This Instagram Shares Painfully Funny Memes For Days When You Just Can’t Laugh (50 Pics)
If you've ever had an office job, or any job, for that matter, you know how it goes. Your precious 24 hours that will never return are eaten up by this corporate monstrosity that you gotta pretend you thoroughly enjoy. Meetings, deadlines, feedback are all followed by that weird smile you gotta squeeze out like a glass of OJ, even if you’re dying inside.
So nothing brings us, millennial office workers, so much inner comfort, nothing tucks us in like a warm blanket, nothing soothes our tired souls like a warm glass of milk, quite like work memes. No wonder we are the generation that can cite lines from The Office by heart.
The Instagram account “Employee Up” is exactly the place that generates memes out of the daily absurdity of our work life. From lunch breaks to job interviews, from survival meetings and webinars to prayers for the manager, it’s something that feels terribly relatable. Below we selected some of the funniest workplace memes from the account, so pull your seat closer.

Congratulations and best wishes. The medical community and therefore the world has gained a valuable new asset. We need more go-getters like you.
It’s about putting a smile on your face when you’re not having a good day, week, month or year.

And then u get assholes that tell people to get a second job when you say your struggling
They've always wanted to hire the married man and they still do. For that reason. If there was a wife/partner/caretaker able to take of him at home; they could, morally and ethically, beat the everloving c**p out of that guy. Single guy will eventually break. The married guy will return again and again to the abuse in order to support the family that supports him as he supports the company. Toxic, isn't it.
I'm employed full-time, also a single dad to a teen daughter, I liked this.
Who works 40 hours? I've never worked anywhere that by the end of the work week I'd worked less than 50 or 60 hours. I knew something was up.
Just hire someone to do the housework, like it was back then...
40 hours a week are pretty much standard here in EU and people can still manage to do everything they need to do
The f**k is wrong with y’all? How, exactly, does this count as funny?
It's like they gave it a title from another thread. And no one else cares...
Load More Replies...In order to laugh at workplace memes, you gotta relate to them. And the only way to relate to them is to actually (have) or to have had a job like this. But job hunting is a daunting mission that challenges all your thresholds at once, from dignity to persistence. Because the truth is, the only thing which is worse than having a boring office job is not having a job at all.
So in order to make this post as useful for potential job hunters as possible, we reached out to Dawn Moss, the founder of “Your Interview Coach” who has been helping both candidates and hiring managers through the recruitment and selection process since 2013.
NO ONE on their death bed ever said: "I wish I would have spent more time at work."
100% correct. Too much "I'll sleep when I'm dead" mentality being taught by the self-proclaimed "success" gurus. Guess what. They're the ones getting richer on our money, and we're the ones suffering massive diabetes, heart failure, mental health issues, you name - all of which is linked to lack of sleep, overwork, stress, and financial stress. We'd be a lot healthier, happier and financially better off if we stopped listening to the rich scam artists and giving them all our money. Decades and decades of outcomes speak for themselves.
I have a co-worker that told me that she used to work with someone who would clock-in, work her 8 hours and then leave everyday on time like... it was a bad thing...? I was like, yeah...watch me do the same! I have a life to live and a family to love on, sorry-not-sorry. 🤷🏽♀️
I've been watching a lot of 90s movies and tv lately. Good god! "Let's all work for forever because the writers don't know what else we are supposed to do!" People have lives, you know.
I think I used to have a life. Moat likely, one of my ex wives has it. Although. I hav
Load More Replies...Im Late 50's. My work is toxic emotionally and hazardous physically. Work with people in mid 60's to 70 who refuse to retire, have retirements in excess of $7k/month. They complain about our employer and do very little work. I ask them wth don't u retire then? They have no answer. I plan to retire somewhere cheap overseas in 6 months making less than $2k/month and couple hundred thousand cash and the financial advisor I talked to yesterday made me feel like an idiot; that I was poor, should keep working and that I didn't make enough for them to bother with. My friend retired same age a few years ago and told me, if u don't need to wait for SSI, take your early retirement and enjoy life. You will appreciate those years between 57 and 62 more than you will the money. I hate my job, am too old to get hired elsewhere and don't want to end up like these older guys here, but im being guilted into thinking im stupid for leaving money on the table.
Nobody else should dictate your life! Is that adviser living your life? Nope, you are!! Here's the real question. Can you afford to retire, and would you be happy with your lifestyle if you did? If the answer is yes, well then go ahead! I've learned it's not always about money! You Don't have to have the biggest house on the block and the nicest cars in the driveway! If YOU are happy then that's all that matters!!
Load More Replies...like people who say they are depressed for views (obviously some people are depressed but some fake it on the internet)
During covid daughter worked 60+ hours a week. She is definitely burned out. She got another job where they hired more PSW's so the work load was not so demanding. Now she will have a family life and get proper sleep.
Nobody should have to. Unfortunately opportunity and bring poor seem to have opposing correlations. If me and my kid are starving, guess who's gonna take any job.
Load More Replies...Why one or the other? If you were a racist online years ago, why should I believe you're not a racist now that you've got famous and a publicist stops you from saying things?
Sounds good in theory...but when you cancel a celebrity, it doesn't really affect your life. When you cancel a job, you don't make money, and if you don't make money, you can't buy tacos 🌮🌮🌮 and if you can't buy tacos, then you might as well just give up.
When you thought higher education was meant to help you but you realize its just another business taking your money and offering false promises.
This!! But also companies that will only pay $13/hr for jobs that should be $20-25 per hour. Especially if you have a college degree or many many years in the field.
