Human emotions are a funny thing; you might be feeling ecstatic one moment and become completely devastated the next. If you've ever related to that Pedro Pascal meme where his laughing face changes to a crying face in a second, you're in the right place.

The Internet has been in an interesting collective state in the past few years. We know the world is in a pretty bad place, but all most of us can do is laugh and meme about it. The "Funny and Sad" community reflects this sentiment pretty well, and here we have the newest selection from them for you to feel happy, sad, and confused by.

I'm not a fan (of any politician really), but AOC is sure as hell right about this one for damn sure. Besides, who the hell cares what this person does in her free time. The fact that she's a paramedic makes her a HERO.

She wasnt an EMT, Senior Care pays pretty well and I know people who work for them. She was a ambulance driver with no medical certifications, but going through the training courses. Senior care has a program that people can drive the ambulances and observe the actual EMT's while being trained at EMT's. That is why this was misleading. her $18/hour was just for driving until she got her certifcation the company was also paying for

My husband is an EMT paramedic level and if they don't work for a municipal fire department, they make very little money. Working for private ambulance service or transport they make only a dollar or 2 over minimum wage. When we were first married, I was a low level supervisor in a call center and made significantly more money. It's depressing

So what? In the late 90's to early 00's, I worked as a nu*e/p*rn model. First for things like camera clubs and art groups and then for adult magazines. In fact, probably most of the top-shelf UK gay magazines from that time have pictures of me in them. I have no regrets about doing it and it allowed me to leave university with far fewer debts and to be able to afford my own flat off-campus. If onlyfans was a thing while I was modelling, I would absolutely use it.

I don't see the necessity of paying for po.orn, it's free. But by paying medics and teachers so poorly, if this is how they raise the needed money to survive, then STFU!

Because many people are, to be blunt, stupid. And I don't mean ignorant, confused, misinformed...although they might be those things as well. I mean *stupid*. They don't grasp basic logic, or understand how systems work. They only understand simple cause and effect, black and white thinking, etc. Billionaire = smart, immigrant = bad. That's about as complex as they can get.

Populism, a political approach that strives to appeal to ordinary people who feel that their concerns are disregarded by established elite groups. You are right, they can't see it. They aren't smart enough. They are also misinformed of course. The same type of people support Farage in the UK and were recently praising Musk for informing us of something we already knew about.

We might think that crying and laughter are two very different emotions. But this list is hardly about crying from laughter, is it? It's more about things that make us feel so desperate and helpless that we feel that all we can do is cry. Sometimes, we use laughter and humor to deflect so that we don't feel as much empathy.

As psychoanalyst and author of To Heal a Wounded Heart Pilar Jennings explains, sometimes laughter is the body's way of saying "I can't deal with this." If we allow ourselves to empathize with the person or the problem on a deeper level, we might open ourselves up to the same emotion. Thus, humor acts like a protective shield.

Actually this isn't a bad idea, and I say this as a man with 2 brothers who have 4 and 5 kids respectively and can't pay child support and live off of basically nothing. Vasectomy is reversible, too, anyway. If you can't afford to have these kids, then just get your sack tapped

While things may have changed, when I got mine in 1999, the doc said it was reversible for a while, but the chances of doing so successfully would decrease between 10 and 20 years after the procedure. So... as the meme says, we'll yes, but actually (maybe) no(t depending on time).

The thing Ted Cruz is WAY TOO STUPID to understand is that the bill was **not a serious proposal**. It was a deliberate provocation by Rep. Rolanda Hollis in response to the Abortion Ban passed by the state. It was a protest coordinated with the ACLU to underline the absurdity of the government intervening in reproductive choices.

Seriously, Cruz is as stupid as he is spineless. If I was him in 2016, and Donald Trump suggested that my father killed JFK and called my wife ugly, I would have Will Smithed right in the midfle of the debate. It might have ended my presidential run, but it would have ended Trump's, too. And as a Republican from Texas, there's 0% chance that act costs him his senate seat.

Minimun wage in my country is about $300, a vasectomy is about $400, so instead of mandatory vasectomies maybe fund free or cheap vasectomies. Men are typically the default subjects in medical research, creating standards that may not accurately apply to women. This focus on men can lead to overdiagnosis and overtreatment in men while underdiagnosing and undertreating women.Feb 22, 2024 https://www.qualityinteractions.com

    The Wage Gap Has Been

Tweet humorously addresses wage gap by comparing job titles with gender labels, sparking both laughter and despair.

