It also looks like they could've used real sheep's wool. I "inherited" a pure sheep's wool duster from New Zealand and the wool looks/behaves just like the wool in the photo. Even the slightly off-white colour matches mine. So if this is the case, that makes us wreathe even cooler in my opinion!!!

Just to say, I understand some people might not lie the idea of a real sheep's wool duster, but it's been in the family for years, and came from a small family run business in NZ who run a little farm and use the wool to make items they sell. So no sheep were harmed in the making of my duster!!!

At the end of the day, we have to enjoy the creative process itself, not just the end result. Sure, a lot of people dream about being novelists of world renown, celebrated architects, and artists who start a new movement. However, all of those paths require huge amounts of emotional investment, time, effort, and dedication.

If you fundamentally do not like writing, designing, or painting, you won’t be able to keep up these activities for long enough to get good at them. The upside is that there’s a very wide range of creative hobbies and pursuits to choose from. Creating music, taking up embroidery, dancing your heart out, or becoming the world’s best chef might be up your alley instead.
Or it might be something extremely niche or even unheard of. It’s up to us to figure out what we enjoy, what we’re good at, and what we don’t mind suffering for, and then showcase those talents.

If you’re completely new to an artistic hobby, you’re in for a fun, albeit challenging time. There’s going to be a lot of frustration, self-questioning, and mistakes down the line. So before you even start, you need to be in the right mindset. Accept that you will make errors (and lots of them!).
However, that’s part of the learning process. We cannot get better if we don’t mess up over and over again, and then learn from those same mistakes.

Live Life In Full Colour!
The type of habit you want to form is going to heavily affect how long it’ll take for the behavior to be automatic. Going on a new diet, brushing your teeth more often, starting a new exercise regimen, or drinking just one extra glass of water each day is going to take very different amounts of time.
Not to mention that the effort required is going to vary from habit to habit, and getting in the groove of learning one new skill daily to another. Apply that same thinking to different artistic pursuits.

These and those portraits people make by using tiny little photographs: I don’t understand how peoples’ minds work. I’ve attempted to visualize making these, and I simply can’t. My brain doesn’t bend in those ways. I don’t understand it. Makes me wonder what else they can do that I can’t. They’re incredible. The girl with the earring is instantly recognizable. I can’t even begin to think where to start after I make a face shape of peach-colored thread. My cow, they’re amazing!

There are tons of resources all over the internet that can help you learn those new skills. You can also apply for online or in-person courses, or ask professionals whom you respect in the field for advice. Most creatives are very friendly and happy to pass on at least some of their wisdom (so long as you ask politely). It’s also a great feeling when you can mentor someone who’s new to the field.
Theory, however, is far easier than practice. It’s best to start painting, crocheting, and doing stuff with resin ASAP! We learn best by doing things, not just hyping ourselves up with online tutorials and motivational articles.

Likely using sun-reactive fabric. I made a silk scarf like this once, using fern leaves from my garden. You can purchase kits online. It's very easy to do, and loads of fun! Maybe try a search for solar print or UV print.

Fully agreed - if you're a maker, you'll have the highest aspirations for your work, and it will be good exactly because you endlessly want to make it better. You will believe you see 'faults' but your viewers will see only your successes - listen to their words, do not fear their criticism. Better one art-piece that you feel you could improve on, than one put away or even destroyed because it's not perfect, in your eyes. Allow yourself the occasional imperfection.

I read it as a friend you adopted as a sister, not a sibling adopted by your parents. When I hear adults say adopted sister that is usually what they mean.

My parents adopted my sister's also, growing up we never used that word. When our mother passed the word (adopted), and (step) for our dad, were listed as "BONUS" did my sister grew to know there biological family and we wanted to honor everyone.

To all those questioning why she added the word ‘adopted’ …Maybe the sister was just adopted and she wanted to celebrate THAT with her gift - thus made the distinction.
