“And I Thought I Was Lazy”: 50 People Who Took Laziness To Infuriating Levels (New Pics)
While I am not an expert, I want to believe that being lazy is normal and natural if not taken to an extreme. The extreme being a degree where it’s not just inconvenient but also counter-intuitive, self-harming, and it actually starts affecting other people.
Someone being so lazy that it infuriates you fits the bill, and that’s the name of the game in this listicle. Folks online are sharing times when they found someone being so lazy (or the legacy thereof) that it hurt their brain, either figuratively or literally because they probably had to suffer the consequences.

Laziness is considered to be a lack of individual effort in order to perform or act as expected. So, being capable of doing something, but choosing not to, fits that criteria.
Some psychologists, however, point out that there’s another, synonymous term, procrastination, that has a fine nuance to distinguish it from laziness. With this one, it’s choosing not to do something after having had intentions of doing it. Laziness, on the other hand, is never having had intentions of doing it in the first place.

Anyway, if you were to say that procrastination is a bit of an epidemic among folks, you wouldn’t be wrong. Studies have shown that up to 20% of adults feel that they struggle with procrastination. That goes double (well, double and a half) with college students, of whom 50% have trouble with partaking in the forbidden fruit. And this applies to everyone, even the most hard-working individuals out there.

The causes of procrastination come in many shapes, flavors and sizes. One of the more surprising finds among researchers is that it can serve as a coping mechanism. Not for coping with time management issues—rather for emotion management.
For some, finishing a task of a job might bring up anxiety or even a general feeling of avoidance. Putting it off, though, helps tackle the problem. Heck, procrastination can be interpreted as a rational reaction to an unpleasant situation, hence putting it off until you’re ready.

Another reason why procrastination is a thing is, in simple terms, it’s boring and icky. The brain learns that habitual behaviors and actions can be skipped by means of procrastinating, instead going for things that would be more enjoyable.
Interestingly enough, age can be a factor too. Because we have this thing called the prefrontal cortex, which is all about planning, decision making and concentration (among other things), having one that hasn’t matured yet might lead to some more rash decisions, like skipping out on doing work now without considering the impact.

Other reasons include more run-of-the-mill explanations, like lack of energy, willpower and sleep, having learned laziness from someone, distraction and some folks might just be born with it. Yes, you can have personality characteristics, like low conscientiousness and impulsivity, that might make you more prone to putting things off. Heck, being a perfectionist can have the same effect—it kinda ties in with the whole unpleasant emotional baggage of doing a task because of the self-imposed high standard.

Psssshhh. Some of these posts, it takes a lot of effort to be that lazy!!

But, to be or not to be lazy is trivial. The key question here is whether it’s good or not. The fact that it can get you into trouble because of the habit of not doing stuff on time or at all, being unreliable as a human being and that snowballing into bigger issues is definitely not good. But does it directly affect health and well being? Science says it doesn’t know (yet), what is known is that it can prevent positive behaviors from happening. You know, like wanting to exercise and be healthy!

