously.
Build a bookstore/game store that specializes in being a safe and comfortable place for neurodivergent people.
If I came into money the first thing I would do is buy a house. Not put a deposit on a house and get a mortgage, I would find a home I could buy outright. Then I would set up trust funds for my kid, nieces and nephew. Then I would set up a regular donation to a local food pantry. Then I would take my kid to Japan for a month. Then I would buy a shop or cafe or something and hire a good manager, and then I would hire back to work mums so they can train how to work in a cafe or retail if they need training, and to have something recent on their resume to make it easier to find work in their chosen field.
Travel, cleaners, and homeless and abused people, not necessarily in that order.
Travel to lots and lots of different places and take my friends with me if they wanted to go.
I'd literally just buy a big house in the countryside, preferably surrounded by a forest with access to a river/stream/Loch. Spend a few years just travelling and bring back loads of cool furniture, interesting antiques and artwork from my world travels. Start a family and just live a simple life in my beautiful home surrounded by people and things I love while holidaying multiple times each year. I'd give my 4 sisters and my parents enough money to set them up for life too.
First, clear my wife and I of all debts. Second, ensure that my children never want for anything again (reasonably; needs v. wants would still be separated). Then work to improve my city. Japan as a whole is behind, but c'mon... this city isn't able to provide assistance that my wife's more country city was able to provide for families in need.
I'd just start with Skeet shooting every alarm clock in the house.
