Proof positive that GPAs are NOT the be all and end all of a person's intelligence and dedication.

We need more Individualized Education Programs, particularly in public, Christian & Montessori schools. So we can teach to abilities & interests in the myriad ways people learn. Maybe less from the structure of traditional Country Day and more toward Steiner. Common Core is a travesty.

GPA's are a measure of how well the school can teach a particular student not how smart they are. Fight me.

In 2nd grade a teacher told my husband & I our son was too emotional ( she would make him cry then stand in the hallway until he stopped). BTW Kindergarten & 1st grade teachers said he was sympahtic to other kids & made friends with everyone. ANYWAY she said in a meeting he would never amount to anything & work a menial job for the rest of his life, I gripped my husbands leg because I thought he might go over the desk at her. We promptly moved out of our rental to a new town & school district. My son now has two college degrees & makes 6 figures. She can suck it, she was just an old terrible teacher that should have retired 5 years before my son had her.

It's great, just - people with bad GPAs shouldn't have to prove that they are 'worthy' Even a really low intelligence person is worth respect and deserves love. (Similar with immigrants - an immigrant shouldn't have to lose an arm in saving someone's life before they are considered 'acceptable').

My best friend from college had been laughed at by her special ed teacher when she said she wanted to be a teacher. She told her she couldn't even get into college. Did I mention she was my best friend from college? I don't think she should have been in special ed at all. I think they put her there because her family's primary language was German and instead of treating her like an ESL student, they treated her like she couldn't learn.

GPAs tell you how well you conform to what your school board WANTS you to learn, doesn't mean it's ALL there is to learn

GPA is more subjective than people wasnt to think. When I was in 1st grade, one of the 2nd grade teachers flunked 1/3 of her class. They all lived on the same street. Some in the projects, yes, but a couple of them down the road from the projects. She wasn't brought back. You'll never convince me that these 10 or whatever kids were all too slow to move on. They had an address she didn't like, and that's it.

lucky, i spent 11 years in LD, learning disabled [what they called it before special ed], was not allowed to take math and science classes in high school and never graduated. fast forward; i got three degrees [2 science, 1 math] and worked for LANL, NCAR and NASA

As a teacher, I knew that the purpose of a grade is to tell a student how well he appears to be doing in a class at a given point in time. It is momentary information for the student, not a label for life.

4.0 is the desirable "perfect" GPA, though people can get higher than that through extra credit. 1.8 is a bad GPA.

We all know that the internet is full of heartbreaking news headlines and negativity from individuals who never want to hear beliefs that oppose their own. And while it’s important to stay up to date with current events, you should never forget the importance of positivity too. In fact, taking in some wholesome content might even be beneficial for your health!

According to Think with Google, viewing some feel-good content can release dopamine and provide you with more motivation, satisfaction and pleasure. Plus, we need dopamine to help our memories, get better quality sleep and allow us to be able to concentrate. In fact, even advertisers know the importance of spreading positive vibes to customers.

“I do a lot of research on consumer mood and emotion. In television advertising in particular, for the most part, 90-95% is still positive, upbeat advertising,” Nancy Puccinelli, a professor of marketing at the University of Bath, told Think with Google. “The basic premise is that if the ad makes people feel good, their attitudes towards nearly anything you show them will go up considerably. And there’s also a significant knock on effect on behavior - all other things being equal, if a brand makes me feel good, I’m going to be inclined to buy that brand.”

While the word “wholesome” hasn’t always had a positive connotation, the New York Times published a piece last year explaining how the term has become a compliment for Gen Z. Prior to about 2018, “wholesomeness” was often linked to conservative and traditional values. In recent years, however, it’s been reclaimed to describe anything that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. “I think it caught on a lot because it’s just a word that sounds cool,” 22-year-old Enzo Luna told the NYT. “It’s such a strong and simple word.”

Wholesome memes have flooded the internet over the past few years, and they might have come about in direct opposition to the sarcastic memes millennials used to share in the early 2010s. Those pics were often “coated with dark humor and doused in irony,” the NYT explains, but these wholesome memes are simple and uplifting. “Sometimes those ironic and satirical memes are too heavy-handed, and they go into things that, at a certain point, it’s not really a joke anymore,” Luna shared, noting that he often prefers a sweet cat video instead.

And of course, if you love wholesome memes, you'll likely love plenty of other wholesome things as well. Gen Zers in particular seem to love following wholesome celebrities online, such as Harry Styles, taking up wholesome pastimes, like playing board games or crocheting, and adopting wholesome lifestyles, where they go to bed early and prioritize their mental and physical health. Being wholesome doesn’t have to only take place online, and plenty of people are embracing it in the real world!

Mashable even detailed how wholesome memes can not only be uplifting, but also subversive. For example, sharing compassionate and empathetic memes can actually start to change the way that we interact with others online. You might be reminded to take care of yourself or drink more water after seeing a wholesome meme that tells you to do so, and you may call your mom to tell her you love her after seeing an adorable screenshot of someone’s conversation with their own parent. Taking part in this wholesome activity online can bring even more sunshine into your real life.

I do this on the glass door of our shower. I wake early and write little "I Love You" and a face with the bar of soap. You can't see it until the shower steams up. My wife calls it her little "Shower Ghost" and she loves it!
