Check out this video. See that guy there he is pretending to be a statue wait for it he is about to move.
The popularity of both projects is proof that comedy resonates with a lot of internet users. The photos are very straightforward: the humor in each situation is instantly recognizable. And that means a lot in a world where the average internet user’s attention span continues to rapidly decline. What also helps keep the message in the pics clear is the utter lack of words or comments in the pics. The images speak for themselves.
"Psst, hey buddy. $20 to take the 'Three-Fifths Clause' out of the Constitution."

Not only that, but photography (especially witty internet pics) transcends cultural and language barriers. No matter what corner of the globe you hail from, you’re probably going to smile or chuckle when you spot someone goofing about releasing their inner derp next to fabulous works of art. The contrast between the silliness of the poser and the seriousness of the statues also adds an extra layer of enjoyment.

Statues play a host of different roles in society. For one, they’re a way for artists to make sense of the world—they express how they feel about certain aspects of life, nature, and society by working with marble, metal, wood, plastic, glass, and other materials. It could also be argued that statues are far more ‘present’ because they occupy large amounts of three-dimensional space. That’s not to say that they’re ‘superior’ to other art forms, only that statues have a more tangible, physical presence.
"Kick ME in the strike zone, wiil ya? How you lovin' it NOW, French Fry?"
Looks like one of the statues was removed. Probably for the purpose of taking those pictures.
I thought the same thing but maybe it was designed that way, look at the bases.
Load More Replies...The girl holding the pants waistband of the boy in front of her . . .
At that age it's OK, and I thought it was clever that the statue kids aren't each holding the next one in the same way, it makes it more true-to-life.
Load More Replies...Kid: "Why the heck mom wants me to pose with these statues? I guess I will know when I grow up." Funny and cute though.
Awww, first of all, such a cute pose idea! Second he is just the cutest baby ever 😍
However, statues aren’t just about expressing the artist’s relationship with the world. They’re a medium for encapsulating the virtues and values that society holds highest. Statues are a way of honoring figures from history, ideals, and even myths. They act as a constant reminder of these ideas.

Australia. Packs are required to have pictures like these and health warnings all over them since about 15 years ago. They're also heavily taxed,.
Load More Replies...Upvote because someone isn’t physically touching or crawling on a statue in this one
What’s wrong with touching a statue? I think they’re built to last? And many of them it’s seen as good luck 🤞
Load More Replies...I love this but I'm distracted by the water bottle in the guy's pocket. They obviously went to some trouble to line him up right for the photo, he could have taken the bottle out of his pocket for a moment.
But as time passes, values change, become outdated, or even pose a danger to current social norms. This creates friction. On the one hand, you have people who believe that society should be aware of its history, including all the elating ups and uncomfortable downs. Denying that history would mean repeating it in the future. On the other hand, some members of society believe that as times change, so should the statues, art, symbols, and icons that are present around us.

I'm impressed by the dedication. The posing, the improvised hood, so good.
The need for clarity and simplicity in internet posts is only bound to increase as time goes on. CNN reports how people’s attention spans have taken a nosedive over the past two decades. “In 2004, we measured the average attention on a screen to be 2½ minutes. Some years later, we found attention spans to be about 75 seconds. Now we find people can only pay attention to one screen for an average of 47 seconds,” Dr. Gloria Mark, from the University of California, Irvine, explains.

At first I thought this picture doesn't belong here 🤣🤣 I thought the cop was real 🤔
"I don't KNOW what happened, officer! One of them tried to pick my pocket; everything went red. The next thing I knew, they were on the pavement! Honest!"
I've seen the pic a few times and I never realized the cop was a statue 🤦♀️
Dr. Mark’s research has shown that people these days spend less than a minute concentrating on one screen at a time. That means that many of us are constantly jumping between different appliances. The issue here isn’t just related to our spare time and entertainment, however. When it comes to work, we’re not much better.
Well they were f*****g everyone else already. Ohhhhh, you meant THAT kind of spit roast. 😳

This is also how you break an expensive piece of art. Please don't climb on or hang from statues or sculptures. They are not built to take that additional load and can and often do break.
Load More Replies...Going a bit to far for this photo. That statue doesn't look sturdy enough to support that man's weight and the talons on that eagle look razor sharp.
I agree. fine line between funny and destroying a sculpture.
Load More Replies...Do. Not. Climb. On. Art. Especially pieces that clearly were not designed to handle it.

