As much of a toxic place as the internet can be, you can also learn something new every time you go online. Such pieces of information don’t necessarily need to add value to your life, but it’s always nice to pick up something that enriches your knowledge in some way.
The All Things Known subreddit is one excellent source. It features facts about existence, reality, or the universe, as the page profile indicates. Topics here are broad, from how illicit substances affect the brain to how plumbing worked during the Medieval Age.
Here are some images from the pages that stood out to us. Enjoy!

Most valuable contribution ever for mankind: The ancestors who first managed to tempt wolves to come a bit closer to the campfire and maybe get some leftovers. Change my mind
It was a two-way street actually. Apparently the *less aggressive*, *less fearful*, and *somewhat smarter* (not to say lazier or less successful as hunter) wolves approached human encampments to find something to eat and we humans encouraged them to hang around because they offered a degree of protection against other predators and humans. In other words, it was transactional and, in this case, wonderfully beneficial to both sides. There are documented cases of wild baboons kidnapping feral puppies and raising them as troop guard dogs but the exact reasons for the behavior are controversial. (Google: apes kidnap puppies.) Did You Know?
This would be for hive bees. Solitary bee varieties sleep in flowers regularly. I used to work in a garden center, and one early morning an elderly lady wanted to buy a plant with a "bee decoration." I said, "Ma'am that's a live bee, it's just sleeping." She said, "Oh my goodness, I just pet a bee!" 🐝🙂
This is not even valid for hive bees, it's bs. If any bee is snoring in a flower, she's just sleeping, hive or solitary.

This "fact" is bs, bees snooze in flowers, there is nothing wrong with them and they aren't dying.

“With the worldwide reach of the Internet and the ubiquity of smart devices that can connect to it, a new age of anytime, anywhere education is dawning,” an excerpt from the article reads.

Scientists Discovered A Massive Underground Forest 197 Meters Deep In A Giant Sinkhole In Guangxi, China
Trees Grow Up To 40 Meters Tall, And The Isolated Ecosystem May Hold Unknown Species. This Hidden World Offers A Rare Glimpse Into Earth’s Untouched Biodiversity And Evolution.
The longest known cave in the world is Mammoth Cave, currently at 406 miles, in Kentucky, USA but the largest room in Mammoth Cave is minuscule compared to several chambers in, or the sinkholes that provide entry to, some caves in Asia. The largest known cave by volume is Hang Son Doong in Vietnam, at about 38.5 million cubic meters. Many of those very large caves have (not really) underground forests where sinkholes allow enough sunlight. Instead of posting a picture, I'd suggest that anyone interested do a Google Images search to also see some of the other amazing things in the cave.

Load More Replies...Much of the boreal forest is mono culture. You see huge areas of nothing but pine. Very different from mixed forests further south. Completely different ecosystem. Also, In this case, this should be looked on as a crop like wheat or corn. It is planted to produce fibre and the spacing selected to maximize it. If you plant them too close they will produce a stand that is scawny and dense as most conifers do not express dominance like hardwoods where some individuals will grow larger and k**l off the weaker ones. The boreal forest has also adapted to wildfire as part of its life cycle and there are species of animals that depend on the burned areas. Wildfire is not a bad thing.

The Cantalloc Aqueducts, Built By The Nazca People In The Peruvian Desert 1,500 Years Ago, Are Still In Use Today

not to brag well I am pretty sure that in italy we have stuff older than this still in use (for example cloaca maxima was built when there still was monarchy - before roman republic and is still used)
The aqueducts are real, but the explanation is not. The holes are merely to allow people access to the underground aqueducts.
The explanation is a bit too simple, but the basics are true. Studies in 2006 found that the openings were purposely shaped to funnel wind into the aqueduct. This wind helps keep the water moving although the channels, and prevents stagnation

I can't recall whst show it was on but there was group of lions in a zoo. Both female and males lions. They were not brothers and sisters but they all grew up together so they treated each other like brothers and sisters. So they were not creating other lion cubs. There was a circus that had closed down in some other country. There was an old male lion in a cage. This zoo bought this lion and introduce this old male lion to this pride of lions. Let's just say he got frisky with the female lions and next thing you know they were plenty of young cubs roaming in the enclosure.

So I've seen this on here several times over the years, and it's always misidentified. These are not houses, these are allotment plots. Still a great innovation, but it should be pointed out that these are not residential. Instead it should be celebrated that community gardens and growing your own crops are given such priority and intention.
But what are the buildings on each lot? They sure look like houses to me 🤷♀️

It looks cute, but regular square plots take up less room and can also have hedges and gardens...
It's a single designed community of 40 allotments from the 1950s. It's designed to look good (the designer mandated ovals for looks) not use space most wisely.
