To prove the power of a loving home, proud owners from all over the world are sharing photos of their family dogs before and after they were rescued. For some reason it always bothers me when people have their dogs ears clipped. I know it's akin to having you ears pierced, but I still find it so cruel. Otherwise - what a proud boy in the second pic! I love me a good pit! :D

I agree that it is cruel, unnecessary and natural ears look far better.

I hate what people do to their ears! It is very painful and often done with crude instruments such as knives or scissors, and without anesthesia. Many do this to pitties to make them look "more mean." It makes me cringe! I'm glad that this boy found his forever home!

This first picture made me cry. He is so sad and my heart just aches for him. He looks like he could melt into the wall. The second picture is just a masterpiece. He is so proud and happy. I bet he is being treated like a king. Thank you for rescuing him. I appreciate you sharing.

The second is as though he has his self-esteem, ego, and pride back. It's like Lion King on Pride Rock. The first one is tears inducing.

Even after 25-years doing dog rescue, I'll never get used to the sight of a dog starved near death. How could someone do that and look at the poor dog daily? Where is the humanity?

The ears look so diff because malnourished and starving dogs bodies start to break down cartilage to feed on. So the ears look so diff due to this. And he's filthy in the before pic. Look closely though same exact markings. This Doggo is one lucky monkey now :))

It's amazing how good dogs are at trusting again after they've been abused. They forget about the scars, put aside the timidness and throw themselves heart, soul and body into thier new life with thier new people who have so far proven to be loving. Meanwhile there are scores of humans isolating themselves and living partial lives because the idea of trusting again is too scary. Dogs have an aweful lot to teach us with thier enormous and open hearts and thier willingness to take a chance and put aside those old scars. I wish I had half the bravery, heart and Joie de Vivre of this beautiful dog!!

OMG, it looks like that eye has exploded :'( that poor baby!! Poor dog looks so much better in the second obviously, but this is the first one that appear to have been irrevocably damaged by its former life. This just makes me so damn cross. There's no need for any of this!! In any civilised country there are shelters, vets, wardens who will take in injured and unwanted dogs. Even if they say you have to wait/pay and you can't for whatever reason there are ways to get your dog to a safe place where it'll be noticed or call it in yourself and watch out for someone to come rescue it. It's not rocket science!! To take an animal that has only ever lived in a house and had food provided in a bowl and dump it is the equivalent of dumping your 10 year old 100 miles from civilization and going "ah well, if he makes it he makes it"... I'm just so mad right now!!!

My mother and I found a dog similar to this dog. It looked as though he had 8 legs. Once the groomer was finished shaving him, he was normal, and had a long happy life with our family.

"Minor skin condition?" There is NEVER a good reason to put a dog down, unless he/she is dying, and in pain. It's a hard decision to make.

This happens too often. The neglected dogs develop skin infections, and people who don't know anything, will put them down when 99.9% of skin infections, like mange, can be cured. Thank you for being smart, treating his condition, and saving her life. What a sweet face!

They do know. I rescued one last summer from our shelter, and she had given up hope of being saved. It was not until we led her into the adopter's back yard that she realized she was free. She did a freedom race, all over the backyard, running in circles and smiling the whole time.

All these pictures remind me of the cruel adds the ASPCA has :( but I'm so glad the digs are getting adopted! They have such pretty smiles! :)) and I can't go through this post without a dry eye! (Aka not crying!)

You shouldn’t be able to adopt if you are going to bring them back, but I guess that is better then having them abandoned.

Maybe, it is cruel to the animal but one time I had a cat who hated my family and her life so we gave her to a no kill shelter.

My husband and I just adopted a doggo that was brought back to the shelter 3 times too. No one understood her breed (Heeler) so they gave her back when she would try to herd children. It was just her nature.

When I volunteered at an SPCA, people would return dogs that couldn't be trained. Sometimes it's not the dog's fault they can't be "trained." With firm but kind guidance, almost any dog can become a great household family member! But it takes time and patience. Many don't have the time nor the patience to train a dog properly; and it is better than just abandoning them.

Spike and Rocky. About 1 year old in this pic. That was 15 years ago and they just got a 2 year old Bully brother. They've shown him who's boss. He's shown them how to romp and play again. 2022413-2-...77858f.jpg 2022413-2-5ca986177858f.jpg
