50 Actors Who “Understood The Assignment” And Showed What Being An Actor Is Truly About
Being a good actor is much more than having the face of a Greek god, an athletic body, and an amazing fashion sense (though having these can’t hurt!). What’s also important for an actor is their range, how they’re able to adapt to new roles and embody wildly different characters.
The folks over on Twitter have been busy praising their favorite actors who definitely “understood the assignment” and wowed their fans in a multitude of different roles. From Leonardo DiCaprio (hi, Leo, we love you!) to my personal favorite Mandalorian, Pedro Pascal, these stars are getting the adoration and attention they deserve. Bored Panda has collected some of the most spot-on tweets, so scroll down to see who Twitter loves best, upvote the tweets that you agree with, and let us know which actor has totally “understood the assignment” better than everyone else in your personal opinion.
I had a chat with celebrity and pop-culture expert Mike Sington, who has worked together with countless actors, about what makes people adore a star (hint: it might not be their acting skills!) and the relationship between experience and adaptability on-screen is. Have a peek down below for Bored Panda's interview with Mike.

Don´t know why somebody downvoted you - so upvote from me. Love the quote. Love Dead Poets Society...
Load More Replies...Helena Bonham Carter
Love, love, love her. She is so quirky and I love that she plays her roles so well. I remember the first movie I ever saw her in and that was Merlin. She is also very stunning.
She would be perfect for playing Johnny Depp if his life is getting filmed
Absolutely! She's one of my favorite actresses, I loved her in Enola Holmes, Harry Potter and Oceans 8!
Yes!! The queen of hearts is my favorite role of hers!! "DID YOU STEAL MY TARTSSSS???"
my favorite role of her it was The King speech. i never saw her in a 'non-psycho' role.
I think that's her problem. She is an excellent actress but completely unable to use her full potential because she rarle gets casted for varied roles. That's actually a nightmare many actors have.
Load More Replies...Her variety of roles proves her abilities! From Fairy Godmother to Mordred to Bellatrix to her latest as Enola Holmes she is just delightful to watch!
Gary Oldman
I read somewhere years ago that the makers of the Lost In Space film cast him as Dr Smith as he was the only person creepy enough for the role.
LOOOOOOVE HIM!!! My favorite actor. He's just so good. How about his portrayal of Mason Verger in "Hannibal"??????
Load More Replies...I never recognize Gary Oldman in his films - he really takes on the role 500% (yes, I know 500% is not a real #)
Hollywood's Ultimate Insider, Mike from LA, told Bored Panda that when it comes to being a beloved actor, a real icon of the silver screen, acting skills alone won't cut it. "Likeability is more important than acting skills. You become a beloved actor if you, as an audience member, wants to hang out with you. No matter how good an actor’s skills are, if they seem like a miserable person, they will never be beloved," the expert said. So it's not just their ususal repertoire of acting skills that stars have to hone; it's their talent with people that counts a whole lot (maybe even more), too.
Tom Hanks
Honestly, I feel like his last few big movies have been The Tom Hanks As Hero show.... Maybe others feel that way, too?
Load More Replies...Wow.... what's a 3-time Academy Award winner doing bunched up with the trash at the bottom of the heap. Tied with Nikki Minaj for acting skills?
He wasn’t on the list when this was first posted.
Load More Replies...Forget The Movies, Tom Hanks is a Decent Human Being. He sees People. A large portion of Celebrities see Fans or Idolizers. Someone with an Ego couldn't portray so many of his Characters. I am just going to give him ...what was it...Atlas?...🤷♀️
Stanley Tucci
You can barely even tell its him from photo to photo. That's someone who falls into a role with no thought to whether people care it's him or not.
Johnny Depp
@Aunt Messy - some of his own exes have come up and defended him. what does that tell you about his character? he's a good man and am*er is obviously the one pulling the strings in their relationship, you can just tell by her body language.
Load More Replies...Johnny Depp is one of the best actors of his generation. He was riveting in every movie I've seen.