Nobody forces people to apply to those jobs. If nobody applied, those rules would change immediately. Look what happened to waiters this past couple of years...
that was first lesson i learned in my first office job; also salary was not worth it
Oh salary, the perfect way to get overtime out of people without paying them
Load More Replies...I was literally told by the guy who hired me at my last job to take my time. Don't do too much too quickly, or else you'll just get piled on.
Do enough to keep your job. Don’t do so much that you’re a target
And no promotions, cause you know "it would take two people to replace you".
Never show them you can't be replaced. If you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted...
True every place I worked. And it was me that got punished. Last time I said bye bye. Months later ex boss phones me asking if I'd consider coming back as I was such a good fit. Yeah. They found one person couldn't do what I was doing. I said sorry, nope.
Dawn was happy to share some useful tips about job seeking. So you may pull your seat closer. A good place to start is Linkedin, so if you haven’t got an account, you should create one. “I’ve always been a big advocate for using LinkedIn to look for jobs, career progression and promotion opportunities. However, it’s not necessarily using LinkedIn as you would a traditional job board,” Dawn told us and added that “LinkedIn is a great place to network and connect with recruiters and employers.”
You write that on your cover letter and I'd hire you on the spot. We often forget that we are hiring *people*, not "machines precisely tuned to some imaginary criteria someone came up on the loo".
I'm looking for work right now. They always ask, what made you apply for a job at this company? Too bad I can't answer with umm because I need a freaking job!!
Companies are getting more and more arrogant and self entitled. Greedy and cheap to pay up but yet they can make all the demands
Load More Replies...Mine was to be a park ranger and ride a gigantic dog to work everyday, or a game developer who rides a gigantic dog to nearby schools so the kids can pet the dog. I really liked big dogs.
I'm in H.R. and I never receive or would read cover letters. With all of the other means of checking a candidate's background and references, it is not important to accompany a resume with a cover letter. I don't have the time to read them; although I must state that reading a cover letter might be a good process of elimination if the writer cannot properly express her/himself. I've read some absolutely wretched resumes (not for history but for content.) Can't imagine how wretched cover letters might be.
When interviewing for a job, I asked about how important references were, I was told that they don't take them seriously because your current employer often times will give you a bad reference because they don't want you to leave and will do whatever they can to keep you.
Load More Replies...Absolutely! For that amount of money, I'd have the place spotless, beautiful, and perfect! And I'd be able to save enough to retire in no time. Besides, the dead are more pleasant than most living outdoor these days anyway!
Yeah, befriend all the ghosts and spectres and have the sickest crew ever!
Lived all my life in front of a cemetery, where can I sign that contract?
Bro I would love to make friends with ghosts for 80 F*****G DOLLARS AN HOUR!
Clearly that spot is already taken, you'll have to be dead somewhere else.
Load More Replies...I want to move to Finland! Really all the Scandinavian country's are unfathomably better than what this stupid country (USA) is becoming. We're being flung into a new dark age. Wondering how bad things have to get here before we can get asylum elsewhere!
...& watch a 60 minute tv show with 25 mins of commercials...sad, sad, just f'n sad!
Load More Replies...I have friends who work in Denmark, they essentially work until their work is done. They never work over 40 hours a week. Some weeks it's more like 25. There's no 'stay until 5' - once they're done they go. Amazing how much more efficient people are when they can go once they're done.
As a chef in a restaurant, tell me how one works until they're done?
Load More Replies...We switched to a six hour work day during covid lockdown. My boss decided to make it permanent. I get just as much work done, and I am sooooooo much happier, more rested, and less stressed.
The US mindset: work work work and more work retire and then die! US employers don't want happy, healthy employees they want robots to fatten their bank accounts
why do i always get so proud of my country (finland) when i read something about it in bp or see someone in my favorite show meantoning the word "finland"?
Dawn said that when you start looking for your next job, be sure your profile is up to date and reflects the job you are looking for. “It’s essential your Headline and About section shout out the skills and experience that matches the job. Be sure to add relevant keywords to the About Section and recruiters will find you in searches.”
wait, that's $5.75/hr take home. if this guy lives in America, given the standard tax rates for federal and state , he was only making maybe $8/hr gross? As Steve Miller once said "go on, take the money and run, oo oo ooh"
I got fired for being overpaid and not giving it back. I said, if your job is to pay me, and you do your job wrong, how is that my fault?
Your work is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it, they say ^^
That is roughly $5.75/hr. That is less than a waitress makes and that usually hasn't changed even since before I was a baby. I am glad he made himself scarce, whatever the job is/was, needs to ante up the pay rate.
I wish I had had this formula when I was working my job. They expected me to arrive on time in the am but to stay until all the checks were done in the evening ... always after everyone else was able to go home ... sometimes until 2am the next morning ... especially if it was "dividend paying time" & I would have to drive to the post office in Crown Pointe with over USD$2.5M worth of checks in my possession with no backup ... sometimes riding on MARTA ... & then to the PO ... & then home ... which was 37-miles one way ... & if it was raining because of Atlanta's hellish traffic ... I'd get home about the time I'd have to turn around & head back into the f_____g office. When I asked for help/assistance/an assistant they looked at me like I was crazy. I retired suddenly because of a horrific traffic accident & it took "them" 3 months to sort out my desk's responsibilities which "they" finally split into three separate departments. I still have nightmares about being confined there.
woohoo, the guideline is to only give 2% craps on friday this is why schools *should* follow the unwritten rule not to give students homework on fridays