Lots of people being unjustly downvoted, let's bring the receipts. [A] In 2009 the U.S. Department of Labor Study published a comprehensive review of over 50 peer-reviewed papers, finding that the commonly cited "23-cent wage gap" is largely explained by individual choices made by both genders. [B] The American Association of University Women (AAUW) in 2012 financed a study named "Graduating to a Pay Gap" with the objective of fighting that finding, only to discover that 1) the actual overall wage difference is about 6 cents on the dollar, not 23, and 2) that difference disappears when personal choices are taken off the calculation. [C] The Bureau of Labor Statistics looked into the matter in 2017, and found that 1) men daily worked hours were on average 11% more than women, and 2) in high risk, high paying professions 97% of the jobs were taken by men, greatly pushing up the statistics. I again feel the need to preface this by saying, i have loathed trump for 30 years. Terrible human being, terrible president who wants to do terrible things. However between 2020 and 2024....the number of black people voting for trump increased from 8% to 16%, Hispanics from 32% to 45%, Asians from 34% to 38% other racial demographics from 41% to 54%....and among young people from 41% to 53%. Turnout among white voters however dropped from 58% to 55%. Democrats might want to investigate the underlying cause of that shift. Maybe want to consider the fact that yes, most people, even within his own party loathe trump....just not as much as they hate the tired song and dance that the dems have been doubling down on, over and over again for the past 15 years.

People also laugh when they're anxious or uncomfortable. Researchers speculate that it's how we relax in stressful situations, similar to laughter's function when we see something funny. Margaret Clark, professor of psychology at Yale University and co-author of the study "Dimorphous Expressions of Positive Emotion", also hypothesizes that it's how we let other people know that we need help to down-regulate our nervousness.

Ok, then, why do you agree to mere cents per hour, and no repercussions for reckless employers risking your life to benefit a tiny bit more? You don't? Then, why aren't you a member to the only sort of institution that ever has effectively opposed such?

The ONLY Non-Union job my Dad worked on was, because my Brother and Uncle were going to be onsite and Dad refused to let them be on that job without him. He traded places with my Brother to drive a Forklift that they KNEW had faulty brakes and a broken safety harness. They threatened to fire my Uncle and Brother if one of them didn't get on that Forklift, so Dad had the most experience and refused to let my Brother or Uncle to drive it, so instead he took their place. He was backing up and couldn't stop, hit a small incline that was leading to a storm drain which caused it to roll back and throw him off the backwards out of his seat and the forklift rolled over him. Those forklifts were HUGE that they used on those sites, since the amount of weight that had to be moved it required Heavy Duty Machinery. My Brother was on the roof of the building that they were working on and saw the whole damn thing.

He was so desperate to get to Dad that 3 men had to tackle him, because he tried to jump off the roof instead of climbing down the scaffolding. My Uncle was on the other side of the building and he told me that he would NEVER forget the sound of my Brother screaming. The accident was at 1 pm and Dad was taken to the hospital where he died in surgery at 4 pm from Massive Head, Chest and Internal Trauma. OSHA gave the company a slap on the wrist and they filed bankruptcy after 2 years and Mom tried to sue them for "Wrongful Death". We were given a tiny amount in Workman's Comp and that was it. My Uncle worked on one other Non-union job years later, the scaffolding collapsed and he almost died. My Brother went back to the Oil Fields for after that and would only work occasional jobs with our other Brother and Uncle. It absolutely infuriates me when I hear people bashing Unions.

It still infuriates me that OSHA only gave the company responsible for my Dad's death a $125 fine and write-up. Apparently, that's all his life was worth to them. The company filed bankruptcy 2 years later, in order to avoid the "Wrongful Death" lawsuit that Mom filed against them for Dad's accident and death. They were able to escape without taking any responsibility for what they did to Dad and our family. Again, UNIONS SAVE LIVES!. My Uncle did 2 Non-Union jobs in his entire career in Construction and Masonry. The first one was when Dad was killed and the second the scaffolding that he was on collapsed, narrowly avoided death and left him Permanently Disabled. That accident ended a decades long career and it took YEARS to finally settle the lawsuit that he filed against them for faulty equipment and unsafe working conditions. Companies like those 2 know that they can get away with that BS, because when money is tight sometimes you have to take jobs whenever you can find work.

