I get paid the same amount as my male colleagues doing the same job. Am I just lucky?

I worked in a field where male and female were paid the same hourly wage, but men were far more likely to be promoted (thus, higher pay).

The pay gap is a myth. Women are paid less over the course of their careers due to several factors - leaving the workforce to bear children, being less aggressive, not asking for raises, not asking for a high enough initial salary during the interview process, not asking for promotions... If women were so cheap, workplaces would be full of women - it would be a good business practice to help the bottom line. Women are trained from a young age to be gentle, meek, and quiet and that's not how you get ahead on the career ladder. Ps - I work in a male dominated tech field and make a very competitive salary. I'm also gearing up for paid parental leave (because I wouldn't work at a company that didn't have it). I have gotten two promotions in 3 years, and 3 raises in addition to my yearly percentage raise. Standards, ladies. Get some. You're worth more thank you think, so ask for it. Ask for way more than you're worth and know they will negotiate downward from there.

Instead of asking for disadvantage for men rather challenge the dark sides of capitalism. But wait, that requires stepping out of the comfort zone...

Great thing about being a public employee, all of our salaries are posted online as public information. I know everyone the same level as me gets paid the exact same amount as me.

The wage gap is over a lifetime, not necessarily an hourly basis. Women have to take time off to have children and are more likely to then take time off to care for the children and their elderly relatives. Also, they are shut out of male dominated fields, like IT.

We have a discussion here in my country to pay social jobs higher for making even men doig them. That is what makes me really angry.

This whole wage gap caused by choices? I believe that causes most of the gap, which means WOMEN NEED BETTER CHOICES! They need access to daycare, they need husbands who actually do half the household work, they need the "feminized" jobs to gain status, they need society to get their s**t together and limit them then to "polite" or "b***h". Society needs an overhaul!

Yeah - women don't get paid less than men. If they did, every company would 100% women. Women make less over the course of their lifetimes for a variety of reasons- leaving the workforce to have children, being less aggressive for starting salary/raises, being less aggressive for more responsibility, or taking more responsibility but not getting paid for it....just to name a few. Know what you're worth and always ask for 20% over so when the inevitably negotiate you downward, you end up where you want to be. And stop being a victim - that helps too.

At my last job, I got paid less than the males who came into my field of work after me. As a matter of fact, I recommended them for the vacant position. When they told me how much they were paid, I was livid. Turns out, the HR director is an a*****e and doesn't believe that women work harder than men. I earned my way to where I was and was asked to join the department I was in by the head of that department. To be shorted after all my hard work and dedication, there was no other choice but to leave as soon as anything decent came along. I was lucky to have been presented the opportunity to work for my current employer. I had no problem shutting down the HR director when he offered to match anything I was being offered to keep me on board.

I've never in my life (I'm 70) been paid less than a man doing the same job. Not once.

It is illegal to pay someone less for the same amount of work because of their gender. Why is this lie still alive when it has been debunked so many times by financial analysts and real statistics. I don't believe it.

This is a result of one of the many lies that the MSM has been spreading for many years..i have been working for almost the past 30yrs..and have NEVER seen a female colleague working in the same position making less than me...ever!!

the pay gap is now a different type of gap, it's more a gap between excelling in careers and being favoured over your female co-workers for a promotion or by a client.

I hate the pads commercials. All the happy girls in FREAKIN' WHITE JEANS!!!! NO! I wear all black when I am on my period and still freak out that there will be a stain somewhere. And most of the time I want to curl in my bed and die basically.

If men want to stop abortions they should stop having unprotected sex, women can orgasm over and over and over and there are no unwanted babies created. It's women's bodies at stake but it's men's pride causing the problem. If men had to deal with the consequences of unwanted births this debate wouldn't be one
