Dunno, photo seems to be more about the splashing of water than the dog, who is nominally the subject.
Is it a German Shepard or a Belgian Malinois Shepard?

It always makes me blush as to how much I am affected by puppies and kittens.
We're biologically hardwired for that response and boy, don't the dogs know it!

So, this dog understood when you quietly, and patiently, explained how he should pose amongst these wet leaves. . .? Good job, both of you. . .!

So, all three dogs, and owner, understood when you explained how they should pose in descending order, with tallest in the back, etc. etc. etc. . . while owner kept their attention with treats off to the left! Job well done, all four of you. . .!
To compete for the Dog Photographer of the Year title, photographers must submit their work to the Dog Photography Awards. Bellot explained that this usually involves entering their best dog-related photographs into the competition, adhering to the submission guidelines and categories set by the awards.
Additionally, Bellot highlighted that the Dog Photography Awards feature multiple categories to cater to various styles and approaches within dog photography, such as action shots, portraiture, studio portraits, documentary photography, and dogs and people moments. "The competition is open to photographers worldwide, both amateur and professional, providing a platform for a diverse range of creative expressions," she said. The awards not only highlight individual talent but also contribute to the appreciation and awareness of dogs' role in human lives.

Oh my gosh! I didn’t know puppies could be that small! And so cute!
That my friends is a baby chihuahua :) I've been raising them for 15 years. Best breed in my opinion, solid dogs health wise and easy to care for because of their small size.

If I was trapped in the snow, this is exactly the sort of rescuer I'd like to see 😊😍
I love imagining the rescue dog's point of view. It trains and trains on pretend victims who, at best, provide the standard positive reinforcement. Then it finds a real victim in the snow. Instead of the positive reinforcement, which already makes it pretty happy, it receives the most sincere gratitude and happiness to see it that it has ever received in its entire life. Imagine expecting a slice of cake and receiving instead a giant gourmet cake plus a new best friend who thinks you are the absolute best. I bet that a rescue dog's first rescue makes it realize that everything before was practice for THIS.

Herbst is the German word for Autumn - the photographers appear to be German or perhaps the "und" is a nod to dachshunds who originated in Germany?

I hate this one, however good the photography may be - the dog looks as if his/her spirit's been broken.
Very heartbreaking photo. Being the last makes it even worse. I'll need to scroll back up to reset my vision to Happy.

I see tired, and maybe a little sad. The eyes aren’t telegraphing fear or pain.
His whole body stance emits sadness/emotional pain, from head to his hanging down tail.
Load More Replies...I think the gray colors, the scraggly hair, the way the hair falls over the eyes, and cues like the starkness of the chair and emptiness of the oversized background create the illusion this dog is sadder than it actually is. I think they simply had a dog with a calm demeanor look in a certain direction. Another possibility is that a dog that is incurably sick was chosen to model, so we can empathize with the darker side of a dog's life cycle.
These totally made my day - thank you so much!! More of these BP, please :-)