Exploitation, is still a HUGE problem and it's only gotten worse, since now you can hire illegal immigrants that don't have the ability to ask or demand safe working conditions. Everyone talks about Illegal Immigrants taking jobs, that's because companies can hire them cheap and get away with putting them into positions that a Union would NEVER allow to happen. They don't have to pay Insurance or fees since the workers are being paid under the table. It's f*****g disgusting and needs to stop. I honestly don't know what the answer is to helping Immigrants, but I do know that someone needs to find a way to step up and give them the same protection that EVERYONE else that works for a Union is allowed to have in order to be safe and treated FAIRLY.

I graduated with honors and couldn't use my degree, because of course, you need experience to get the job, and how am I supposed to get that experience unless I was hired?

Aroesti seeks to answer the question "Why is millennial humor so weird?" and suggests that it reflects the sentiments of many young people that the world just doesn't make sense anymore. In 2017, The Washington Post offered another reason: we're becoming more rootless with the delay of marriage, kids, and home ownership, and disillusion with religion, so all that gets reflected in the comedy and the content online that we consume.

Followed by, "If you want to read a book, you can just buy it!" I probably read $2,000" worth of books from my library each year. I can't even imagine not having access to books. Reading has saved my life time and again. It's the one place where I can find my reflection. I can't say I would kill myself without books, but I would be on the verge. Books have brought me out of depression too many times, esp. when I can't afford psychiatrists and the litany of medications to fix it. The last time I saw a psych, she twisted one statement and suddenly all my problems stemmed from my dad wanting a boy (even though he got one 5 years later and treated us no differently). That day, I stopped by the library and spent the rest of the day crying as I read. I had to have books!

One of my favourite misappropriated quotes, “the son doth shine on the righteous”. People very often forget (or are not aware) that the next part says “and the unrighteous”. It means do not be proud, and look down on others. And it’s part of the famous ‘love your enemies’, as in, be kind to everyone (don’t spread hate). Which is the total opposite message of what people are generally promoting when they use the first part of that quote. The holier than thou brigade. This is a good post!

TBH, it might not be as wild as you think, but is an illustration of what religion has become these days. I’m not religious myself, but if I was, I would fervently believe that Satan has infiltrated the church and is the biggest influence on supposedly religious people today, considering how they tend to behave in such unchristian ways. Maybe that’s an idea that should be put forth to scare the s**t out of the hypocrites.

The great thing about the Bible is that's it's really long and uses really antiquated and dense language. This means if you're a con artist, you can make it mean whatever you want it to mean and people will believe you because most of them don't have the education necessary to actually read it critically.

I'm Christian (a liberal Catholic), but I approve. Anyone who tries to turn a religion that promotes love into hate needs to be called out. And yes, I'm aware of the atrocities that have been committed over the centuries, but that was by people who were not truly religious, just power-hungry. I'm holding out for better times.

Not really. Replacement levels are actually about the population staying the same size. The problem with all social safety nets (and please keep in mind I actually AM a socialist and am strongly in favor of these safety nets), is that they are effectively a Ponze scheme. You use the current generation of laborers' taxes to pay the benefits of the prior generation. If the current generation is smaller than the prior generation, then there will not be enough money to pay the benefits, and you will need to increase taxes or decrease benefits. This problem is already happening in Japan and South Korea. The reason that Europe and North America are spared is because of immigration. Immigrants make up the gap to keep the populations growing. To be clear, I am also in favor of taxing the rich, and because of the benefits of immigration, that is a MUCH bigger priority than increasing the birth rate.

Every one alive is exposed to toxic masculinityand all "kinds" of people. I think you're speaking specifically of "trad wife movement" with its undertones of subservience. Traditional marriage isn't that. And for raising successful children and household for that matter, one of the parents needs to be the Family Manager. There's nothing inherently wrong with traditional marriage, someone needs to work outside the home (just meaning they get paid from funds not already in the family) and someone needs to work inside the home, it can be any/either parent/partner but it might be a good idea to remind yourself why it became a tradition, it did so bc it's successful. You don't see it so much now bc people can't afford it. People get divorced more now for the same reason, money. Number one reason. If you fix the financial disparity, you'll have less divorce and more babies.

