In 2006, a momma cat who lived on the corner gave birth, twice a year, and brought her 5 week old kittens to us. This past summer and fall, we had 3 die (ages 17, 15 and 14). We have a 15 year old left.

That's exactly how I ended up with my first cat family. The mother was feral that I fed, and after she gave birth I used to ask her when do I get to see her kittydids. One day, she's outside in front of my screened patio,, meowing, and I look to see her carrying one in her mouth. I go out and take the kitty in, mom disappears for a minutes, and drops another one off. I bring it inside, and she repeats the process until I have five kitties inside. And that's how I ended up with all of them for the rest of their lives. Smartest momma is cat ever. She knew I would take care of them and obviously I did!
Oh thank god they didn’t knock on my door or we would have our kitties in plus the new family ! Who could say no to that much cute ????

There's a neighbor stray kitty that has some nasty matted hair (it's not even a long haired cat). She's always licking the air in such a way that looks like she has hair in her throat & can't get it out (I don't know what that's about). I think she's getting plenty of food since we have three neighbors who leave food out all the time (the neighborhood has lots of cats, opossums & raccoons because of this). I would love to bathe her a release her back into the neighborhood but I'm wondering, firstly; why she can't manage to keep herself clean. Secondly, if I should be concerned about cooties by bringing her into my house & lastly, if she'd even handle a bath w/out scratching me into oblivion. Any advice?
