My understanding is that since the parents complain, it's not allowed. But if you got a whole school of parents who agree and support it, would the school still be banned from teaching it? So it's got f--- all to do with "Parental Rights" and everything to do with "Bigots in Charge".

Sex ed in elementary school, the years that early girls start getting their periods. How horrifying it must be using the bathroom one day and finding your underwear soaked in blood for no apparent reason along with excruciating stomach pains. That and living in a hyper-religious home has to border on mental abuse I'm sure.

It sucks. I was an early bloomer so my mom thought she had more time to prepare before telling me how periods work. Luckily I had read a book from the school library not long before that gave me a vague idea of what was happening and the school nurse filled in the rest. I'm hoping you're being sarcastic, because a lack of those conversations and no sex ed in school gives you what we have where I live now. Deeply religious and conservative Midwest state in the US. Teen pregnancy rates that top the US since they DON'T learn how not to have babies. Sky high teen suicide rates because of pregnancy and lack of any real mental health support. My daughter is 19. She's already had 10 people she went to school with kill themselves that didn't see any other options. Others have died from a lack of communication about drugs and alcohol.