Load More Replies...Where is this? I have a female friend on Facebook doing the same thing with this stature. I don't want to ask her...
Load More Replies...So this is why people get spray painted and pretend to be statues.
According to the researcher, it takes us around 25 minutes to refocus on the task that we were doing if we were distracted. “If we look at work in terms of switching projects, as opposed to the micro view of switching screens, we find people spend about 10½ minutes in any work project before being interrupted—internally or by someone else—and then switch to another work project,” Dr. Mark told CNN. We then spend nearly half an hour jumping between various tasks until we get back to the original one.
Your comment made this statue less creepy... why is it naked?
Load More Replies...I like the way the little girl is sitting by the plaque, so she really looks like she's part of the artwork. And she's very cute.
Is this the same statue where that other person was pretending that their papers got knocked all over the place?
yes it is, you can tell by the floor design, the blue tinting on the shoes, and they're in the exact same pose (one is not on it's knees) which makes both pics more impressive, as they have to get the right distance for size and positioning.

Load More Replies...Can we take one moment to notice how some artist literally carved hair and nightgown material into this statue?
Yes, beautifully done, but I don't think it's nightgown, those are the clothes they wore then, especially from reading Sarah Moody's comment here, if it was Pompeii.
Load More Replies...Oh, this statue has a sad story. :( I forget her name, but she was blind and I believe lived in Pompei. When the volcano erupted, and everhthing was going crazy, she was able to navigate the town unlike everyone else. She goes to find the man she loves, who she finds by listening for him. She rescues him and the woman he loves. In the end, he marries the other woman, and of course, the statue lady is heart broken.

Not a statue. This is a New York street performer pretending to be a statue.
Back in the 70's could have been used in a rental car advertisement. Instead of... well you know.
My one time response to hearing that: "Yeah? Then really punish me and let me beat you!"

Ah, yeah! Bleeding Gums Murphy meeting up with Lisa for the first time!!
I think the statue is the Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen, and the little duck on the left in the picture is from his story "The Ugly duckling"
Guy behind the statue should be looking over the other shoulder, where space needed to be filled. The guy with the duck chose the best spot tho lol
So was this statue made solely for the purpose of taking ridiculous pictures?
I'm just going to come right out and state the obvious here. Have ya seen the length of her toes?! Like if she ever lost a finger and a replacement finger transplant was possible, she could be her own donor and recipient.
Yep, those are some freakishly long toes! Wowzers!

Load More Replies...At least some of these people have the decency to not touch the statues! I can understand that some statues are intended to be touched or draped on (those on park benches are good examples), but I wouldn't want to put my face or hands on ANY statue (you never know how many people, with what contagions, touched it before you) unless it's currently or literally just stopped raining hard!
Problem is, to get this height he probably climbed onto and jumped off the statue.

I always feel like statues like those are intended for photos like this. Isn't she exactly doing what the creator wanted?
This one, and some of the others on this list, I agree that they seem to be made with the posing in mind; other ones are really disrespectful (ones that you have to climb a pedestal to pose with); and still others are almost too innocent to not get the snap (little kids with animals or kid statues)
Load More Replies...This is being used exactly as the sculptor intended. And there is a seat up front.
That's a statue of Jack Layton, former leader of the opposition for the NDP (only one to do so) before he passed away from cancer. His widow, Olivia Chow, is now the mayor of Toronto where this statue is at the Ferry Docks. He loved biking and this statue is absolutely being used the way it was intended.
But you'll look sweet, upon the seat, of a bicycle built for two!
I think it's OK to say that, so I corrected that down-vote for you.
Load More Replies...Use protection, everyone's had a ride. (Sorry, couldn't resist such an old chestnut. 😂)

You found it offensive. I found it funny. That's why I am happier than you.
Right? I feel like there needs to be a collective un-clutching of pearls here. Who gives a sh*t? She didn't hurt anyone so who cares what kind of photo she took.

My dad once dislocated my elbow like that when I was a toddler. It's called Nursemaid's Elbow - when a toddler suddenly pulls back or throws themselves on the ground while someone is holding their hand. Load More Replies...Hmm I don‘t know… that photo should not have been made into a statue. The guy was drunk and kissed a random girl on the street. Today this would not be celebrated.
I kinda wonder how the woman in the photo reacted to her image blowing up the way it did.
Load More Replies...Hand over hand down the arm, lower down onto the pedestal, then jump down onto the grass. I’m thinking the person taking the picture gave her a leg up to get on top of the pedestal. They can help her jump down too. Yep, I was a little monkey child who climbed on, up, down, and around everything I could.
Don't let go!!! (Me, who sees a policeman en route with his ticket pad out and already filling in the crime)
