Renewable is definitely improving! It's wonderful. The truth is that nuclear power is one of the most expensive forms of power. It costs a lot to get uranium usable. Uranium is also not a renewable product and nuclear's plutonium by-products take thousands of years to become safe.

It’s rich people trying to stay rich, regardless of the consequences for the planet and its population. They’re all heavily invested in coal and oil and the other soon to be extinct energy industries, so they’re running scared just like the carriage makers and stable owners back when the automobile was invented. The smart ones retooled their factories to produce car parts, or converted their stables to parking lots or repair shops. So too the smarter dinosaur energy companies that phase out the old ways and convert to new green energy production will survive. Those that don’t will perish.

Ever heard anything of efficient energy storage? Nope. That's the thing. Wind blows, when it wants, the clouds are covering the sun etc. We need more power for the winter, when the energy output is low. In the summer we have excess of production, but won't consume it all. How could we store it for the winter? Also, one MW of wind power still needs 4MW of compensation power somewhere in a hydroelectric (you wish!) or rather in a coal power plant. How could the renewable energy system maintain itself? Those are the important questions to resolve. Anything else here is just mumbo-jumbo.

You get all these people saying, 'but you need bright sunshine to make solar energy work!' Not anymore, they now work on overcast days as well. 'But what happens at night?' Well, there's this amazing invention called BATTERIES that I think you should know about.

And what happens when "green energy" subsidies end?

Well higher cost will come, if everybody switches to renewables but you still need power after dark that still needs to come from somewhere, and it's not fair to expect power plants to shoulder that burden

Im Australian and we have solar......in response to so many Western Australian's taking up solar as our preferred form of power production, one that we control ourselves with solar panels that WE pay to install and despite returning large amounts of power to the grid through the excess power we produce during the day, you would think the government would be THANKING us.....instead they allowed the power company to increase charges to us.....because apparently we werent contributing enough to the cost of maintaining the grid which carries their dirty coal generated power......its like the ultimate kick in the teeth for doing the right thing for the planet. Next step for my household is storage batteries so that WE use our own extra green power, stuff the grid. As much as I like being able to provide my neighbors with clean energy the fact that the power company is making a profit off of MY work and money disgusts me. They give me a whole 8c per kwh, my neighbors and I pay 22c+.....

uneducated. thorium is a clean and save way to generate power.

Im reading that Nuclear Power could be a future for renewable power because it produces zero carbon emissions compared to the other versions like Wind Power, Solar etc. All they need to do, apparently, is switch fuels from Uranium to something called Thorium that can be used almost as is, it doesn't require enrichment to make it usable which, allegedly is what causes the carbon footprint and makes Nuclear unstable. More study and better technology could pave the way for safe Nuclear Power, without any more weapons. Thorium cant be used to make bombs unlike its more well known counterpart: Uranium.

I'm all for going renewable, but the prices have risen a lot last 10 years (about 40x), but the cost on the enironement is worth a lot more.