Doesn’t include prenatal care, the newborns care, raising the child, nor even the epidural. Can’t imagine why people forced to earn low wages aren’t having a baby! .. said nobody sane, ever.

I trust the police. I don't panic when I get pulled over. But then again, I'm a slightly older than middle aged white guy who lives in a nice area, so you know, the police love me. (I actually was pulled over, last year and it went very well, and I look back on it and think how different it could have been if I weren't white. I know I'm privileged. I know I get better treatment. I know it's unfair.)

I was once detained by the police for flying a balsa wood rubber-band powered airplane in a public park with my 4 year old son. Being Latino in the USA is no fun. They told me that powered model airplanes are illegal to fly in that area, and they confiscated the plane after holding us for 3 hours, with me in cuffs in the back of the car, and my son sitting on the curb crying. When I got home I looked up the rules for that park and learned that there is indeed no such rule about model planes being flown there. And in fact the park hosts a RC plane competition every year. They just wanted to f**k with me. So no I don't trust cops.

I met a decent couple of them last week, when I got pulled over for ‘driving suspiciously’ (I was, admittedly, driving in circles for a while because I was trying to find a friend of mine who got lost). They did a breathalyzer and a d**g test, and went ‘miss, have you taken any amphetamines today?’ and I’m like ‘what? I’ve never ever seen them in real life.’ They believed me and did another one; turned out the first one was a false positive, which was kind of bizarre. And then they waved me on my merry way. Took half an hour in all, but it could have ended very differently in another place and time.

I keep telling Americans that yes in socialized medical decisions there are a panel of bureaucrats deciding which treatments should be payed for and which should not. But this is true of the American system as well. The difference is that in socialized systems, those bureaucrats are composed of medical doctors who are accountable to the voters, and in the US system, they are composed of MBAs who are accountable to the shareholders. Who do you really want running your system?

Choosing to compare teachers salaries to musicians? Really? Granted some singers/rappers/musicians reach a level of fame where they make pretty good money, for 99% of the musicians out there, even earning enough to just get by on music alone is a pipe dream!

I'm going to be the one person who interprets this as meaning 'of all the people in the world, I wish I could pick the specific person TO BE the father/provider' i.e. find the person with all the traits YOU want and they become the father. At the moment, relationships pretty much have to be a mutual thing so you can't just choose.

I would argue that Trump's victory is the bubble bursting. It's just that the people aren't informed enough to realize that he's going to make it worse for them, not better. Imposing tariffs will increase the cost of goods. His tax-cuts from his first term actually RAISED taxes on Americans making less than $400k / year. But his victory is the people looking for a fix, and he gave them an easy scapegoat. We will spend $100 billion dollar deporting immigrants, then he'll find another and another and another. It's the been the hallmark of fascism since the Italians invented it in the 1920s.

This episode came out a few months after a slew of high-profile incidents where police shot young black Americans without justification, so it was very actual and on point. It was just after the Rodney King beating, so it was very much in the zeitgeist. This phrase is a direct reference to the killing of Leonard Bennett, an unarmed 25-years old black man that received five "warning shots" in the back from a pursuing officer.

Look up Eugene V Debs sometime. Arguably one of the most important Americans ever, and totally lost to history. He was a socialist who ran for president six times, including once from prison for protesting America’s involvement in World War I. His radical socialist agenda; 40 hour work weeks, overtime pay, health benefits, sick pay, child labor laws, Social Security, retirement pay, and so on. Ask your average person who talks so negatively about socialism if they would want to live without any of those things today

You're not wrong. Ultimately any label is used to simplify categorization. I've explained to my Gen-Alpha kids that they have far more in common with American boomers, than gen-alpha kids from my own country. And conservative in the US is very different than conservative in Brazil. There I am a conservative leaning member of the Workers Party (we have a multi-party system). Which puts me roughly in a center-left position. I believe in regulation of enterprise and anti-trust laws, but I also see the benefit of a well regulated capitalist system in lifting people out of poverty. But in the United States, I'd be described as a rabid socialist.

