If we want to learn something new and grow as individuals, we need to expose ourselves to things we haven't encountered before. That's often easier said than done, because stepping outside our comfort zones requires a willingness to be vulnerable in the face of the unfamiliar.
So, we decided to create a controlled, zero-risk environment where everyone who wants to expand their horizons could easily do so. Bored Panda put together a list of fascinating pictures for curious minds, revealing nature, technology, and other aspects of the world you might never have explored—each one ready to spark your next big interest.

In Finland They Advertise The ‘Extra Large’ Size As ‘American Size’
If this is Finland, why is the label in English? Or is Finnish finished?
False. 1.We go to Sams and get a 5 gallon bucket. 2.I like Miracle Whip 3. It absolutely does not work with fries. hehe though I'd stir the pot a bit.
Hate to break it to you, but that's just a regular sized jar of mayo over here.
I think that's what they mean. Your regular is everyone else's ginormous. Same for cars, clothing sizes and many other things besides.
Load More Replies...I wonder if an American would think this was even an extra large size? I noticed for groceries, often our (at least in most European countries) extra large seem to be much smaller than in American supermarkets. I prefer our sizing though, I have often wondered at sizes in American supermarkets and found it hard to imagine the use you'd have of such large quantities save for hosting a large party.
I'm in UK, I buy this size whenever I see it because it tends to be a good deal and keeps well in the fridge. I have never seen the label American size.
Load More Replies...Yeah, but you can buy it buy the gallon here. I love mayo on a sandwich but looking at a gallon in the fridge grosses me out.
"Everything is bigger in Texas" like mayo, number of guns allowed, hats, ego
I can't find fault with other countries ridiculing the US like this. We deserve it.
600 g of mayonnaise at .9g/ml means this is 546 (ish) ml of mayo. This is 18 (ish) fluid ounces in the United States. Most jars of mayo are 30 fl oz in the United States. The pictured jar is a *small* jar of mayonnaise. (If you want that little you should make it yourself IMO mayo goes bad and/or breaks if you make it yourself fairly quickly and can only be rescued with an immersion blender/countertop blender once or twice this is okay for small amounts)
So what you're saying is there's this size (big to Finland, small to the US), and there's an even bigger size beyond that in the US itself? Is it labelled "Fat F****r-sized"?
Load More Replies...I live in Finland and have never seen one like that. Hellmann's is my favourite mayo, but 600g would last us a year.
Hellmann's is the best of the store-bought. But lately I've discovered homemade mayonnaise...!
Load More Replies...And that's not even all that big. I just convert 600 grams; it''s to only ~21 ounces vs. our usual quart / 32 ounces.
Not all of us eat like that. For example, the brand of mayonnaise I use sells mayonnaise in 340.19-gram jars and my family and I don’t use mayonnaise very much, either. We would rather just eat eggs as they are.
What is a "duplicate comment" now especially when I haven't posted the same thing before.
That’s still small for the USA. You can buy it by the gallon there lol
I just looked at the Miracle Whip jar in my frig (size I have always bought) its 32oz. That 600g jar = 21oz.
600 g mayonnaise (or mustard or ketchup) isn't anything special here in Hungary. They don't write "american" or "family" or anything "sized", just the weight. If i remember correctly, usually we buy the 720 g sized, but 1 kg is not uncommon. (Since it's conserved, it's good for a long time, when stored properly)
I know they're trying to be funny but that's only half the size it should be for our regular not to mention Texas or Alaska sized
'Merica, F**K YEAH!!! *look it up. ** not in a we're great way, but in some Americans made a movie with string puppets that I personally think was pretty f*****g funny.
600 g advertised as 50% [something]. Assuming that's 50% more, the standard size is 400g. Not sure what's American about it, though. Also: if that's really in Finland, why is all the writing that I can make out in English? I remain baffled. I'm a Brit and that's a British brand.
600g is not that much mayo. Especially if you have a big family. Plus it lasts for ages.
Not quite. The mayo we buy comes in 30 oz jars. This isn't even 21 oz.
Because that is how much mayo the average American would put on one sandwich!
Yep, eat all the abundant mayonnaise with your large family while singing pride songs for the ‘Murica. Its not like you dont have a universal free healthcare.

Why Sunscreen Is Important
Wow one of fathers arms is like this. He's in his 80s now but years of farming and being on a tractor with his right arm only getting sun. We live in Ireland so it wasn't much sun and for past 30 years he wore sunscreen but the damage was already done. The skin is so brittle it bleeds a lot. We're all very fair skinned mostly red heds so it really drives home the importance of sunscreen even in countries that aren't known for sun.