I love it when he and Helena Bonham Carter are cast in the same film. They really mesh well.
Load More Replies...Just here to say that I love Depp and Amber Turd can go drown in a sewer.
I'm one of his biggest fans but i feel that after his role in the pirates he plays in the same way... could be directors' guiding but i really miss 90's Johnny... anyway i upvote cause it's Johnny🥰
He literally outshines everyone. I have watched movies simply because "hey!!! JOHNNY DEPP IS IN IT!!"
I get so excited whenever a movie has johnny depp in it!!
Load More Replies...Having worked with so many actors during the length and breadth of his career, Mike has gotten to know them very well. One thing that he's learned is that the ability to act well, in his opinion, is something you're born with. "I firmly believe acting is an innate talent. Actors can of course increase their range with more experience, but some of the finest actors can be completely new on the scene, and often have never even taken any classes," he said.
As for Mike's favorite actor, he couldn't pick just one. "I have two favorite actors of all time: Meryl Streep and Sidney Poitier. I find both their bodies of work breathtaking."
Tim Curry
White: He threatened to kill me in public. Scarlet: Why would he want to kill you in public? Wadsworth: I think she means he threatened in public to kill her 🙄. Gets me every time
Load More Replies...Tim Curry as Doctor Frank made me realise how absolutely attractive men could be dressed like that.
He's the best Satan I've ever watched! His voice was absolutely magnetic!
When I was in high school I met him after a theater production of Amadeus in Washington DC and he was as lovely as you would expect. My shrieking friends and I waited at the stage door until he and Jane Seymour (quite pregnant!) came out to wait for a cab. He talked to each of us, got us to calm down, we told him we saw Rocky Horror every weekend for a year and he realized how thrilled we were. He gave us each a peck on the cheek before he left. Ms. Seymour was quite stunning, her hair went to her waist, and she seemed very tired (and amused by us) as one would expect after a long, physical show. I still have his autograph 40 years later.
I had read that Tim Curry was the original choice to play the Joker in the Batman Animated Series and he did the lines for the first episode, but they felt he was too terrifying for a show that was aimed for kids, so the role went to Mark Hamill. I'd love to see that first episode with Tim Curry as the Joker.
Meryl Streep
Meryl will be forever known as a truly GREAT character actress. Image, voice, stature, one of the greatest..
I know it's sacrilege to not revere Streep, but to me, she never disappears in a role. I'm always conscious it's Streep doing her thing. And her things seems to be Streep doing Streep doing Another Big Oscar Bait Role. You can stone me now.
No stones here, we all have an actor or two we feel that way about even if it seems nobody else is feeling the same! A question, have you tried watching any of her earlier work? I don't really think about whether or not she's disappearing and more about how good the film is (I'm thinking Kramer vs Kramer, Silkwood, Sophie's Choice...)
Load More Replies...Kathy Bates
While some would argue that Keanu Reeves (my fave actor) plays pretty much just himself in every single movie, I’d say that he’s my top pick for somebody who 100% understood the assignment. I love his acting and I secretly hope that so do you, dear Pandas. What did you think of Keanu’s performance in the latest John Wick installment and the new SpongeBob SquarePants movie?
Emma Thompson
First thing I ever saw her in was playing a rich debutant from a rival school in Young Ones. She was drinking a martini on a game show panel and when a question was asked, she buzzed in and says in a snooty upper crust voice "I have a Porche!" The announcer says "Well that's not the answer we were looking for, but we'll accept it anyway."
Heath Ledger
James Mcavoy
He is AMAZING. He should have gotten WAY more recognition for his genius acting in "Split". The way he effortlessly switched between incredibly different personalities was absolutely brilliant...
I loved his performance in Split, his switching from different personalities was excellent.
I loved him in Split, but he was so cute in Penelope. Nobody ever mentions that movie.
During an earlier interview, I spoke with Hollywood’s Ultimate Insider, Mike, about casting and what additional advice he’d give actors. Mike shared his opinion that while raw acting talent is important, so is the “ability to bring the character to life, fulfilling the vision of the director and writer.”