Lazy People Ruin Frozen Items Putting It On Random Shelves
How My Sister Leaves The Bathroom
Oh, that's how my former colleague used to leave our common desk. Sheets of paper, pens, clips, agendas, plus personal items such as lipstick, comb, mirror, half-eaten croissant etc. Until one day when I decided I had enough of it. I took a big plastic bag and put all of her scattered items inside. She was outraged and escalated it to our manager, who was on my side (moreover, he said I could throw all that "garbage" away from then on). You wouldn't believe how tidy she became after that :)))
And because we’re human—i.e. complex beings—perception often throws a spanner in the works in understanding whether we’re truly lazy or not.
Say a person has a daily to-do list of 20 things, but only ends up going through maybe half of them by the end of the day. In that case, of course there’s going to be that view that we’re lazy—just look at all the stuff you’ve been slacking off on! In reality, however, that’s not being lazy, but rather having far too much to do trying to exceed a physical and mental limit. If anything, that’s working too hard.
I Just Caught A Lazy Neighbor "Walking Their Dog" By Car
In our country its intentional torture of animals by law, and its punished very strictly
Wait... what? How is this torture? Embarrassingly lazy, yes. Torture??
Load More Replies...Are they impaired? Makes a huge difference. I find it better to just not judge anymore as best I can.
That was my thought too. Maybe they have a broken leg or something. It's hard to walk a large dog when you're on crutches, but the dog still needs to be walked.
Load More Replies...I had a Doberman I walked once a day. Problem is, unless I jogged, he would have to slowly pace by my side. And I couldn't jog long enough to give him sufficient exercise. So I taught him to trot alongside my bike. I see nothing wrong with this picture if the dog is trained to trot alongside the car. As a matter of fact, I think it's much safer this way than trotting alongside a bike. If you own an animal, you are obligated to keep it healthy and well fed. Well, this falls under healthy. And I'll tell you this, when Dobermans were dying at the age of 7 and 8 during the time I was biking my dog, he was running around like a puppy until the week before he died of cancer and he was 11 1/2 years old.
Even if this person can't walk for whatever reason, this is such a dangerous thing to do for so many reasons. Yes, Huskies have a ton of energy to expend, but this person should find someone who can help them care for their pup temporarily, or permanently if they cannot meet the dog's needs.
This might not be "lazy". The driver may have some reason they can't walk but are still trying to give their dog some exercise, in which case they are making extra effort not less. I don't have a dog but 1 1/2 years ago I had plantar fasciitis bad and it hurt to just walk across my living room. And they appear to be in a road with very little traffic.
I live in a low-traffic area with no sidewalks and plenty of dog-walkers. NEVER have I seen someone risk their pet's life like this. Their foot could slip on the pedal at any moment and they could accelerate too much and strangle the dog (who knows how its leash is configured), another car could be driving irresponsibly in the opposite lane and not be expecting someone to be "walking" their frickin dog in the middle of the road and come blazing around a corner, the driver could jerk the steering wheel by accident, also strangling the dog...I feel for people who struggle to walk their dogs, but if they care about their pets and have a basic understanding of physics, they wouldn't take this grossly irresponsible risk.
Load More Replies...I used to take my pup for runs on my bicycle, not on the bike. Running next to it. It impossible for most people unless you are in your 20s (I've ran 2 marathons) to tire a pup out just walking. I did 10k runs but I was no match for a 40 kg 1 year old bundle of energy. I used my car a few times when I had injuries and could run or get on my bike. It's not easy at all. I didn't like doing it but Donna loved it. I didn't take her on paved roads only dirt roads so she didn't hurt a paws. Even today, she's 14 and we still do 10k walks on weekends
This one is judgy. Maybe they're impaired somehow but care about their dog enough to make sure they're getting walked.
My doggy was impossible to tire out. Even today at 14, if we have a couple of rainy days when I can't give her a good walk she get restless and starts bring toys for to throw around the house to play.
Load More Replies...Not sure if you're in a driver-side-left or driver-side-right country, but ideally the dog goes next to the driver, where you can best see him.
Load More Replies...I've had three huskies (not all at once, but two at a time) and I took them for long walks every day, and a for free runs in the woods about once a week. Until I got cancer and got nerve damage in my feet from chemo. A good friend and dog lover took over the long walks, but for one, Elvis, it was never enough. I resorted to runs by the car but NOT on a road where there would be other cars. On dirt road in the country where other cars were rare. I already knew he like running by the car, because he would sometimes get loose. I'd go driving around our small town to find him. Suddenly, there he'd be running along side my car. I'd set the cruise control at 4 miles per hour and we'd do a mile or so. I was very careful when doing this, kept one eye on him all the time. Was I torturing Elvis? Not according to him. He went bananas with excitement when he saw the harness come out. We did this about once a month. Rustie, my other Huskie at the time, paid no attention to the harness.
Seems dangerous. Although, they may be recently crippled, and that dog type needs constant exercise.
At least they have the dog on a leash! My neighbors just let their dogs run around, pooping on my property, not to mention we have mountain lions and coyotes, it’s dangerous and rude!
Although I advocate for leashes under normal circumstances, the leash is actually one of the most dangerous elements of this particular situation unfortunately because it's connected to the car 😓 if the driver accidentally accelerates too quickly or steers too much in one direction it can seriously hurt the dog
Load More Replies...We have a guy in our neighborhood who does this. He has severe arthritis and some days it is so painful for him BUT he loves BoJangles so he takes him for his "walks". These two are great together and we all all stop and talk and give Bo our love. This is something they do together and they both love it.
As it should be!! I don't know why so many people on here think this is acceptable pet care under any conditions
Load More Replies...I would agree Jay, but people's situations change.
Load More Replies...To be fair, Husky dogs require so much activity that this might be someone’s only option (once in a while or when you are sick) if you have small garden or none
I agree. And it doesn't look like a busy road. The dangers from other cars that people are upset about could just as easily happen if the person was walking along side the dog. I had a neighbor who, in his 90's, used a golf cart to walk his dog around the neighborhood.
Load More Replies...That is so dangerous in every manner possible. Get someone else to walk the dog or get a cat
The only problem I see is the yellow face attached to the front of the car. Who does that?
Eh, we don’t know the whole story. Could be someone disabled and has difficulty walking.
That's a Husky = High Energy dog... this means the dog has more energy then that human's kids and the kids' classmates! So long as the husky's human only creeps along at 1-2 mph
If this was a temporary solution for an injury or illness this is fine, but if you are too old, disabled, busy, lazy, etc to care for a husky, don't have a husky. Im disabled and I have bunnies because I can't walk a dog enough for it to have the quality of life it deserves. I don't need to walk bunnies and my bunnies have a great life.
That looks horrible, but possible it's an elderly person. When my grandma got older she had to walk her dog with her golf cart
Saw this in the state game lands in PA where I live, or some mentally challenged person that exercises their dog by letting it out, then driving down the road (state game land road) and the dog runs after. THEY ARE ALLOWED TO DO THIS! (I asked a ranger!) It sucks if you are walking dogs on leash there as they normally have zero control over their dogs!
So rather than finding some other way to exercise the dog (like ask a friend/neighbor, hire a dog walker, or sit in the yard/house and throw a toy/ball???) it’s ACCEPTABLE for them to have their dog basically ON THE ROADWAY WITH CARS? Another car could easily sideswipe or even just swerve and that Husky would be dead. This is abuse and negligence, regardless of the owner’s physical situation.
Load More Replies...Yes, the owner SHOULD hurt themselves as punishment for risking their dog’s life like this. All it would take is one small swerve by another car and that dog is dead. Or if the dog sees a squirrel and RUNS IN FRONT of the owner’s car. Or if the leash breaks. Or if the dog slips out of its collar. Or if the owner can’t hold on to the leash end. There are so many risks to this dog’s life, and the owner’s potential physical condition is NO excuse. Throw a ball, ask a friend for help, or hire a dog-walker if you cannot physically walk your dog yourself. This owner’s behavior is abhorrent.

