Something my parents instilled in me from a young age is the importance of good manners. Please, thank you, yes ma’am, no sir and a polite, pleasant attitude can get you a long way. At the same time, acting like a spoiled brat can set you back and, perhaps, even get you called out online.
We took a trip to this subreddit that’s dedicated to putting entitled individuals on blast and gathered some of their best posts below. Nobody wants to be seen as a pushover, and if you genuinely are entitled to something, you shouldn’t be afraid to say so. Boss refuses to accept your time-off requests even though you’ve acquired dozens of days off? Speak up. Food courier forgot half of the meal you paid for at the restaurant? You deserve to get your money back. But it’s important that we all understand what we’re actually entitled to versus what our delusions tell us we deserve.
The Entitled “Batch” subreddit (who’s name we’ve had to censor) is all about calling out individuals who believe they are owed much more than they really are. It describes itself as a place “to post and read about experiences with people who think they can always get their own way and are better than everyone,” and it’s become quite popular. With over 343k members, this online community is the perfect place to remind yourself that not everyone has great manners.

We’ve all encountered entitled behavior before, whether it’s a Karen demanding that a restaurant seat her party before others even though she doesn’t have a reservation or a couple expecting to get free wedding photos from a professional photographer because they went to high school together. But most of us know that this behavior is totally inappropriate, so where does it come from?
To gain more insight on this topic for a previous Bored Panda piece, we got in touch with Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Board Certified Music Therapist Al Hoberman. Al was kind enough to have a chat with us and explain how exactly people justify their entitled behavior.

“Entitlement can come across as overconfidence, but turned on its head, we can see it as an expression of some kind of need,” Al explained. “Maybe it’s wanting to feel special, to be cared and provided for, or to know that you’ll be there for them. Wanting a lot is a sign that someone feels that they’re lacking a lot, whether they’re fully aware of it or not.”

Someone recently parked in my driveway (I live next to a field where they were holding a kids football tournament). I told him it was my private space and he couldn't park there, his reply was "f**k off, you're not using it" (my car was in the garage, which I couldn't open as this asshat had parked on my drive). I went to the shed, got my old wheel clamp, and then shouted to him "20 seconds to move it or you won't be able to". I got the same reply as first time. So, while grinning at him, I put the clamp on his car, making sure it was extra tight, pointed out the sign on my garage door saying anyone who parks there will be clamped, then put the key in my pocket, got into my wife's car (which was next to his on the driveway) and drove to work. Had a call from a neighbour a few hours later saying there was a guy kicking off and my new car was getting towed (wasn't mine obviously, was this random a******s car). He must have called a tow truck himself and got them to take his car.

Well yeah, I can tell you exactly why they parked that way, because it's an expensive car, and they wanted to leave plenty of room so it didn't get dinged or scratched by other people getting in and out of their cars. That doesn't make it okay though. Your fancy penis extension doesn't trump common decency.

One, don't drive your R8 to the beach if you're worried about it getting dinged. But at least it's an R8. There's a person with a 2014 Camaro V6 at my workplace that does this, but parks diagonally across the center of 4 spots.

It's a "pay to park" parking lot. Where I live, that means the lot owner has the right to tow vehicles like this at the owner's expense (plus, owner has to to pay to get their vehicle out of the impound lot).

Well, almost all shopping locations have signage that they are not responsible for damage from carts. Well, I'd be taking some carts around that car, scratching the H out of it.

I do this in my designated parking spots all the time, because I literally pay rent for them, and if I don't, someone else is sure to park there, and then my guests have nowhere to park. But, I would *NEVER* park like this in a public lot!

While setting boundaries with entitled individuals is a good way to handle conflict, Al told Bored Panda that it doesn’t prevent it altogether. “It can be an emotionally taxing process, and especially if you’re naturally conflict-averse, it's important to have a support system in place as you go through it. This could mean speaking with friends, a partner, or a therapist, but should also include keeping in mind that you’re in a vulnerable place and treating yourself with care.”