Samuel L. Jackson
One of my favorite actors. He is so badass that when he signed on for Star Wars he asked to pick his own lightsaber color of Purple.
I read somewhere that he did this so he could find himself on the screen when he watched the movie.
Load More Replies...YOU TELL ME WHERE THAT SUIT IS WOMAN! We are talking about the greater good.
Load More Replies...Seriously typecast as an angry badass. Would like to see him in a movie where he has to show some compassion, not just scowling, impatient all the time, cussing someone out, or killing someone. Maybe a role where he is not in control of everything and everyone around him has to deal with life as it really is.
Agreed about the typecast. He has some 'different' roles though if you look hard enough. Not easy with his impressively large filmography, but still...
Load More Replies...You forgot to add "mother#%*&er". No, HE always understood the assignment, mother#%*&er."
I totally appreciate someone who can make every character his own without pulling you out of the fantasy. Harrison Ford used to be great at this. But like Ford used to, Jackson pretty much plays the same character every time.
What ever happened to him after he got caught robbing that McDowell's?
Danny Devito
Chadwick Boseman
Gone too soon, burned bright for the short time he was here on earth. Great actor and all-around good person, visiting sick kids in hospital while battling his own illness.
“In my culture, death is not the end. It's more of a stepping off point. You reach out with both hands and Bast and Sekhmet, they lead you into the green veld where... you can run forever.”
There’s also the indescribable ‘it factor,’ making the character jump off the screen, that casting directors are always on the lookout for. However, when directors look for whom to cast, they also have to take into account how each new addition will fit in with the entire crew.
Viola Davis
The first time I saw her she was a guest on Law and Order. I didn't know who she was but I it was clear that she was a gifted actor.
Brilliant actress. Amazing that she only started acting in her 40's!!
She was amazing in Doubt - a role with limited screen time and she knocked it out of the park
Leonardo Dicaprio
His performance in Gilbert Grape was an absolute highlight, unfortunately he got caught in a teenie-idol phase (with Romeo, Jack in Titanic and the Beach) but he has really grown since Inception, Revenant and Blood Diamond
He gives his all in every performance, heck he sliced his hand open in Jango and kept going without breaking character. He is a top-notch actor.
My first crush! 25 years later, I'm still in awe. Loved him in Gatsby. The scene in the hotel room where he loses his temper is one of the most powerful scenes I've ever seen in my life.
He has definitely gone beyond being the pretty boy roles and become a great actor.
Dunno, his breakout role was in What's Eating Gilbert Grape, and it's easily one of his best performances.
Load More Replies...It's just a shame the academy didn't recognize his talents until that movie with the bear.
Bryan Cranston
I was blown away after watching Breaking Bad and then realizing he played the dad in Malcolm in the Middle.
I'm watching the whole of Malcom In The Middle again, currently on season 2, Hal is fantastic.
“Also taken into consideration are experience and chemistry with other actors auditioning for the project. An actor needs to have an overall pleasant personality too, and seem like they would be easy to work with on the set,” Mike shared. “No matter how good they are, no one wants to hire a ‘difficult’ actor!"
Brendan Fraser
And a magnificent himbo he was... still watch George..
Load More Replies...His range and ability has been criminally ignored. Yes, he *can* scare the bloody bejeebus out of you as an unhinged doctor...
'Gods & Monsters' with Ian McKellen is a fantastic, underrated gem.
Load More Replies...I hate that he didn't get the kind of serious roles that he can actually handle...
Sorry I am not a fan, but I did like him in this movie. I thought his naivete was on point here.
Load More Replies...I wonder whatever happened to him, I thought he was brilliant in The Mummy and gotta love George of the jungle.
Apparently his ex-wife took him to the cleaners during their divorce and he struggled with mental health issues for a while after that. He also had a couple of movies bomb badly, which didn't help restart his career. Poor guy.
