Last year the US government collected $5 trillion in tax revenue, while having a spending budget of $6.8 trillion. Medicare $1.1 trillion, Medicaid $926 billion, Social Security $1.6 trillion ($250 billion deficit due to the combination of people living and collecting longer much longer, while the age people start paying into SS has risen by nearly 6 years) Welfare $1.1 trillion. Military industrial complex, which directly employs 3 million odd active service duty and millions more contractors, always taking more soldiers that aren't needed, building weapons that aren't wanted to keep those millions of people gainfully employed. Farm subsidies, VA benefits, Unemployment insurance, disability insurance, Pell grants, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac.....and then yes, there are corporate bailouts...justified by preventing the loss of tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands or millions of jobs from being lost along with goods and services relied on by huge swaths of the population.

Trick or treat is not a job. Only someone that adds (He/him) to his name can be this stupid. Honestly I only visit this website to check the levels of stupidity in a certain side of American society

That's because we don't even call them "sick days" 🤷‍♀️ We have paid vacation time (usually around 20-25 days). When a doctor writes you a note that says you're off work because you're sick, you just don't go to work - no questions asked. Employer can't deny you those and can't fire you because of this. And yes, those are also paid days. Civilized countries realize that people can't control when they get ill and working through some of the sickness is impossible. And also, that sick people need to have money for a living.

Never heard that and I read somewhere that most vending machines for drinks already so this. From a supply and demand perspective it actually makes some sense. Demand goes up, so price people are willing to pay does too. If the increase were being paid to the workers making the ice cream or bottling the water I would be fine with it, but we all know it isn't.

Once this is done, the company files for bankruptcy, and the private equity firm keeps all the profits. It's corporate piracy, but highly lucrative. And as nursing homes and rural hospitals already have stretched budgets, they are an easy target for these firms. It's also perfectly legal. It's just that the UK, EEA, and Australia have more regulations surrounding hostile takeovers, and how private equity firms can operate.
