29 Embarrassing Moments People Didn’t Realize Who They’re Talking To And Made A Fool Out Of Themselves
If you're going to criticize somebody or call someone out on something, it's probably best that you know who you’re talking to. Because as you can see from this hilariously cringeworthy list compiled by Bored Panda, all sorts of awkwardness can ensue when you don't do your research first. From a know-it-all correcting J.K. Rowling about the reason behind Severus Snape's demise, to a clueless smartass who asked the Prime Minister of Malta who his sources were when he tweeted about a potential hijack situation, the examples below serve as an important reminder that if you aren't sure who you’re talking to then maybe keep your opinions to yourself. Don't forget to vote for your favorite!

Twitter User Tells Woman With PHD In Astrophysics That She Needs To Learn Some Science
People like Gary P Jackson likely believe that you can graduate in Creationism.
I am a Christian, but I most definitely believe in global warming...please don't generalize.

I just noticed her gd handle has "astro" in it. Gary's brain, "Astro...hsh. Pffft women, especially thoae that clearly love astrology. So wrong all the time. I'll just hit reply and explain how she's wrong. She'll listen to my penis and we'll all be better for it."
That Is Amazing
You know what? The absolute dimness of people DOES genuinely baffle me more and more everyday

Oh, golly. Maajid Nawaz is amazing! What a life... I really hope a book comes from this set of experiences.
Ooops.... some after sun lotion might help ? Or better go for some Flammazine....
Except that Nawaz's claims have been denied by his own family and others close to him. He made a fortune from the UK government before being discredited and moving to the US where there was still more lucre in the Islamophobia industry.

Whaow... trying to act as an ultimate Star Wars fanboy without recognizing Natalie Portman... interesting how some people are able to destroy their credibility without any external help...
To be fair she was not in any of the _real_ Star Wars movies! :)
Load More Replies...Although the Star Wars Episodes she acted in should probably never have been shot, this comment still is slightly embarassing.
Don't know why the downvotes! The prequels are horrific in comparison to the classics and the latest one... Great to watch if you're in need of a drinking game XD

Truth be told Natalie Portman has said herself she's not into star wars that much, or at least she wasn't at the time she acted in them, it's actually pretty amazing that she was able to perform so good imo....also I really liked the prequels a lot, different feel than the originals but still great in many other ways!!........you can shower me with hate now please :P
Doesn't mean she saw them. Most Actors/Actresses do not watch their own movies.
What gets me is that people think they have the right to say what people can wear....
Mansplaining
This is too funny. People need to check stuff like author before trying to sound intelligent lol
I've got the exact opposite and yet embarrassing situation. One guy told me I was wrong about something and led me to another comment as "proof". The comment was written by him, still without any sources. Nice proof...
Load More Replies...I hate the term "Mansplaining". Women can do this too, and that's just as bad. Don't label something with a gender - that's sexist and that's what we're trying to fight, remember?
Maybe he was trying to tell you something - i.e., that you were contradicting something you'd been right about before with what you were saying now.
Well, wasn't the article complete bollocks then? He was using it to contradict her, right? ;P
Harry Potter Fan Reveals Snape's True Motivation To... JK Rowling
I bet ms.Rowling was amused and found it interesting to see another way of perceiving the actions of the characters she wrote. Or at least, I'd be if it happened to me.
Yes, just because she wrote the book doesn't mean she can't discuss it with others.
Load More Replies...He "dies" to clear his conscience? Thats stupid. Maybe he gives Harry the memory to clear his conscience, but he doesnt die for that reason.
That statement would only make sense if he killed himself but he does not do that!
Load More Replies...Well, I just have to say I'm not against questioning authors' explanations every now and then. Talking about your creation is a bit like talking about yourself - you're not omniscient just because it's you and in fact, sometimes outsiders know better. Though of course, it's always safeer to use different kind of language than HPFans did :P
I see it a little differently. Once you finished writing a book and give it to the public it is open to public debate. Don't get me wrong, it's still your book and your story. But I think in fiction there are no absolutes, so some points are certainly open to discussion. Post is still funny though.
Even if she wrote them once they are out there, they are like living people and every action a person does is interpreted by the reader's personality and experience. Whats sincere for you may be a joke for me. That's the beauty of books.
You know she’s a homophobic b***h who makes a habit of retconning everything she ever wrote.
Every comment saying how he is entitled to his own opinion, that we are all allowed to disagree, to interpret the material differently...sure. I agree. Except his statement, or at least the wording, is saying the opposite of all that. That she is wrong about her xreation, and his opinion is fact.
I have a problem with this one. It is true, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." You cannot tell anyone how to view art, whether it is a painting or written or spoken word. I do not think any artist should tell anyone what the "answer" is or what it "means." That is the best part about books, films, statues and music, or any other work of art is we have our own interpretations and form our own opinions. That is why it is called art.
What's Tony Hawk Up To These Days?
Right, how many actually would recognize celebrities out of character?
Load More Replies...He should be absolutely flattered by this. Not only did the TSA agent know who Tony Hawk was (I've never heard of him...), but she also assumed he was too cool to be standing right in front of her.
I've done that before in line at the airport! My girlfriend and I seen a couple guys with shitloads of those big music cases and asked Weather they where a band or what, curious to know if I'd herd of them in which he explained he was cosantino the illusionist, he laughed and was quiet chuffed to be able to have a conversation with someone that wasn't me asking him about magic and found out he's a really nice dude!
That's more amusing than embarrassing. In fact, I don't find it embarrassing at all.