Load More Replies...Denzel Washington
I was scrolling down the list wondering when we'd get to Denzel. This man will act the pants off anyone! One of the greatest actors of all time.
Matthew Mcconaughey
Interstellar (pardon me if that wasn’t the movie I’m thinking of) Is one of my favorites
After I first saw it, I had to go watch a lengthy YouTube video that explained the movie.
Load More Replies...What about the Lincoln commercials? I consider those to be some of his best roles
When it comes to established names, getting a role in a movie is fairly easy. Experience counts for a lot in Hollywood. However, newbies have it pretty tough and often don’t have the luxury of choice: they stick with what they’re given.
"Inexperienced actors have very little say or flexibility in negotiating a different role than the one they are being considered for. There are so many actors being considered for any one particular role, if an actor wants to work, it’s best if they are new and don’t have the clout, to just go with what they’re offered gratefully,” Mike said.
Jamie Lee Curtis
Best roll was True Lies!! Especially the dancing scene where she goes to grab the bed post and misses!
Love her! The behind-the-scenes stuff from "Knives Out" is hilarious; I'd love to sit and chat with her over drinks.
Tom Hiddleston
I can't help but see him as Loki. Such an iconic role, and I haven't seen enough of his other work.
I understand that Shakespeare's Henry IV may be a rather daunting place to start, but I would highly recommend watching his performance as Prince Hal (aka Prince Henry of Wales) in the "Hollow Crown", which I believe is still on the BBC. He was also wonderful in the titular role in in the National Theatre Live's production of Coriolanus (more Shakespeare)-- his role as Corionlanus was how he got scouted to audition for the MCU. I think it worked quite swimmingly as he played Loki as a multifaceted villain eventually turned anti-hero. I think he is definitely underrated as does his best work as a character actor.
Load More Replies...actually I've never seen him in any movie but I saw him in a broadcast from Donmar Warehouse in National Theater Live project in Coriolanus and it was magnificent
I wonder what happened to him, his career was on the rise and all of a sudden he disappeared.
He alternates between stage, TV and film. In the last couple of years he's been in the West End and on Broadway. He is a phenomenal stage actor.
Load More Replies...Actually, my favorite Tom Hiddleston "role" isn't even a movie. It's a two-minute clip where he tries to teach Cookie Monster the value of delayed gratification, and how that could make cookies taste better. It's absolutely boss, and melts my heart every time.
Christopher Lee
Christopher Lee lived to be 99 and worked in his beloved career all the way to the end. I believe he won the game of life.
He also recorded several heavy metal albums - after her turned 90. How badass is that?
Load More Replies...Sith, Vampire, Wizard , real life soldier , writer and Rock Star (heavy metal of course ), this guy is pure awesomeness!!!!
Christopher Lee - I am halfway convinced he wasn't human... as in he was just too amazing. His backstory sounds like a tale of fiction - and that's only the stuff he allowed to be public. Maybe part of me is secretly hoping he's immortal and will pop up again in like 20 years.
When he died, the obituary I read mentioned something about a "fallow period", where he was in Star Trek VI, The Undiscovered Country, "as a Klingon, of all things". I LOVED him in it. He was a beautifully deceptive, charming, oily villain, Klingon makeup and all. At the end, when his character and crew are in the big showdown with the Enterprise crew, trying to blow each other up, Plummer starts quoting Shakespeare -- from Marc Antony, as a way to taunt them -- he'd made a big deal of how he studied human history and literature earlier in the film. (I've always felt this was Plummer's idea, since he was a Shakespearean actor, and that this was a sign that he'd had a blast with that role, despite the "fallowness" of it.) The McCoy and Spock character are working on the device that will be the Klingon ship's undoing, and McCoy makes a comment that he'd give real money if Plummer's character would shut up. I'd have given a boatload of money to listen to him go on. He will be missed!
The celebrity expert said that if a fresh new actor wants to try a different role than the one they’re offered, they should start off by voicing their concerns to their agent. That way, they’ll be represented while also avoiding any slip-ups when talking directly with the casting director.
