No one is immune to getting a bad haircut. As much as we all wish to confidently leave the salon feeling like we just stepped out of the cover of our favorite magazine, this isn’t always the case. We’re sometimes bound to quietly watch in horror as the hairstylist is chopping off our locks, leaving us with a hilarious hairdo gone way wrong. Then, we get this overwhelming urge to hide all the mirrors and stay indoors until our beloved strands grow back.
But since we don’t have time machines to take us back and erase it all, we can at least poke fun and have a good laugh at our cringe-worthy moments. This is where the 'Is This Your Client?' Instagram account comes in. With the tagline "No one is safe," it is dedicated to sharing the most tragic and unfortunate haircut accidents people have ever posted online.

No matter our expectations or hopes, getting a bad haircut is quite easy. I mean, just scroll through the 'Is This Your Client' feed and you’ll see proof right there. With over 154k followers, the creator of the page offers hundreds of painfully funny haircut examples that should make you feel slightly better about your own past accidents.
Of course, we're not the ones to deny that taste is a matter of individual choice. And even if you end up with a hairdo you're unhappy with, it's important to remember that it is far from an irreversible catastrophe. It’s hair, it will grow back, and you’ll get over the initial embarrassment fairly quickly. But if you ever walked around with terribly dyed locks or crooked bowl cuts, chances are that this experience got permanently carved into your memory, teaching you a valuable lesson on how to make better style choices.

Since there are so many different lengths and styles, it can be confusing to know what cut would look naturally flattering on you. Moreover, you may forget to consider the time you’re willing to spend on maintaining your hairstyle every single day. Rob advised that one of the best ways to be sure about your options is to listen to what your stylist has to say.
"We are professionals and will always act in the clients' best interest to make you look and feel as good as possible," he noted. But as with everything in life, it’s best to appear in the salon already prepared. Rob suggested always using Instagram or Pinterest or some kind of visual aid to try to steer your stylist in the right direction. Then, you can have a conversation with your stylist who "will come up with the perfect compromise to make your hair look on point."

So a good way to ensure you emerge from the hairdresser’s chair with desired results is to talk with your stylist before and during the process. Just think about how much confusion happens simply because we fear voicing our thoughts, concerns, and doubts. Speaking up and being crystal clear about your expectations will go a long way and will prevent you from feeling uncomfortable in the near future.
Another reason regrettable haircuts occur is clients having unrealistic expectations, Rob added. Or they encounter inexperienced stylists who are "unable to manage clients' expectations and deliver something that is much more suitable to their lifestyle and the style that they are after."

these aren't locs - it's the result of a VERY VERY long time w/o soap, water, brushing or any level of care. all the hair has clumped into one giant matted turd of sebaceous excrement, dirt, sweat & mold. straight causasian doesn't "loc" naturally like coiled African hair does. the lack of washing & level of unkemptness it takes to turn such hair into this is incomprehensible. vids of other ppl w hair like this getting it cut, washed etc. revealed 100s of maggots living inside. samples showed fecal matter glued on (human & pet) urine, random moth wings, literal fungus spores so progressed that parts are greenish from the mold, plus other unspeakable abhorrence. also just wanted to mention it's better to use the term 'locs' as opposed to 'dreads', which has a negative definition, tons of negative connotations & isn't what black ppl want associated to a hair form steeped in importance, reverence, history & cultural significance!:)

For a moment I thought this was my classmate from secondary school, but I don´t see any concealer lips.
While it is a simple process that only takes a couple of minutes, you need to keep an eye on that area to see whether you're experiencing any irritation. According to a blog post from Tierney Salons, you should do a hair color skin test at least 48 hours before the appointment. This is the time it takes for your skin to show any kind of reactions, allowing your immune system to properly respond. "Within or after 48 hours, if you have redness, swelling, irritation or burning sensations in the patch test area, this means that your skin has reacted to the product," meaning stylists won’t go ahead with that particular color.

