35 Times Travelers Were So Stunned By The Place They Visited, They Just Had To Share Pics In This Group
With summer slowly approaching and covid-related restrictions being less strict than in the first stages of the pandemic, many of us are starting about thinking where to spend our next vacation.
A place that helps you to make up your mind is the subreddit r/travel — an online community about exploring the world. Its 6 million members post questions, tips, stories, and just overall good content from everywhere around the globe. But what we're interested in the most are their pictures.
However, since the subreddit is so large, the number of images that appear on it can be a bit too overwhelming to scroll through. So in an effort to save you a little bit of time, we at Bored Panda went through it for you!
You might have to wait to visit some of these destinations for one reason or another, but all of them deserve to be on your bucket list. But the ranking, of course, boils down to personal preference.

Beautiful Ukraine, Road Trip This Summer
We reached out to the people looking after the subreddit, and one of them, Jippiejee, agreed to have a little chat with us about it.
As you can imagine, a community of millions of people requires a fair share of moderation. "We receive a [ton] of spam (not unexpected, of course, since there's a business aspect to the topic of this subreddit: travel agents, hotel booking apps, etc. trying to promote themselves on Reddit), but we employ a lot of automation to proactively avoid these posts becoming visible to our community members," Jippiejee told Bored Panda.
"Our moderators are active participants on the subreddit and living/traveling around the world to give us 24-hour coverage when managing the place. It's generally a very friendly community though, we don't [have] much abuse or other bigotry that contaminate other online communities."

Had To Vacation In My Home Country This Year. I Am Okay With It. Romsdalen, Norway
Norway is a dream for anyone who adores nature and the great outdoors. I would love to do some backpacking there in the future.
Without diving deep into data, Jippiejee thinks that Italy and Greece are the top destinations for the older and honeymoon crowds, generating a lot of questions about itineraries and transportation.
For younger folks and budget backpackers, "South East Asia is still king, closely followed by South America with the typical questions about money ('Will $20 per day be enough for Vietnam?')," the moderator explained.

But if we were to disregard different demographics and take a step back to look at the broader picture, we'd see that in 2017, before the pandemic transformed the tourism industry, France had the biggest number of arrivals (86.9 million), followed by Spain (81.8 million), the US (76.9 million), China (60.7 million), and Italy (58.3 million).
Traditionally, the advanced economies of Europe, the Americas as well as Asia and the Pacific have been the world’s major source markets for international tourism.

However, emerging economies in Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America have shown fast growth over recent years, largely due to the travelers' rising levels of disposable income.
That being said, Europe still remains the world's largest region for outbound tourism, generating almost half of the world's international arrivals.

"The pandemic sent the subreddit into hibernation, with just a handful of posts every day, mostly asking about entry requirements and vaccination documents to travel or return home," Jippiejee added.
"Most of our active users started posting 'memories' of better moments with pictures from previous travels, hoping everything will return to normal soon. [It was] a bit like [an empty city pub] where three drunk guys are reminiscing about the good old days rather than a lively beach bar."

Currently, a small but increasing number of destinations are lifting all of their covid-related travel restrictions, regardless of vaccination status, including some European favorites.
The UK, Ireland, and Hungary all swelled the ranks this month. The Caribbean island Aruba, the Portuguese archipelago Madeira and north-central Asia's Mongolia have also lifted their main covid entry requirements.

Morning Hike On The Island Of Capri
Have been there. It's one of the most beautiful places I have seen. And I have seen a lot, believe me!
Travel and tourism could generate as much as $8.6 trillion globally this year, according to new research by the World Travel & Tourism Council. For context, that's just 6.4% below pre-pandemic levels.
It looks like people have really missed exploring new places. "Old, young, rich, poor, white, black; travel brings us all together," Jippiejee said.

Sunset In Amsterdam! Took This The Night Before The King's Day Chaos Ensued
I have to say I took a trip to Europe. First 3 days in Amsterdam, 10 Days in Paris which I never thought I would like and literally fell in love with it, then a week in Italy and back to Amsterdam for another 3 days and while I lived Paris and since I am half Italian and lived seeing and being in Italy, Amsterdam... HANDS DOWN, was my favorite part of the trip. The History, Architecture, people, culture, Churches, Museums was amazingly stunning. The Waterway and believe it or not, even the Red Light District. And I was there before they made it smaller and more strict. Whole trip was amazing but man Amsterdam was my Love.

Am I the only one who read this as “35 Time Travelers Who Were So Stunned By...”?
Thats what I came here to say- was very confused when i started reading the posts!
Load More Replies...Okay, first things first: who else thought this was about time travelers?
Oh I just commented about this before I saw your comment lol. I thought that too!
Load More Replies...Anyone else just read these lists to make sure there’s somewhere from where you live on them? I’ve yet to be disappointed - I do live in a beautiful country. I’m nit a huge fan of travelling, like the actual getting there bit, but I do want to go visit more places. Although I want to fully explore my own wee country much more before I do
Too bad they still don't build towns and cities so magical. Now, everything is so ugly and sterile.
These places are amazing...but not a lot of people can afford to travel to these exotic places. They can still find beauty in simple things closer to their home...a sunrise, a sunset, a monarch butterfly drinking nectar. They are all there, if we look.
I am so hugely privileged to have been to so many places in the world. Travelling has been all I have wanted to do since I was young, and I've spent decades doing it. The world is so beautiful and most of its people are good, kind, and peaceful, but somehow we have allowed greedy and power hungry magnates and politicians to destroy so much of the world's safety and beauty.
Oops, i put comment on wrong post . Sorry and please disregard, as I can't figure out how to delete