"If an inexperienced actor feels strongly they’d be more suitable for another role, that’s a conversation to have with your agent, who can then possibly approach the casting director depending upon their relationship."
Natalie Portman
She's a good actress, but it always feels like she's holding something back in her preformances. Still love her though :)
I'd upvote her a hundred times. From Leon (the professional in the US) to Black Swan.... Freaking amazing!
Natalie Portman seems to be the ultimate version of "win". Genetic win all around - You can't deny her physical beauty, I'm pretty sure that whole golden-mean thing fits perfectly on her face. She also presents as intelligent, respectful and with a sense of dignity (I can only say 'presents as', since I don't know her personally). Without artificial intervention (cosmetic surgery) and as far as I've seen ... although she has a firm stance on things and speaks out - she doesn't appear to do it to the point of "I say all this just so you can all look at me. Lookit me lookit me lookit me!!!"
Sandra Bullock
I think she will always be one of my favourite actress of all time.
Absolutely outstanding in The Blind Side, which is the movie I really appreciated her talent in.

Loved him in Stardust 'it's alright Cap'n, we always knew you was a whoopsie'
UHm Taxi driver, Good Fellas. I wish I could go back in time and marry a young Robert Deniro
However, no matter how popular you might be, an actor is never rid of that horrible feeling of being rejected… at least sometimes. “An actor has to constantly face rejection, but to be successful, you just have to realize that’s part of the process," Mike told Bored Panda, suggesting that actors “shrug it off” and then move on to the next audition.
Will Smith
Omg why is there so many awesome actors, you don't realize until there on a list together!
MIB will always be the best movies he has been in imho.
Sorry but I don't think so. The roles are always very similar. The good guy who doesn't give up... That's why I don't like to see him so much any more.
So you don't think he understood the assignment because the roles that are written for him have the same theme? How is that reflective on HIS acting ability...which is what "understood the assignment" is all about? That's weird.
Load More Replies...I am legend was so sad... Won't spoil it though. Amazing performance!
Colin Firth
Excuse me a moment, I was attacked by drool ninjas and have so clean up my keyboard.
Anne Hathaway
Remember that weird period of time when everyone enjoyed hating her? I'm glad that stopped, could never understand it myself.
Load More Replies...How in the world is her role as Fantine in Les Miserables not pictured?
Read up on her and ordering eggs. She was being a diva about it
Load More Replies...lol i like how one of her arms connect in both of the left pics. kinda
Love her.. my favorite movie of hers.. The Devil Wears Prada .. incredible cast.. incredible movie
"I always tell actors, much of the audition process is out of your control, and you may never even know why you didn’t get the part. Maybe the casting director passed because you remind them of their cousin they can’t stand. Or the director stepped in and said ‘no’ because they want to work with someone they’re familiar with. It may have absolutely nothing to do with the actor’s talent at all."
Margot Robbie
I must admit that the only movie I have seen her in is Suicide Squad but I loved her in Neighbours and have had a lil girl crush on her since lol. From what I have seen (trailers) though she really immersed herself in her movies and plays her characters so well.
I, Tonya is AMAZING. She and Allison Janney, OMG
Load More Replies...She is an excellent actress and captivating to watch in any role she is in.
My least favorite was Harley Quinn, but dam did I love her in I, Tonya. Give that girl a bells
Tom Hardy
Such an incredible actor, with an amazing range of characters. He breaks your heart in Stuart: A Life Backwards ...
He is versatile. He is brilliant in Bronson & Legend. He gives a solo performance & holds attention in Locke. He even makes the poorly written Venom ok to watch. He brings something different to each role he takes on. I have enjoyed every movie he's been in.
And....he reads bedtime stories on Cbeebies as well, what's not to like?
Winona Ryder
I've been listening to Harry Belafonte as of late and most of it is because of Beetlejuice. They Day-o (Banana Boat) scene is by far one of the best! Catherine O'Hara did it full justice (who, by the way, also IS the assignment... and if she's not on this list, needs to be!)