Load More Replies...I'm a 16 year old AV (Audio Visual) student. A group that helps adults with special needs and learning disabilities adjust to life after high school has a performing arts program that came to my school to show a film they'd put together. I was instantly drawn to the program and now I'm helping out by making a woman's vision come to life through a stop motion film. The script she wrote is absolutely beautiful and heartwarming. No one should ever be underestimated and I mean that quite honestly. People are people no matter what they've been through or what they're going through or what they deal with. EQUALITY IS ALWAYS AWESOME (unless you discriminate against people for things like sexual orientation, gender, race, etc- then you don't get to be equal to all the awesome people)
No one drawing their last breath ever said "Gee, I wish I'd worked more hours".
Reduced to the maximum allowable $300k. So even when a court of justice decides otherwise, our society still won't allow disabled people to prosper TOO much. Because, y'know, their disability is ultimately their own moral failing and they deserve it./s
It would have been reduced for anyone because that was all the Federal Court allowed. That is what sucked. The Federal law needs to change for everyone.
Load More Replies...The award was adjusted to $300,000 but the woman was also recently rehired to her old shift.
Networking is another important strategy when getting into the job market. But since LinkedIn is a great place to network, you have to be careful about what content you engage in or share there. “Make sure every interaction on the platform is professional, relevant to your discipline and sector, and showcases your expertise and knowledge. Make sure you are networking with relevant people,” Dawn said.
The career coach also said to “avoid randomly liking and sharing posts that don’t align with your purpose. If you are looking for a job, then 80% of what you post and comment should be aligned to that goal,” she explained.
Amen to that, dude! I loved that I was always an hourly worker rather than salaried.
Hourly workers are also expected to work off the clock. If you don't, well it's a "right to hire, right to fire" state (Tennessee), which means they don't need a reason at all to fire you.
Load More Replies...I hate to say this, but for some people work is all they have. I knew a few people that wanted to get married, have kids etc, but that never happened. But people need a purpose in life, so they bury themselves in their work. I'd say if you know someone that does that, see what else is lacking in their life and if there's anything you can do for them.
Then again, some of us like to work and find that people like us end up being the leader, making a helluva lot more money. Go ahead and put forth a mediocre performance and see how far that gets you.
Unfortunately some employers cant find folks to work so they have to put up with mediocre employees and give in to all their demands just so they have the staff.. but they arent the ones moving up in the company, the hard workers are.
Load More Replies...Nursing home staff. Sadly, their will and desire to make the lives of their residents better will be exploited until they break down, feeling like s**t on top of it for leaving their residents alone in understaffed and underfunded homes. Germany here.
I seriously had to explain to my neighbor that regardless of being salary, ANY employer that expects you to work a 20hr day because it's "tax" season is unethical and that she was contributing to the workplace abuse by doing it. A good employer would hire sufficient staff and STILL make a nice profit. This employer is a robber-baron.
It took a mild lecture on workplace scheduling to my co-workers to get them to stop. If you are working extra, for free, the business has no factual data on how much time or labor it really takes to get jobs done. This means the company is going to expect all the employees to continue to produce as much as they do when some people are doing work off the clock. You may not care but it's not fair to other people who maybe judged a poorer performer since they won't work off the clock.
Like it or not, that's not the overworker's problem, though.
Load More Replies...I enjoy my job and often work through lunch break. I always leave on time or early though.
