Did you know that only 1-2% of the world has naturally red hair? How about that less than 1% of the world’s population has heterochromia, or two different colored eyes? Did you know that the odds of having identical twins is about 3 in 1,000?

Although there are over 8 billion people on the planet, there are still certain traits we can have that make us unique. So in honor of all of those quirks that make us special, Reddit users have recently been sharing what rare statistics they’re a part of. Enjoy reading through these reminders that we’re all individuals with varied experiences, and be sure to upvote the statistics you can’t believe people are actually part of!

34 People Who Are Part Of A Rare Statistic Share What Makes Them Special On a sour note, I have multiple sclerosis. On a sweet note, I'm one of the rare cases where daily treatments have seemed to almost make my brain lesions disapear in my scans now. They went from very large to barely there, and some have even completely gone away. I'll still always have the condition and will still always need to live life on the low and slow/chill so as not to bring on a relapse, but so far I count myself blessed given how things can be with this disease.

I got a job at my university my freshman year over a girl in my class with premature greying. I’m pretty sure it was the gray/white hair, cuz I overheard the staff talking about it. Colored my approach to REALLY dressing up for interviews from then on. No class, mentor, parents, or anyone could have made me dress up back then. Outer appearances matter, and apparently ppl don’t like graying hair.

I started turning grey in my early teens after a traumatic time at home. By the time I was 22, I was 100% silver. Dyed it for years and then made the fortuitous decision in Dec 2019 that I would never dye it again. Stuck with it through the pandemic and now wear my unusual hair as a survivor’s badge of honour.

I'm 76 and my hair is still brown except for a weird white fountain right at the top. I dye my hair purple, and it is a little extra 💜 work to do that. Wish it would hurry up and turn white, so I can go lavender without bleaching it out completely.

Mine happened a little later - started going grey at 16, nearly completely white by late-30s. And it's hereditary in my family - my Mom started going grey at 16 and so did her Mom. We all have beautiful white hair just I color mine crazy colors all the time. Definitely makes it'd easier to color when you don't have to bleach!

Same. White as white can be. Not a hint of yellow or blond. Happened around 12/13. Also have chromesthesia (a form of synesthesia) and had an eidetic memory as a child, the latter which all people outgrow, leaving some with a phenomenal memory. Side note, neither of eidetic nor photographic memory exists in adults. Most of this has been a hinderance and caused difficulties through my life that I’ve had to manage. Except for having the white hair, which is an awesome canvass for Manic Panic hair colors.

I'm 48 and wishing my hair would go grey. It's a mousy brown or I guess what they call dishwater blonde. I hate it. A few silver pieces have started to pop up. But not enough to be noticeable. I'm ready for grey hair and to not have to color it to hide the hideous brown color it is. My husband is same age as me and is totally grey, almost white. At the rate my hair is going, I've got at least another decade.

34 People Who Are Part Of A Rare Statistic Share What Makes Them Special I basically have no circadian rhythm. It’s called irregular sleep-wake phase and is mostly present in people who are blind or have brain damage. I have the sleep habits of a newborn baby - my life is a series of naps, and I sleep when I sleep and I’m awake when I’m awake and it has no connection to day or night. It also means I’m always tired. I’m also bipolar so the amount of sleep I manage to get in a day is inconsistent.

EDIT: I just remembered another one. I have duck feet that are caused by femoral retroversion (the angle of my femur and hip bones is off, which means my legs are rotated further out than normal), which is a pretty rare cause for duck feet. It also causes very bad flexibility issues in my ankles and hips.

My Dad is allergic to alcohol, found out when he was in the hospital with meningitis. This was back in the '50s, and because his fever was so high, the doctor recommended an alcohol rubdown to try to reduce his temperature. Dad quickly started puffing up and having difficulty breathing, so they immediately washed it off, but the doctor told him if he hadn't already been in a hospital, he might not have made it to one. ( This was long before EpiPens were a thing. )
