Gosh, I can’t imagine. When I was a teen me and my family were very well off. But when I was with my friends that were in different situations we would always do something we could all afford, like thrifting and finding the ugliest things we could or going to a matinee and sneaking candy in. I went to a private school with kids whose parents owned jets and a yacht and other kids who were there because of donations. There were good kids that had the jet and yacht lifestyle but gosh there were kids who were so clueless. One kid said he was poor. Pointed out he lived on a golfing neighborhood (the links were his backyard) and owned a golf cart and boat. He still said he was poor. Smh

I so hope your dad makes this a teachable situation and refuses to replace it.

I was working my way through college, and my Mom said this to me when she wanted me to take a vacation to Greece with her and my dad for a cousin's (get side of the family) wedding. -_- Despite working as much as possible, and work+classes+studying giving me, typically, 16hr days, I still had to take out a ton of loans just to afford school and rent, and she expected me to be able to take time off. Some people are just out of touch.

When me and my sister argued over what TV show to watch, my mother bought us both 12" b&w no name TVs (<$100 ea) from a five and dime. We were so happy to get them. Of course this was probably the early 70s.