Load More Replies...SO happy to see her in Stranger Things... and then she totally made that show work. How the HELL did she not win an Emmy for that?
I'm glad she was able to come back so well. She does deserve an Emmy
Load More Replies...She was absolutely brilliant as Joyce Byers in Stranger Things. I still adore her as everyone's favourite Goth, Lydia Deetz, in Beetle juice.
Jim Carrey
Hmm no, was casted because of the assignment. I love Jim Carry, but just like Jack Black = he always plays similar roles. Not that this is a bad thing, but he is being type casted and fulfills this expectation. Although he showed some different acting skills as count Olaf (laughed my ass off). The Mask, Ace and the Grinch are all typical JC characters to me. Not a bad thing, but not reallly meant for this list if you ask me.
What about Man on the moon and the Truman show? He was brilliant in those and probably deserved an Oscar too!
Load More Replies...Those who think he only plays goofy roles haven’t seen Eternal Sunshine or The Number 23
"Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind" and "The Bad Batch" -two places where he didn't paly the commonly assumed commedy role. At least Google: him carrey in Bad Batch. (Didn't like the movie, not due to Him -his screen role was small and most of the time he just kept walking, don't know why they shot it that way)
Sarah Paulson
Nothing wrong about that. She is extremely talented. Luckily some actors accept the daunting task of doing something special that is not mainstream.
Load More Replies...She just intensely irritates me and I don't even know why.... but I guess that's kind of what she was going for...?
I understand what you mean. I think she's a good actress, but she annoys me too.
Load More Replies...Amy Adams
Kathryn Hahn
How is it she's in so many movies but I only just learned her name :(
Load More Replies...Damn, now I have the "Agatha All Along" going around in my head like a hyperactive hamster running on its wheel.
Agatha Harkins from WandaVision, it’s a really great show, I totally recommend it!
Load More Replies...Jessica Lange
She is a great actress but she has a face in all these pictures that say "mess with me and I will burn your house down".
I think she took herself out. I think things got too weird/far fetched.
Load More Replies...Jennifer Lawrence
Nah, she doesn't have the range. In the role of Mystique she got out-acted by Rebecca Romjin who had like 5 lines across three movies.
Brittany Murphy
Absolutely love Love and Other Disasters and Don't Say a Word. She was brilliant in both movies.
Al Pacino
Simply mesmerising in The Godfather trilogy. Even the awful third one. His reaction to his daughter being shot is about as visceral as it gets. Traumatises me every time I see it.
Jake Gyllenhaal
Giancarlo Esposito
He does a good job of making you hate is character.
Load More Replies...Omg yes!! The magic mirror (Sydney Glass)! He played the role so well!
Load More Replies...I am always surprised... at how Giancarlo Esposito plays the most chilling characters - then you see him at a convention, a Q&A panel and he is the smiliest, most congenial, talkative, HAPPY dudes...
This guy is good. There was a short-lived TV show on NBC a few years back called Revolution in which he played a a bad ass government enforcer. He has done good since, but nothing as great as that role.
I watched that, it was a good show. He can be really menacing in his roles
Load More Replies...The proprietor of the esteemed restaurant establishment "Los Pollos Hermanos". He has dedicated his life for customer satisfaction.
Pedro Pascal
Really appreciate that in The Mandalorian he does 98% of it with the helmet on -- and taking it off is actually plot-worthy. Most "actors" would just HAVE to show their face ALL the TIME
He keeps popping up everywhere... and every single time I can't help but think "My gawd, he's good!!!" - was watching The Mentalist - and I was like "Is that...? IT IS... holy geebus"
IDK wut 2 say... I'll say both

Rachel Mcadams
Rachel was never a child actress doomed by Disney, also personality, she seems a lot more stable and she's 8 years Lindsay's senior. So even from the unlikely perspective of Mean Girls causing Lindsay to do what she did, McAdams was a lot more mature at that point.