This is kinda epic lol! My sister had a "birds nest" in her hair once, not like this though. She had long blonde thick hair right down to her bum for years and my mother wouldn't let her cut it off. My sister was fed up with it and couldn't maintain it on her own, and my mother wouldn't help her maintain it. So one time she was down at my aunties house and my auntie tried to do her hair for her and she found this huge knotted bit of hair, that resembled a birds nest, all tangled under her hair, right up to her hairline at the back of her head. It took a full bottle of conditioner, scissors, combs, brushes and many tears to finally get it out of her hair. What had happened was when my sister was brushing her hair herself she was just running the brush down the top of her hair and NOT brushing the underside at all which allowed this huge knot of tangled hair to form. Thankfully it never happened again. She was only about 10 when this happened, not old enough to care for her hair properly

But, my God, when her hair was freshly washed and brushed properly it was like a shimmering curtain of gold! It was absolutely glorious! I think it was about a year after the "birds nest" incident that my mother finally let her cut her hair. My dad pulled it into a low hanging ponytail and just cut a huge chunk of it off and after that it was still about halfway down her back. She kept it like that until she was 16. She was raped when she was 16 and a couple of months after that she came home from the hairdressers with her hair cut short, a bit shorter than shoulder-length, and dyed a kind of copper colour. Which was understandable because of what she went through, she wanted to look different from how she did when she was attacked. Unfortunately she killed herself 2 weeks after her court case ended the following year (he was found guilty!). She was only 17. She's been dead 20yrs this year. She was my baby sister and I miss her every single day. Apologies for turning this post morbid.

Go to a place with a LOT of positive reviews. Also be aware, the color will fade eventually. Brown fades to red, black to blue or green. So you will either need to go back to a pencil eventually or retouch it

This was trending when I was in high school (we were required to keep our hair natural), most of us thought it was cute because we could have the back hair in a mini fro and the front would be parted and cute… A few year down the line, I look at my high school photos and I apologize to every strand of my 4C hair for how roughly I used to comb it to create such a terrible horrible no-good hair style.

I know a few people who have done this, they do it to keep the long hair, but get the undercut so it's not hot. I understand that - I've got thick hair that is like wearing a fur hat in the summer, but this one is just poorly done.

Agree. You go straight across. I refer to mine as a reverse mullet. My underside in the back is shaved to my ears. I'm pre-menapause and l'm a welder. It helps so much.

These are women that tried tutorials from social media. Apparently, during the pandemic, women lost their minds. It's the same thing with bleaching jobs that fried the hair, or in some cases, melted it.

My sister had afro hair as a kid and read a tutorial in a magazine that told her to wrap wet toilet paper around her hair and leave overnight to produce gorgeous natural looking curls. They came out like this, like something from an Emily Bronte adaptation. My mother had to iron it out before she could go to school. The joys of being half Israeli in the 90s before electric hair styling tools lol 😂

I see nothing, it just looks like the stylist is halfway thru doing an elaborate updo. I got an updo for a fancy holiday party once & my stylist did something similar before pinning it all up.

My hair looked like the left girl´s when I bleached it from dark brown (at home no less), and it began to grow out. I knew I would not bleach it again, so I kept dying it fun colours. Good times!

Yeah on some level, you probably have. But there was a time (early 2000s) when nothing was wrong with this haircut/clororing (I was all with it)... but unfortunately self-righteous "Karen's" started to claim it for themselves since them. Making it a trademark...

It's more of a styling thing. people curl their hair but usually break up the curls to create more volume. It can be harder to do with such long hair, at least from my experience

I feel like things like this are just looking down on people, and judging people, and making fun of people who haven't actually hurt anybody or done anything wrong. They're just kind of having a bad-hair day. Now, if you had a photo-thread where people volunteered their OWN bad hair days, that would be different. But this ... live and let live. Pushing somebody else down doesn't make me stand any taller.
