Why does being in a good situation entitle people to more rights then, especially when those good situations too often come at the literal expense of others? If my family was given something that was stolen to give to them, if I buy something that was on land stolen to give to the person who first owned it, what "entitles" me to living better? I agree that there are places that should not be used for unhoused people, but the solution is to help those unhoused people, whether that is with housing, medical help, or just making actual places where they can live the way that they need to for a bit. A sign above the bench saying "these benches are for subway riders who need a place to sit, if you need a place to sleep please call # or talk to a transit staff member" and then actually empowering transit employees to give the subway sleepers a reasonable alternative would be worlds more helpful, not so stupidly ableist, and actually preserve the function of the benches.

Brasil is the same, except they collect the taxes from your salary before it reaches you. They also track any financial transactions, so if you don't have a formal job they know how much you should pay anyway, and only tell you the amount after the declaration deadline, so you have to pay a fee, and if overpaid, (or over collected from your salary) you have to calculate the amount to claim it back. People are not missing the point, if in my Latin America country they have enough control your money to this point, I'm sure it's the same in any country.

I like having roads that are drivable, schools (even if they need a hell of a lot of improvement), safety nets like unemployment funding, healthcare, etc... Admittedly, it is absolute b******t how the rich escape paying taxes and how much tax money goes to line politician's pockets, but the answer is not to stop paying taxes, just to demand better use of the funds. Not paying taxes is like expecting your roommates to pay for everything for you.

Geez, people, it was a joke (I think and hope). Don’t want you going to panda jail so take my upvote

Um, no. But for instance here in Sweden, the calculations are done for us and the tax is already deducted from our pay checks. Only business owners (like me) has to pay the taxes themselves - and they’re still told the exact amount. No guessing involved.