Sorry man but I'm guilty of that for years, But then my boss cured me of that by being an a*****e.
I ain't tryin to take my breaks when I can eat standing in the hallway and get paid for it.
Not really. It's just a choice. If they found something they really like, why stop them. I don't take my lunches, ever. And leave, early. My boss is cool with it. He would rather have a crew that does this, than people b*tching about who's first or why they have to be.
Probably the same kid who asked grandpa to make a noise like a frog cause “daddy said we’re going to Disneyland when you croak.”
That would not have been a problem for me. My husband was a Ringling clown. :-)
i always dreamed somebody do that or at least i witness it being done
Head of HR that was retiring gave his consent for a manager to sign off on a grievance. The manager was always a PITA to his employees and his bosses. He signed off on a settlement that awarded 50 employees over $2 million. That manager was reassigned to a job where he sat in a 8×12 office with no human interaction. It was a government agency so the didn't fire him
I walked out of one of my management jobs. Wish I had thought to do this before I left.
If you’re new to Linkedin, Dawn has some tips. “LinkedIn is more than a digital CV and it’s not a great idea to simply copy and paste the same information across.”Moreover, “it’s also the most professional social media platform and is not a place to post complaints or rant negatively. That doesn’t mean you have to be positive all the time but it must be presented professionally,” Dawn said.
The career coach also noted that it’s not just your 1st line contacts that can see your posts and comments and that's what makes it a great platform for networking. “It's wise to be on your best behavior, as your future manager can see everything you write and share,” she concluded.
I did and yet it was the last straw. Just because they aren't screaming it can be still verbal abuse, learned that lesson!
Load More Replies...Beautifully worded. Something I've learned to add to this? Consider making this an email, and CC'ing thier boss and the board of the company. MAKE them have the uncomfortable conversations about why this type of behaviour is condoned.
I’m doing that if I’m ever unfortunate to have that fate
Load More Replies...I got yelled at for calling 911 and turning in a suspicious backpack left in the parking space specifically reserved for the Police Department. The jerk called me out in front of the main entrance. When the a*****e manager was finished, I said, “Let me get this straight. You made me sit through hours of training videos, and now you are telling me to ignore the training?” He says, “That was never part of your training.” I proceeded to quote page and verse from my notes. Then I said, “I am too old and to tired to put up with a manager like you. I speak to you with respect and I expect the same from you.” He stood there with his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water, his face a shade of purple. He stomped off to his office. I was off work shortly thereafter so I went home. Monday rolled around, and as I had not received a phone call firing me, I went to work. He had been let go on Sunday. I don’t know why, and I don’t care.
I have had managers that cared about me and ones that didn't, ones that got mad at me and ones that taught me how to do better, one that was stealing from customers and who fired me when I noticed an irregularity and asked about it, and even one that used to show me the Brazilian Ju Jitsu moves that he learned to me (not in a good way). But I have never, ever, had anyone yell at me at work!
pros: I don't have to go back... cons: I'm human and that means I need to eat.
Load More Replies...If you can afford to leave, do so. If you can’t, invest in yourself and start looking for something new as well as is possible! Don’t stay in a place that makes you feel like 💩
This was me! I did not quit, I pointed out the new job was significantly different than my old job which had now disappeared and asked for and received a redundancy. 9 months wages to leave? Sure. The look on their faces as I walked out the door? No idea, I was not looking back!
I am convinced that a major job requirement for a manager is to be stupid.
Meanwhile, can't even get 6 weeks for maternity leave in the states 🙃
Geez, I got 3 months off for my maternity leave and I live in the US