Patronizing Programmer Gets Told
Programming is like religion. Everybody has their preferences. So she's not into Java, and this dude is... It's like making a priest and an imam discuss if christianity or islam is the right way to go.
No, he's being a patronizing a*s assuming she doesn't know anything. He wouldn't offer such a comment to a guy. Anyone who has programmed for any amount of time knows that knowing a language well does not stop you from becoming frustrated with it's idiosyncrasies. If anything they become more painful since most veteran programmers know several languages inside and out. For example, PHP's lack of indented structure reliance on the older braces everywhere approach bothers me, especially if I've been working in Python, yaml or jade all day; yet there are tasks that can be done in a few lines of PHP that would take a few dozen to over a hundred in Python. Java is no different - even when you understand it package management is a pain in the a*s at times.
Load More Replies...I use java professionally for 4 years and it still sucks. Its a dull language, overly verbose and obsolete. painful to read due to all the getThis setThat and the countless parenthesis and braces. Java just didn't keep up.
And his condescending winky face at the end. This is why we can't have nice things.
I love how he assumes that because she's frustrated with java she doesn't "know" java. What an idiot.
Doesn't know enough to click on the pic and find out who he's talking to!
no, it was a sexist and condescending comment, which she handled perfectly.

That's actually such a huge rekt. But then again, I don't think he understands any of these jobs names.
Trashy girls never get far in life? melania made first lady lol , upulie probably has a higher iq than trump and his advisors combined...... all fail emperor spraytan the turd and his evil toupee, or is it ear hair combed over....
being a nanotechnologist, doctor, engineer, etc, doesn`t makes a person a good person. If someone writes or speaks in a trashy way, becomes a trashy person. Its titles won`t take the trashyness away. Most people defend themselves behind their titles or job positions, but guess what...core values are more important than titles or job positions, or even money.
and no better example than trump, king trashy ;)
Load More Replies...Ok, the thing is: I don't like Donald either, but simply insulting him and calling him fuckface is beneath anybody who has an education.

