Moss And Lichens On A Log. Northern Michigan, USA.
I find lichens utterly fascinating and have many photos of these beautiful bits of nature!
In Scotland we had a very large log in the garden, covered in moss, ferns and lichen, I would not let my husband move it. Came home one day and the builders had lit a fire next to it, left and the log had caught fire. I was so cross

Load More Replies...FUN FACT: Artichokes are a type of thistle. I have a great recipe for artichoke dip, if anyone is interested.
I don't think I've really tried artichoke, but mum was talking about it the other day. I would love the recipe :)

Hibiscus, lovely flower so many varieties of it. I use it to make a lovely hairoil, it lends superb sheen and thickness to hair.
This is a tropical hibiscus (Hibiscus Rosa-sinensis). Probably the cultivar called "Painted Lady".

Thank you for the compliment Dun Dun :-)
Load More Replies...I’m 66 years old and I’ve never seen this flower…where does this grow?
In Flander's Fields ;-) ..... It's from the "Poppy" family, so pretty common in agricultural fields and meadows here in Belgium. (and can be found in most of Europe, parts of Africa and Asia). This one is a variant species of the well known full red poppy that is used in remembrance of World War 1, which explains it's shift in color.

We have these along my street in the US. When a breeze blows, it "rains" soft, pink petals. Beautiful.
Je to z Petřína? Slyšel jsem že třešně hezky květly tam v dubnu. (Is that from Petrin? I heard that the cherries bloomed beautifully there in April.)
Ne, bylo to focené v Lodžské ulici na bohnickém sídlišti (Praha 8). :) (No, It is from Lodžská street in Bohnice (Prague 8).)

For me, the only thing more glorious than a perfectly ripe peach right off the tree is a perfectly ripe apricot right off the tree!
We used to have an Apricot tree in OR, when I was younger. They taste so good.

It was a wonderful surprise and the flowers were tiny and yellow. Then they died and the looong stem dried up and next winter when I brought it in for the winter it grew me another thank you flower. Happy aloe plant.
Do you use the Aloe on cuts and burns? My grandmother used to do that. Go cut of a section of a stem and rub it on the affected area.