My response is the same - I've turned up to do the job I'm contracted to do and at 5 I'm going home
This isn't to contribute to the whole 'dream job' nonsense, but something that it took me DECADES to learn was that 40 hours a week is too many to be unhappy. I now wish that I hadn't stayed so long at places that made me sad it was a weekday.
Load More Replies...I always say “morning” because I once had a grumpy coworker who would always mutter “what’s good about it?” in return.

I despise it when they they say, "Living the dream". Whose dream MFer?
That's why Apple installed catch nets at one of their factories in China.
"Living the dream" I despise that saying. Who's dream? So fake. Maybe someone's anxiety ridden nightmare.
I always feel sad for people who let their work define them…glad to read there are still some who don’t!
I was always against the "work yourself to death and let your relationships suffer" mindset. It was created by people wanting to exploit others. Glad to see things changing. It's very refreshing.
Tho I do feel we should be working to bring the average work week to nothing more than 40 hours a week! Period! I do believe people should actually be in the office. Now if it's possible to set it up where you can work a day or two from home, that's awesome, but to strictly be a remote worker, I just don't think that's efficient over time.
Yes. I've been doing this for years while people thought I was crazy. But I'm very good at what I do. It is about setting expectations. Giving and getting respect. Recognizing people are human and make.mistakes (yours and theirs). But the biggest improvement was went I started giving the impression I did not need the job at all. Got to the point that I don't anymore and I credit making them believe that as a major help getting there. People respect you when you respect yourself and show you do not need them (but still respectful). It is a fine balance. I few times I walked away to show it was no bluff even though I couldn't afford it. But you have to respect the other person. Understand that nice is not kind. Too many people use "nice" to abuse you. Take kind or helpful before nice. Nice is a red flag. Worse bosses I have ever seen are nice and spineless and trick people while screwing them over. Oblivious.
And per usual..your parents have to clean up your mess.. Seriously GROW UP

Both systems are flawed and both exploit people for profit. I can't sit here and act like capitalism is better than any other system. I'm personally tired of working to keep rich people rich.
Load More Replies...I caused a commotion this week in a similar icebreaker situation. I have 11 different bosses and none of them are on the same page. I made a reference to how our workplace is like the movie Office Space with middle management. I said if the company really wants to improve the bottom line the redundant manager positions should be eliminated. I’ve since been wrote up but FTW I said what I said and I wasn’t wrong.