Load More Replies...I loved all here movies except mean girls because she ain't a mean girl
I love her, definitely one of my favourite actresses. If you haven't please watch About Time with Domhnall Gleeson.
Eddie Murphy
Hmm, not too sure about this one. Whilst I do enjoy a couple of his movies (mainly Shrek), I do find quite a few of his characters quite similar, to the point it is repetitive, boring and annoying (a bit like me hahah)
Agree, he is 50/50 on good acting/movies there are several misses like Pluto Nash, Norbit, A Thousand Words, Vampire in Brooklyn. Even his newest movie Coming 2 America was just ok and not that good. The 4 movies they featured for this post are pure fire and are some of his best, personally my 2 favorites are Trading Places & Coming to America (original).
Load More Replies...A lot of his personality in films is from his early stand up career. Listen to his comedy albums from the 1980's and you will hear every character he has ever been onscreen.
Love his movies, especially Donkey ibn shrek, the golden child, beverly hills cop and recently I watched Dolomite is my name
Watched his old standup the other day. Or at least I tried to. What a d**k.
He was more of a comedian than an actor to begin with. His standup was brilliant. He was brought to acting in the films because of his fame and not of his acting skills, if I’m not mistaken. His earlier films are much more entertaining than those of recent. Quite disappointed by Coming 2 America because I loved the first one.
Taraji P. Henson
really people seriously why are you downvoting this I have seen multiple other people say this and i don't see them get downvoted like come on really

Anya Taylor Joy
Anya Taylor Joy is one of my FAVORITE actresses since even before Queens Gambit!!!
The look on her face when she realized who is in the car with her..so good
Yes! One of my faves and am so glad she’s getting mainstream recognition lately
Henry Cavill
Hey so you all know that he was Sherlock in Enola Holmes. Well, heres what I think about that. The Marvel hiring process goes like this: euther your name is Chris(Evans, Hemsworth, Pratt), or yoir involved in some sort of Sherlock Holmes thing(Robert Downey Jr, Benedict Cumberbatch,James D'Arcy, Ian McKellen, Jude Law, Martin Freeman, Ben Kingsley, Rachel Mcadams) so basically, DC is like, hey, marvel is pretty cool... yo Chris Pine, get over here. And you, superman, go be sherlock holmes.
I LOVE YOU HENRY even though I still don't know how to pronounce Cavill.
Angelina Jolie
I never see the character she plays. I see Angelina Jolie playing a character. She's good, but I'm not a huge fan.
I ....completely agree with this...couldn't put it into words, but you are spot on.

Rowan Atkinson
I miss at least one Blackadder picture - pics in the upper row are too similar to each lther.
Aw yeah! I would have been super mad if I’d reached the bottom and he wasn’t there. Go Mr Bean!
Everyone should watch Black Adder to understand the true genius of Rowan Atkinson.
As a actor he sucks as a comedian he is among the best of our lifetime
Linda Cardellini
Evan Peters
He has played so many different roles! He went from the quicksilver in X-men who’s like the happiest dude on earth to a dead phsychopath and rapist to a cult leader. Tate Langdon especially was a f*cking work of art.
He played a bunch of characters in American Horror Story, quicksilver in X-men, and Ralph in WandaVision.

Load More Replies...It'a all the same character. A character that (I like, don't get me wrong) is always the perfect character. He doesn't really have too much of an arc (which actually makes for an interesting character, but I'm just saying in terms of this list, that he never really changes)
Captain America, The Iceman (because I actually didn't know that was him), Knives Out, and Not Another Teen Movie
this should have more upvotes and some dif characters because hes good in gifted and knives out too...i dont wike it
Amanda Seyfried

Krysten Ritter
i loved her (fleeting)nrole in gilmore girls and she only had maybe 2o lines!
Anne Hathaway
I have read multiple places that she is not a very nice person outside of her roles...which was disappointing and hopefully not true, because I think she is great.