Exactly the same way that "the left" uses words like sexist! Racist! Phobic! Bigot! White supremacy! Anytime they're presented with anyone who doesn't agree with them, is critical of them, holds someone responsible for the things they actually say, and actually do...or voices the most shameful thing of all.....self interest over some vague idea of helping the nameless faceless masses that are also prioritizing their own self interest.

I watched a clip of a man who brought bars of chocolate to the people harvesting the beans. The "employers" don't tell them this is big business. They are happy to be working because the bean is useless to them and who's even buying these? He gives a man the chocolate bar 🍫 and this is the first time this man has had chocolate and it was sad to see his face after being told that was what the beans are for. Then another man came to try it and the man who had it legit ran off with it. It was sad and surreal at the same time.

And the real kicker to that (in the US) is that everyone in your company pays the same flat rate for insurance. Let that simmer a moment. The CEO, who makes millions, pays an amount per month for health insurance that equals 20% of your whole monthly salary—-only on the CEO’s salary, that amount is less than the lost change in their sofa or the leftover allowance money in their kid’s piggy bank. Now, if the payment wasn’t a flat rate, but a percentage of total salary, it would be more equitable. Especially if you consider that it would only need to be a small percentage, say 1% or 1/2%, to more than pay the premium for everyone, and those at the lower end of the salary range wouldn’t have such a huge chunk taken out of their already inadequate paychecks. Now, take that concept and apply it to a national health system, where the same percentage of your earnings goes toward making sure everyone in the country can afford to go to the doctor and not be bankrupted by extreme issues like cancer or diabetes, or the need for heart surgery—-or choose to die unnecessarily to keep your family from being bankrupted. Universal Healthcare, aka National Health, doesn’t sound so bad now, does it?

It's a point that illustrates how easy the boomers had it because between 1975 and 1990, you could get Tbonds that paid over 8%, and sometimes as high as 16. This is why the OK Boomer thing started, because they were busy telling people like you that you're a loser for not being as rich as them without considering they got lucky and lived on economic easy mode for most of their careers. And the anger toward them stems from that generation then voting for policies that made them even richer at the expense of you being able to afford a 1br house.

I don't even have a problem with people having a lot of money. I have a problem with them not sharing it and spending it frivolously. If all the super rich spent their money on helping the poor, providing health care, housing, food, education, child care, etc., they would still have the same standard of living, but actually have a reason to feel good about themselves. Hoarding riches is wrong.

The simple math is correct, but the adjusted for inflation/cost of living math is not. $5000 was a ridiculous amount of money in 1492. Earning that *every* day means you'd be making such a stupidly huge amount that you'd be buying massive amounts of property, investing in businesses etc. So you'd be as rich as Bezos by now.

This is a false representation of that Scripture. The "bitter water that brings a curse" was a symbol that the Lord required in the Old Covenant, and certainly not poisonous. He was promising to reveal sin supernaturally through obedience to the law, which was the point of the Old Covenant in the first place. Under the New Covenant, we all have drunk that bitter water and we are all found unfaithful, but Jesus makes a way for us to be loved and accepted and made new. The law is meant to reveal sin as it is, so we can understand and receive Jesus's gift as it is.

I don’t know why you’re being downvoted. I upvoted you to try to cancel a downvote. Anyone who has ever had to tighten their belt in lean times knows the first things you cut are the conveniences; those things you can do yourself a lot cheaper, like make your own dinner instead of takeout, and make your own coffee, and flavor it any way you want, instead of ordering Starbucks. Hell, even buying all the supplies to do it yourself ends up being cheaper, and kind of more convenient (once you’ve got the routine down pat) than having someone else do it for you, in the long run.

I think this depends on where you're buying a house. In 80% of the country, $12,000 is plenty for a down payment. It is not necessary to live in one of the ten biggest cities in the country. Live in a smaller city and you will enjoy better schools, lower crime rates, better air quality, less pollution, lower prices on food and gas, lower taxes, and a slower pace of life.