Honestly I kind of don't think that people should be able to get loans before their brains fully developed (around 25) or they should at least get a disability discount.. I mean you're not using your full brain that's got to be a disability
That's actually what the old Dutch system when I was a student did. We got 0% interest student loans and you had 15 years to pay them off, dependent on your income. If after 15 years you weren't able to pay off in full (and again, based on what you were earning) they usually forgave the rest.
Load More Replies...Truth: big student loans are a bad wager and a terrible idea. It's crazy we even offer 19 year olds gigantic loans, usually before they've had any experience managing their own expenses, against a hypothetical job 4+ years in the future that may or may not even exist, and which will pay an amount not even experts can estimate. There is literally no way to make meaningful plans with so many unknown variables. Also, here's the problem with the whole "object lesson" idea: **For the kids who screw up the worst** it's basically "financial capital punishment" - no amount of determination or effort on their parts can free them of the financial anchor they will drag the rest of their lives. They get no future chance to apply what they've learned, no second go-round in which to make better choices. A decision made at 19 can eliminate any chance of their EVER participating in the economy in a meaningful way.
Going to trade school and getting a real and lucrative career beats getting a liberal arts degree and remaining unemployed.

Same. I'm transitioning careers and everyone keeps asking what I want to do and my response is "to be independently wealthy."
Load More Replies...The problem with capitalism is banning child labour. If you get children at ten year old to work on something, most of them will definitely keep working on that when grown up. Just teach children manual works (electricist, plumber, car repairing, wood working...) for a couple of hours everyday instead of social worriorness, and they'll be happier and healthier and if not working on that when grown up, at least they'll be able to fix their own house on that matter.
This is true. The average citizen doesn't really need algebra or a crappy history class. Let the nerds do nerd things and teach the kids that aren't interested to turn a wrench and swing a hammer. If they realize they want to be nerds later, they can catch up in community college. Trust me. I've done it

Sometimes you dream jobs don't turn out to be the dream you thought they would be.
Facts. I thought being an airline pilot was my dream job for the longest time. Luckily I ended up meeting a bunch in college and getting a chance to talk to them. They all said they just feel like bus drivers and none actually enjoyed flying anymore.

Now that I'm fully retired & can get up whenever I feel like it & do whatever I want, or nothing at all, during the day, or night, this is what I worked all my life for. I'm living my dream .... I'm living the life I worked all those f*****g hours for & put up with all those f*****g haters ... getting into my art ... discovering my self ... which, when I was working so hard before, I didn't have the time to find out ... it is a glorious time for me ... It is sad though that I couldn't have done this when I was a hell of a lot younger! Just makes me appreciate what & where I am now! Every moment counts. The power of NOW! Yes!
I am always telling different friends that I was out w/ so-and-so on different weekend days/evenings so that I can basically avoid them all without having to confess that I just don't want to do anything. I know I am going to get caught in a lie one of these days and probably soon.

I worked in a call centre many years ago and holiday requests were denied 90% of the time stating the business cant accommodate it. Tough s**t, they're my holiday hours and I'll take them when I NEED TO not when it suits you
At my old job, they weren't called holiday hours. They knew. We got "pto request hours" and that was about it. It's still called that at my current job but surprisingly the requests are approved most of the time.

Ok, it's me doing my best impression of the Devil's advocate: what if you're either, say, a warehouse associate, or in customer support. There are people that need last minute orders taken, or need help with whatever it is, say 24th of December. What then. 😶
Maybe have the option to be on call from home for 8 hours of holiday pay, just in case someone needs help?

Funny how they can pay minimum wages in Europe where they HAVE TO, and still make hefty profits!
Yep! When in reality you start at $12 an hour. If you sacrifice all your time, your unborn child and two drops of blood, then maybe they will contemplate on giving you a raise
This is probably just a tease to get people in the door. I don't even think managers at McDonald's make that much, at least not in the USA.
If you look at the fine print it says "up to" so you know that means starting pay is only around $10/$12 an hour
Load More Replies...The pay looks good on paper but a lot of people forget that it's part time work, sure you'll make $21 a hr but you'll probably only work 20ish hours a week if not less if they take on a 4th shift to "help spread out the work"
Getting minimum wage is your boss saying to you that he'd pay you less if it weren't against the law.

