Yep, they surely do, but not everyone is in a position to exercise that right. In Australia it’s enshrined in law and it protects employees’ right not to respond or engage with work which I’m tipping might be an issue in the US, for example

At my workplace, it made management sort out there roster more than a couple of days in advance. We are all on a 24/7 shift work roster, and if they haven't worked out the roster for the new fortnight before I've worked my final shift for the current fortnight, technically they need to contact me "outside work hours" to notify me of shifts.

This is normal here in Finland. It's deemed offensive and weird if you were to demanded to react to work calls/emails etc outside of work hours. Only in emegencies, depending on the job, it's somewhat ok-ish to contact your workers or colleagues about work.

Is this an LVAD? My uncle had one as a "bridge to transplant." His heart was still there, but no longer pumped. He had his for around 3 years waiting for an available heart. He had no pulse, was always hooked to his battery bag, and had to be very careful bathing and changing his dressings. It was a hard 3 years, but we're so thankful he survived long enough to get a new heart.

    Oh, that’s heartless …😬

Some days, I find myself missing childhood for many reasons. If I could go back to not having a care in the world, not having to pay my own bills or do my own grocery shopping and getting to live within close proximity to all of my friends, I would seriously consider giving up the freedom that adulthood has granted me. But another thing that I hugely took for granted from childhood was my education.

Learning was a drag when I was forced to attend classes every single day, but the wonderful part of being in school is that you’re constantly learning new things. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every single day, I was bombarded with information. And sometimes I miss the experience of being exposed to so much knowledge without having to seek it out on my own.

There is something magical about learning new things every day. And although it takes a bit of effort as an adult, it can certainly be worth it. According to The Goodlife Centre, making sure that you learn something new every day can enhance your quality of life. Acquiring new information can be very satisfying, and it can give your mood a huge boost to realize that you know things now that you wouldn’t have known a few weeks or months ago.

Taking time to learn new things can also reduce your stress. If you spend the entire day worrying about how much work you have to do, how much money you’re going to spend on groceries this week or what responsibilities you have coming up, it can feel great to slow down and focus your mind on learning for a moment. You have to put everything else aside and relax to be able to soak up new information.

I remember a story about a flock of geese that landed in a horribly polluted holding pond near Butte MT; it was full of all the c**p used to separate copper out of the ore. Well, they fried almost immediately. 20 years later a couple of scientists went to study the area to see what could be done to clean up the toxic mess - they found an organism that was able to chelate the heavy metals and safely remove them from the environment. After some research, the only place that organism was ever found was in the anuses of geese. Who says the universe does not have a sense of humor

Yes, I'm Gen X. We were given drinks at home at Christmas from about age 8 (babycham or a snowball). We also were drinking at age 13 in groups at parks for fun. My teen Gen Z kids don't even want a sip of wine with a meal, they meet up with friends in coffee shops not hang around parks after dark (To note I'm int the UK where you can legally drink at home from.age 5).

Making time for learning can also be beneficial for your mental health. Most of us don’t get to experience a sense of accomplishment very often, but it’s a wonderful thing. If you set goals for yourself, you’ll feel amazing once you complete them.

And, of course, the more you know, the better you’ll be at socializing. Have you ever met someone that you just didn’t have anything in common with, so you weren’t sure what to talk about? If you make a point to learn about a wide range of topics, you’ll find connecting with others becomes much easier!

Requirements for residing there: live at least 2 years in Augsburg, be Catholic, and be indigent without debt. Pay about 0.88 euros per year, say 3 daily prayers for the Fugger family that owns it, and work part-time in the community. Apartments are about 600 square feet; ground floor gets a shed and tiny garden, upstairs gets an attic.

Scientists (after several studies) believe that several nights of bad sleep can cause the body to hurt (aches, pains, sciatica etc). These are the same pains that a person with endometriosis has, who also have really bad sleep. So on one hand, people can feel how someone with endometriosis feels, and on the other, scientists are wondering if the endometriosis is causing the pain, the insomnia, or both.

