The term has been in use a lot lately, and this is partly due to the fact that, no matter how much worse the pandemic may get, some members of society still act as if not a single thing has changed. The worst of it is that engaging in such behaviors like throwing decadent parties, refusing to wear face coverings, and calling Covid-19 a hoax not dissimilar to 5G puts everyone at risk.

Probably, since I’ve been around 50 people today and you’re the only one who didn’t have a mask on!'” He added that he enjoys being passive-aggressive, which is not exactly the same as plain old aggressive.

Does anyone remember the story of the old woman who was sick and a doctor said to see him and he would help but she said "no, I have God and prayer..." and she got worse and a second doc said he could help, but "no, I have God and prayer." People need to get that this is not about them, it is not about any single incident ... of course, if I go to the store without a mask, each one time in itself will have a low likelihood of me catching the virus. But I have to go to the grocery store about once a week, so this adds up. There are about 500000 people living in a radius of 20 miles around me, and in every household, one does about the same every week ... the low likelihood certainly will lead to some infections, it just isn't every other week for everyone, only for some. Damned, everybody knows how to avoid contact, everybody could know it works, and the masks are just a little uncomfortable, something everybody can endure... Not that hard. Even though I did not have a fever, my doctor told me I could have had COVID-19 because it is estimated up to 40% of people who have had it did not have symptoms, and that most of us have probably been exposed at some time. BUT wearing the mask is like wearing a condom-it protects both people.
This makes my blood boil. Due to being medically extremely vulnerable I haven't left the house other than for hospital appointments, treatments and scans since March. I have not been in the same room as my partner for 10 months as he works in hospitals with covid patients. I've had to go through my treatments alone, I've not seen my family and my mental health is suffering.... but despite of all that, I am following the restrictions to the letter. I hate to think of all the people who are out of work and all the businesses that have closed. I think prolonged shutdowns will have a much more detrimental effect on society and individuals. Considering there is evidence that only those with other health issues before they got the virus are at risk from dying, shouldn't we be evaluating and identifying risk groups vs. those who are least likely to be killed? We could be letting least-risk people go back to work and school with masks, social modifications, and cleaning regimes instead of putting so many people into financial ruin, thinking that unemployment or the dole will keep them from becoming homeless and hungry.

New Zealand and Australia did nail it, but in New Zealand’s case, at least, we did see that the Asian countries were the ones to look to. We knew we couldn’t rely on the US and UK. :(

People need to get that this is not about them, it is not about any single incident ... of course, if I go to the store without a mask, each one time in itself will have a low likelihood of me catching the virus. But I have to go to the grocery store about once a week, so this adds up. There are about 500000 people living in a radius of 20 miles around me, and in every household, one does about the same every week ... the low likelihood certainly will lead to some infections, it just isn't every other week for everyone, only for some. Damned, everybody knows how to avoid contact, everybody could know it works, and the masks are just a little uncomfortable, something everybody can endure... Not that hard. Not that much that is aksed. A little compassion and reason - so little I always have thought everyone has it - is all it takes. Antimaskers are assholes.

Load More Replies... Here's the really scary thing, I had a cold over Christmas, and had an appointment for my yearly physical at the first of this year. Even though I did not have a fever, my doctor told me I could have had COVID-19 because it is estimated up to 40% of people who have had it did not have symptoms, and that most of us have probably been exposed at some time. BUT wearing the mask is like wearing a condom-it protects both people.
This makes my blood boil. Due to being medically extremely vulnerable I haven't left the house other than for hospital appointments, treatments and scans since March. I have not been in the same room as my partner for 10 months as he works in hospitals with covid patients. I've had to go through my treatments alone, I've not seen my family and my mental health is suffering.... but despite of all that, I am following the restrictions to the letter. I'd give anything for a hug but that's not possible right now. There are so many selfish, arrogant people out there. They think they are smart yet they are so very stupid. Anyone who refuses the vaccine claiming

As a Christian, the nonsense other Christians come up with to deny that the virus is a thing, or being all "brave" because God will protect them (um, maybe He has provided Really Smart People called Scientists who have figured out and given us the means to protect humankind through wearing a mask and social distancing?) just makes me sick, and I think it makes Him weep.

god, this is so easy and so many people are too selfish to even comprehend. here's the deal, idiots: if EVERYONE wore a mask everywhere they were around other people, apart from their own homes, for an entire month, we would be out of this already. if you wear a mask, you cannot spread OR get cooties. if other people are wearing masks, they cannot spread OR get cooties. in your home, if everyone has been wearing a mask the whole time they're out, it's fine to not wear one, because no one should have any cooties (because they've been wearing a mask). everyone needs to get over themselves and just wear. the. goddamn. mask. not going out unless absolutely necessary further reduces the chance that you will get or spread germs while out. don't believe in covid? wear the mask anyway, for giggles. it doesn't hurt you. if my mom gets covid, she WILL die.