I'd take a picture first as proof then claim both bikes. Technically not your fault because you had to remove your bike while another was stuck to it.
Considering all of this, face the fact that being lazy isn’t bad and it’s unavoidable. Consider it forced rest. As for how to get the biggest bang out of your buck by not letting procrastination and laziness take the top spot, try these on for size:
Prioritize your tasks to make sure time-sensitive ones are done first; punch down larger projects into smaller, more approachable tasks; limit your distractions at the workplace; and if that doesn’t help, create an environment that helps you focus, i.e. music.

The list goes on: don’t forget to take regular breaks to reward your brain with something less daunting and more stimulating; keep your focus on the end-goal as it might motivate you more; move around or exercise during breaks to keep the right chemicals circling around in you; track your healthy habits, like 'I’ve done X amounts of work' for context and self-reflection; and you can always get a buddy to hold you accountable.
Though, keep in mind that this might also be a situation of Monopoly, where you begin the game as friends and then become sworn enemies because Cheryl nabbed Park Place.

A sad yet easy conclusion to such post is that only harsh punishment and shaming stop trashy behaviors. In the cleanest countries, if you throw a paper to the ground, you get a very harsh fine. That’s how you make people assimilate respect in their daily behavior. Education clearly isn’t enough, some people only fear punishment.
I would like to clarify some of these. this is in no way an apology post to excuse all these horrendous acts, but rather to clarify that we are not ALL like this. How some people can be seen as lazy, they might just have something going on in their head. I myself have ADHD, so some of the things like these I've done, have not been a case of "i dont wanna do it, its not my job to do this, its the staff's" its just that ive forgotten after zoning out for a while, and i dont realize it. But this is not the case for EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE PEOPLE ON THIS LIST. for the kids that leave stuff a wreck, their excuse that i find only works up until maybe like, 9-10 years old because they just earned their own responsibilites is that they are a kid, and dont know any better, but its pointless to argue against entitled parents who let them do that, until the aforementioned age. Just found out about word limits, so im going to make each point seperate in the replies.
For the tourists on the plane who just left it in utter dismay their excuse is probably "i had a long flight, i dont wanna do any work". if you've had a long flight, you are probably a tourist FROM canada going here( take my advice, please dont) or visiting family who lives here, not going TO canada, so that excuse isnt valid. You are a grown a*s adult, clean up after yourselves, especially if you are a tourist. people like you are the reason why other countries have to give locations either A: a ban or at the very least a time limit on tourism and tourist hours, or B: a really heavy fine on littering and stuff like that, the latter of these two is probably more likely. Im disgusted by those people.