Felicity Jones
Is it just me, or is she pretty boring in Rouge One? TBH I think that was the directors fault (Imagine if Rouge One was just the last part of the movie, and was just one high budget short film)
I loved her in Rogue One. Her character is menat to be resignated and not overflowing with emotions. I found her performance pretty convincing.

I don't dislike him but I can honestly say that I've only like him in the Eurovision film, which was hilarious.
Load More Replies...His penchant for running around in his underwear at some point in every one of his movies is extremely disturbing. If one of his movies is on free TV and there is nothing else to watch, I'm in.
Loved him in Stranger Than Fiction - he demonstrated that he can actually pull off a straight, non-comedic role, and do so convincingly.
Jensen Ackles
Mike Myers
They forgot the Cat in the Hat! why is it all Austin powers! theirs three there movies and 4 pictures! Theirs plenty of room for Shrek too!
It's never been so good as the look on his face when Kanye West announced on live camera that Pres Bush don't like black people. I thought he was going to trip over his jaw.
Jared Padalecki
Ben Barnes
I don’t disagree, but his bottomless hell pit eyes scare me. Especially when he does that cold dead eyes look.
Sarah Michelle Gellar
Diego Luna
Josh Hutcherson
Florence Pugh
The title on this one is wrong. This is Florence Pugh, Yelena Belova is the name of the character she plays in Black Widow
I like Fighting with my Family it was a good movie! (coming from a wrestler)
Hailee Steinfeld
Dylan O'brien
Jurnee Smollett
Misha Collins
Of all the people who played an alternate Lucifer on that show, Misha is the only one who nailed it.
Emma Roberts
Emmy Rossum
Rita Farr
Alycia Debnam Carey
Lindsay Lohan
She is back. Sober and has a beautiful baby and is acting again.

Adam Sandler
He's is overall pretty good act there definitely better tho.
Whitney Houston
Machine Gun Kelly
The stills are from the movie "The Dirt". It's about the rise of Motley Crue. Machine Gun Kelly played drummer Tommy Lee.

Darren Criss
Chloe X Halle
These pictures are all from Grownish, but what else have they been in?
Amanda Bynes
Emma Corrin
This would just be one 'assignment' though as they're all stills from the same role.
Leighton Meester
Nicki Minaj
Selena Gomez
Megan Fox
Beyoncé
Mariah Carey
She did okay in her small role in "Precious." Never saw her in anything else, so I'll withhold judgment.
Haha yess!! cept when it gets blown up over tik tok and that all you hear.

No Alan Rickman? Truly, madly, deeply; Robin Hood, An awfully big adventure, Sense and Sensibility, Galaxy Quest, Dogma, Dust? For shame!!
I don't really get this thread... what, actors who know that they are here to play a character and not to be themselves ?
Same, surely this is just actors who can act. Maybe the OP doesn't understand that actors can be versatile (or understand the role of scriptwriters, directors, costume designers etc etc).
Load More Replies...How in the world did Tom Hanks not make the list? EDIT: Yay, they ended up adding him.
I was thinking the same the whole time while scrolling... and scrolling...
Load More Replies...Don't really understand how Adam Sandler made the list - he always plays himself. And yet no one mentioned Derek Jacobi, whose range is superlative.
I'm not a fan of Adam Sandler either. Sure, some of his movies are funny but like you said, he always just plays himself. He has no business being on the same list as Tom Hanks and Robin Williams, he's not in the same league.
Load More Replies...So many fine actors could be added to this list: Phillip Seymore Hoffman, Patrick Stewart (he did so much more than Star Trek and X Men), Angela Bassett, etc.
Phillip Seymour Hoffman had the most range of any actor I have ever seen.
Load More Replies...Christian Bale. He was a good Batman and awesome in American Psycho. Also not really a Tom Cruise fan, but him also. Then there’s Bruce Willis who actually got me to like action movies somewhat
I was just making the reflexion. Her, Joker, and so on! He's a chameleon!
Load More Replies...Galadriel, and also a great role as a psychic in the US South.... And she got the accent, which is difficult for that part of the US.