Site about T-Shirt history says: "In 1905, just about a year after, the U.S. Navy (who employed many bachelors with presumably limited sewing abilities) began issuing the buttonless undershirts as undergarments to be worn under the uniform. These white cotton, short sleeved undershirts became commonplace for sailors. Although required to be worn under their actual uniform, exceptions were made in hot conditions. At the discretion of their commanding officers, sailors were sometimes allowed to wear just the undershirt."

No it doesn't. Sewing a button on is trivially easy and any man could be taught how to do it. It's more likely that for practicality's sake the Navy wanted a buttonless undershirt so people weren't wasting time sewing buttons on.

It’s impossible to learn a new skill, language, etc. without making mistakes along the way. Don’t let these hiccups discourage you! It’s also great to channel your inner child and all of the curiosity you had when you were younger when learning something new. Let your mind wander, and ask plenty of questions!

Bit misleading. Skipping the occasional meal here and there won't but continually not having enough calories in a day will eventually lead your body to "try and store calories". It will use body fat first then other parts such as organs to survive. I need to really research this again fully but yes, in times of need your body will use stored fat first.

Intermittent fasting only works if your metabolism is up to speed. If you regularly only eat once a day in a bid to lose weight, your metabolism will slow down, or even almost stop. The best way to lose weight is to have something tiny, several times a day. Think the size of half a boiled egg. Of course, make sure it's healthy and not fattening. Celery, zucchini and a few other vegetables require more energy to digest, than the body gets out of it.

It’s also a good idea to add some time for learning into your schedule. It’s easy for weeks to go by without touching that book on your nightstand or opening your Duolingo app if it’s not part of your routine. But if you allot a certain amount of time every day or week to spend soaking up information, you’ll get used to it! And once you’ve made learning a habit, it’ll feel like something's missing when you skip one of your lessons.

High school sports lead to college sports which lead to college sports revenue. And people who were active in club and volunteer work in the past tend to be active (and generous) in college alumni activities in the future. Follow the money.

Not always true. I am female & live a solitary life. . Recently I had an emergency appendectomy after waiting 7 hours in a packed ER for treatment. I interacted with the staff as I slowly made my way through the triage. It was only after they sent me in to have a test that it revealed how sick I was. I was asked why I didn't speak up if I was in so much discomfort. It was simple, I felt there were people present who were in more discomfort , I explained. I never took any pain medication post surgery. I never take analgesics of any kind. At the dentist I employ my self- hypnosis skills to get through fillings, etc.

They don't contain melatonin, they help your body to produce it. Melatonin is a neurotransmitter, it's not found in food, it's the body that produces it based on what you eat. It's like saying we should eat food with protein because it contains "muscle".

Our condo roof is black. I have tried to convince the ''super" to get the roof painted white in the hopes of actually sleeping all night in summer. So far it's ,"No dice", from him.

Terrifying hallucinations that no one with an ounce of sense will want to experience, caused by the fish being highly toxic at certain times of the year. No, there is no evidence that the Romans ingested poison fish for fun, it's only mention is a single article that I can't find anywhere, and Pliny seems to disavow the notion.

I wonder if the research tried to factor out the causation vs correlation factor. That is, there's a correlation between staying up late and mental health problems. Is it the late bedtime that's the problem, or whatever it is that's keeping these cats up fretting half the night?

There used to be a belief that athletes should not have sex the night before a big event because it drained them of strength. Baseball manager Casey Stengel said "It's not the sex that tires them out. It's staying up all night looking for it that does 'em in."

It depends, when you have to wake up. If at around 6-7 am, than yeah, can cause mental problems, because sleeping less than 7-8 hours for years, can fck you up. But, if you don't have a strict wake up time it's more than fine. Working an afternoon-evening scheduled work is more relaxing, because you never have the alarm-clock stress. Also, is almost 4 am here.

Now *this* one appears to have a false causation assumption. Not to mention that there is no collectively agreed-upon strict medical or psychological definition of “mental health problems”—it’s a lay term that can mean almost anything.

That was labelled BS years ago, by studies made in the field. It really doesn't matter, when exactly do you have your last meal of your day. More relevant is, what are you eating, and when exactly before you go to bed. As for no suirprise "heavy" meals won't make you a light sleep, and you'd eat last 2 hours before going to sleep. If that"s at 21.00, than okay, eat your dinner at around 19.00