Yup, always did this, used to go stand outside with the smokers (up wind). Most of them were on-board with it too.
Load More Replies...Yep, if a company allows "smoke breaks", they should also allow "fresh air breaks". Sometimes you just gotta get outside for a few minutes and breathe.
I'm a smoker and I really never understood the difference between "regular breaks and smoke breaks" a breaks a break and everyone should be getting the same amount imo.
I started smoking for the breaks. Also, the soul crushing stress, but mostly the breaks. I quit the smoking but still take the breaks. Probably permanent damage to both my soul and lungs but I'm recovering
I'm a student & got a summer job (1 month) and I swear, every half hour you'd see the same people outside for 15 minutes. They barely work but the SECOND I get away from my desk to go to the bathroom or have a 5 min break, I get yelled at by my supervisor (who, of course, is one of those smokers).
Its true. I tell people who i train to tell the boss you smoke/vape so you get rotated in for the 5 min breaks. Everyone needs breaks not just the smokers!
I've taken smoke breaks. Never smoked. If others can get ample time on the clock while not working, I should too.
Not in any job I had while I was a smoker. Two or three chain smoked before work on the drive to work, one and a half in the mid morning and afternoon breaks, and two or three over lunch, three in quick succession on the drive home. Who the heck gives people multiple smoke breaks? Been a non smoker for 8 years, yay me.
Karen: *tells all her friends to boycott the company* HA! NOW YOU’VE LOST… uh… still 1 customer…
This needs to be more true (in more places). In corp restaurants, for example, mgmt makes the staff bend over backward to cater to the stupidest complaints. The fear of the 1-star review manufactures monsters.
During my years in retail I had more than one terrible person declare that they would never be back. Sadly most of them broke that promise within a week.
Whereas for a small company, complaints with bad reviews can do real damage. Especially when the review contains lies or embellishments, just to get what the customer wants. Usually they are being unreasonable and don't realise the damage they do and the risk to people's jobs by damaging business
Maintaining mental health can be an emergency. Having a mental health day when needed is a preventative measure we need to stop feeling guilty about
The emergency is I’m losing my sanity, my mental health, my self
My last pregnancy almost passed out at work. Punk assistant manager did not belive it was an emergency, thankfully she was not there when it happened so I was able to go home and head to the ER. Turns out my potassium had dropped pretty low and had to get some Iv fluids....she never did believe me. Of course she never believed that my appendicitis nearly killed me either despite medicle records stating otherwise.
I work in mental health and its ok for clients to have meltdowns but employees are expected to hold it together and not need mental health days. Wooo-sah (taking slow deep breaths)
"Your management sucks. This is an unnecessary amount of struggle and effort and it's an emergency that I distance myself from it."
I was in awe of my co-worker last week. He helped me at the customer service point and outright told a guy that if he continued talking to down to him like he was an idiot that he'd refuse to assist him any further. Normally I just nod politely whilst they berate me for ten minutes for something that wasn't my fault.
It's really fun to be super-duper polite to the biggest assholes: they know you're f***ing with them, but they can't do s**t about it.
I like to remind myself that I’m kind to people because it makes me a better person and that kindness is its own reward.
Also I'd hate to die at work. My poor co-workers would have to watch them haul my carcass out of there on a stretcher. And for years to come people would be like "ooh, did you know someone DIED in that office? In that very chair, actually. What? No of course we haven't removed it. It's way too comfy."

No, I was completely serious, my dad had died just an hour earlier. He was only 59. Really got to me that he never got the chance to retire and relax.
as an April Fool's joke one year someone drew a chalk outline of a body in front of the receptionist's desk.
Everywhere I've worked has life insurance. They pay double if I died on the clock. I'd rather clock out for the last time at work.
A dear friend had a massive heart attack in the factory I used to work at and passed away a short while later. I decided in his honour to get out of there and get a job I actually liked.
My first duty at Ronler Acres Intel, was boxing up the personal effects of a man who had died at his desk. His family didn’t miss him over the weekend because he was salaried, and they never saw him most of the time. 90 to 120 hours a week he worked. They call Intel the Prozac Club. F**k that.
When I started my job, the person that would have been my office mate died the day before. Talk about awkward. People were coming by for weeks memorializing her desk, and my entire department was sad. All of her belongings were still there, it was creepy.