Farmer Asked If He's Ever Worked On A Farm
Is Jersey cow giving chocolate milk reminds me of my really really stupid ex he asked me "does chocolate milk come from those genetically engineered brown cows" I couldn't believe what I was hearing
Hahahahahaha what a loser... it comes from fairies.
Load More Replies...I think both don’t get the point: what kind of an environment creates circumstances under which a sow would crush her piglets when lying down? If you have ever seen free range pigs with babies, you'd understand that this is something extremely unlikely to happen if sows and piglets have enough space to navigate around each other. Only in the most restricted spaces something like this can happen so often that you need an expensive (and very cruel) appliance to prevent it. Also, I find it a rather unworthy argumentation strategy to discredit your opponent instead of finding sound arguments.
Not every farm that raises pigs has the land, money or capability to make all pigs free range. Also, just being free ranged does not mean it removes any chance of crushing and killing their own babies.
Load More Replies...Just because he did not leave pigs for months doesn't mean all farmers are like him. C'mon people neglect even own children, of course there are cases and I bet numerous where farmers severly neglect animals. I know that because my uncle did that with his animals.
Both people are right, we had a family farm and we used those to keep the mothers from rolling over on the babies. But many factory farms keep them locked in pins too small to move in. Both things happen.
That's exactly what I was thinking. I don't have experience in the industry, but I know that even if THIS is innocuous, there's still a lot of cruelty in the still popular factory farms.
Load More Replies...That doesn't make it okay. The pig is there against its will and will die unnaturally. No excuses for the treatment of livestock. Farmer should go live like that pig and then get back to us.
Clearly you've never raised pigs before, or probably any livestock for that matter. EVERY pig is kept against its will. You think they want to be raised and slaughtered by humans? No. That's how it is though. Never gonna change. And no, it will not die in there, it will be in there just long enough to nurse the piglets. When I raised pigs we just kept the sow in a small contained area with the piglets in a small pen next to her so they could nurse through the fence without having to worry about her smashing any of them (It DOES happen). And replacing what you think is cruelty to animals with cruelty to humans doesn't do your comment any justice, it makes you sound like an ignorant city slicker.
Load More Replies...I have idiots try and tell me how to farm too, when they can tell me how to survive over 7 years off 1 acre of land they can get back with me.
Pigs and dogs have been known to kill and eat their own offspring. Pigs will eat the prolapsed intestine of another pig while it's alive.
Now seriously : go visit a pig farm and tell me they have a good life.... farmer or not.
Actually I grew up on a farm with my pig Wilbur and his friend Charlotte and was well liked. Many people said he was Some Pig.

Well, at least Stevie tried... but he did end up making an 8yr old's comeback
Well, his buddy's motto seems to never admit you're wrong or that you lose an argument, so, he follow his leader.
I actually legitimately WOULD NOT consider the head of special branch in Belfast to be an expert on terrorism, nor on how to deal with it. Their approach in UK, Ireland, and the eu has been absolutely pathetic, disgraceful to the point of enabling and driving terrorist recruitment far more than any "blanket approach" ever could. Do something about the rape gangs in Rotherham, Leeds, London, Birmingham, and the rampant immigration and radicalization problems across the once-great seat of the fallen British Empire, then get back to me Jim you do-nothing useless "head of special branch." Like maybe enact a Trump-style muslim ban. Blanket approaches work - just ask Poland and Russia.
Well, that is not only blatantly ignorant, but blatantly racist. Thank you for showing the world why Britain First exists, and why they must be fought every time they rear their ugly heads. For people that do not know, a Britain First (an immigrant hating far right group) supporter killed a politician, Jo C*x, just before the EU referendum last year. The killer believed the same right-wing tabloid BS that Jonathan Parkin does. If GCHQ sees this, I hope they look at Jonathan Parkin's circle of friends and make a proper investigation into whether he, or any of his friends, could be a future terrorist threath.

I actually really liked Lights Out. The problems weren't in the backstory, so much that the main characters seemed less important than the side characters, as far as major plot events. I really loved it. Then again, I care more about plot than terror.
When People Ask World Record Holder To Take A Picture Of Them
Hah, that would be me. I have 0 interest in sports and wouldn't even know what it is she does! :')
Since not everyone is into sports and nobody in the comments has posted who she is yet: Kathleen Genevieve "Katie" Ledecky is an American competitive swimmer. She is a five-time Olympic gold medalist and nine-time world champion. She is the current world-record holder in the women's 400-, 800-, and 1,500-meter freestyle (long course). She also holds the fastest-ever times in the women's 500-, 1000-, and 1,650-yard freestyle events.
Thank you! It was giving me a brain itch, lol - but too stubborn to Google it.
Load More Replies...I mean that's cool but the moment wasn't about name dropping. She's still just a human and doesn't have to be in the picture to do a nice thing and take it for them.
Same here. I never had any f*****g clue who that was, until I looked her up on Yahoo after reading this.
What's so special about this? As if everyone in the world has to think you are SO important lol. Seriously get of your high horse. Also the people helping them on it. I'm not entirely sure why we're supposed to know or look up every person we come across online, or we're idiots? The person who just expects you to know they're an expert in whatever the topic is, is just as big an a*****e as the guy who thinks he's an expert and isn't. What happened to expecting sources, credentials, and proof? Or at least verifying your own damn credentials!