If I died at work, they would lose business due to lack of confidence.... I work in a surgical clinic attached to a major hospital.
A woman at work (I worked in hospital setting) got sick at work, was taken to our ER where she was diagnosed with acute bronchial pneumonia. Admitted to the floor, where her condition got worse and worse. Management went to go see her in the context of “How ya doing, when are ya coming back?” and to recover passwords. Poor sweetheart…she never recovered. Spent 19.5 years with the hospital system and died there. Met her two mid-teenage daughters at her funeral. All Corporate sent was a note if condolences, a plant and eventually a bill for her hospital stay. Their Guardians told Corporate to pound sand. IT came in to recover her passwords, but failed. Management never recovered her passwords. She never got to enjoy her retirement. That is very sad.

The collapse of oil will bring on an economic crash, the world will be forced into a recession. And again, no one is talking about it.

It should be changed again because the world and people have changed. It is depressing how much we are ahead and advanced yet the rules and laws are from the stone age.
To me it feels horribly long. Had my hours cut to 4 days, 30 hours during the pandemic, and I felt soo much better. Also, its a modern concept, largely due due to the industrial revolution. Nobody ever seems to talk about what work life was before then. Still not ideal, but from my readings people had way more flexibility and time off: "Do Nothing" by Celeste Headlee.
And capitalism destroyed it. 40 hour work weeks are now 60-70 hours even in union jobs.

Load More Replies...omg, this reminds me of 2 months ago when i let my 7 yr old cousin cut my hair.she totally butchered it. forgot about it the next day and wondered why people at the store were staring at me.
How old were you when you realized being an adult sucks? It really hit me at about 23, after college. I had to work, pay for my own s**t, and realizing I'm not making enough to pay for anything!
I realized it at about 12. Hit harder when I heard this: A fourth grader at my school got expelled for having a mental breakdown and screaming at the class. Said fourth grader was allowed to leave the class when things got noisy, I'm guessing she couldn't handle it, but the sub wouldn't let her. A kindergartener has repeatedly thrown entire desks at his classmates though, and he is still in this school as I type. Higher ups suck a*s.
Load More Replies...Can't imagine waking up at noon on a free day. 5pm is about the time I'm waking up. Then I *can* answer that question but don't want to.
I'm the one who doesn't know what I'm doing most of the time. Give me clear instructions and show me and I can get the work done.
Same, I HATE nonspecific instructions. If I don’t get some, I’d just ask the person in charge and if they don’t like it, give me better instructions.
Load More Replies...My guess is that if period keep not showing up at a workplace, there probably a good reason. Sh*tty pay and no benefits, horrible bosses, soul sucking work, no future etc

Fast Paced is another word for poor managerial planning and constantly putting out fires...
That looks just like my office. Thankfully I've been full time WFH since the pandemic started.
He is one of the people on here complaining about his 40 hour 9 to 5:00 job
There is no labor shortage in the US, despite what companies asking for your patience may say. There's a shortage of people willing to put up with the s**t that these companies are dealing out anymore. It's not that you can't find someone to work for you, it's that you can't find someone who's willing to work in a toxic environment that pays minimum wage but requires a bachelor's degree.
a fast food place in town was having trouble staffing up after the covid ended. They could not stay open for their full normal weekly schedule. The owner put up a sign on the front locked door that said, "People these days just don't want to work anymore. The people I hire do not stay. What is wrong with young people these days?" Someone taped up a poster on the window next to the door, "No, we want to work. We do not want to work for minimum wage, part-time, with no benefits or retirement, with an irregular mixed days and nights schedule that you change without notice every two weeks. Get it?" Another smaller poster said, "When you disrespect us with this sort of treatment, you will get people who are desparate for any job to work for you like this. You have no right to complain when they disrepect you and disappear the moment their real job finally comes in".
This post is really confusing. Is the title wrong or something? Most of these aren't memes or even funny.
No i am just as confused by this.. i mean the first "Meme".. That's nothing to laugh at, she went from Custodian to Freaking Surgical Nurse, if anything that's an achievement to be celebrated not laughed at..

But that doesn't change the fact that the slave force I'm this world needs to change and will only change when we demand change and stick to those demands! That dinosaur 2 week notice!!! I'm literally using that Monday morning ☺️☺️☺️💯🖨️
How is this a funny article? The title says funny memes for when you can’t laugh and it’s about how dreadful life is..