Yeah....i'm quite tired of seeing this simple minded BS. It's not just the $1200 on coffee that you could make at home for $50 a YEAR. It's the streaming services, and fast fashion, and gadget upgrades, and burning money because people can't be bothered to walk any distance further than to their car. Fast food, delivery services, Uber/lyft rides and buying an endless amount of trash from amazon, temu or shein. It all adds up. And it can be the difference between being able to take a class, and learn a skill, that leads to a better paying job....and continuing to complain about being stuck in a dead end job for the next 30 years of your life. Progress, and growth require sacrifice.

Yeah, it's people like me that have no streaming services and is going to cut off internet to save money, hasn't bought clothes in years, has to live 12 miles from the nearest grocery store and other services to afford a place to live, never has delivery or used Uber, doesn't buy anything from Temu, Shein, or Amazon, can't afford to take a class at the local college or the gas to get there, can't work on account of a disability which might be helped if I could afford health care, yeah, we're the problem all right, you douchbag.

Actually it was more than that. The dollar fell in value. 5 dollars in 1950 would be more like 30 today. Then there were the wars, reaganomics, and people like Trump raising rents to untenable levels. It used to be cheap to live in New York, for example. Now that single studio is gonna run you 7000 a month

Asbestos in homes wasn't a problem for the inhabitants. The final product in homes didn't typically give off dust. Asbestos is dangerous for miners, manufacturers, and home builders/remodelers. But if you have asbestos in your house just covering up would make it totally safe.

I just hate this one. I get that learning another language is good and all, but if you live where only one language is spoken, can drive for 6 hours in every direction and still have that be the only language spoken, why would I learn another language? Even if I learned another language I would lose it from not using it at all.

Doesn't it depend on what you want from life to some extent? There are jobs, even home-based ones, that require more than one language. It opens doors to other opportunities and by learning one language, people would then realise if they have an aptitude for learning others, becoming multi-lingual and using that for some amazing career or travel. Perhaps it should be one of those subjects that are an option, rather than a requirement?

Was in the workforce 1990-2019. Number of people I saw "promoted from within" in 29 years: 2. Every other job, including C levels at three companies, were hired in. I'd say I don't think the world they remember exists any more, but over time I came to wonder if it ever existed at all.

Yes, they take down one big game, then a few days later others in the group go out to get another. The majority then gather fruits etc, potter around cutting up meat, making stews and roasts, stoking camp fires, with hours in between of not much to actually do, maybe brush away some old threshing and webs, fix a patch of roofing here and there no rush,

It makes sense when you think about it. With all the things we are learning about the brain and the prefrontal cortex maturing at the age of 25, putting off any sort of recreational d**g as long as possible will help the brain in that process. At the same time an army wants to be able to shape a mind to be able to kill so getting them at 18 when the brain is more fungible makes sense.

    BeesEelsAndPups

10 months ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

That's not exactly correct. Serfs didn't have their own fields per se, as they were bound to the soil owned by their lord, and were in effect slaves. They could earn money by working in additional labor, but the crops they grew were all owned by the lord, and it was up to their lord how much of the food was available to them. Peasants were free serfs, but still did not own their land. Instead they rented the lord's land, and paid their lord either through labor, or directly by selling their crops. They wouldn't have been asked to work on holidays though, as that would have been heretical. It was also possible for peasants to buy land outright, but this was less common as land was very expensive. HOWEVER, there were artisan and merchant classes who did own land, usually in village centers. Often these were small plots of land, not suitable for farming, although some artisans and merchants became quite wealthy. Sometimes far wealthier than the nobility.

Oh my ... first, you don't brag about IQ, regardless of how high it is. Second, it only provides a very limited, one-dimensional assessment of a multidimensional process, so it's content of information is limited, and even meant to be. The information about it is about you, and may make you understand yourself better. Third, you understand what you're bragging about, or rather just don't, as it usually makes you appear really stupid to brag about ... well, that...

My mom (80 years old) got pissed off at me the other day and screamed "I WISH I'D NEVER ADOPTED YOU!" which is extra hilarious because like... you usually have to go to a LOT of extra effort to adopt a child vs letting biology do its thing (assuming normal fertility.) It was also hilarious because she sounded like a snotty teenager yelling "YOU'RE NOT MY REAL PARENTS!!" (incidentally, I have NEVER said that to either of my adoptive parents, because they ARE my real parents.) It also really hurt. Nearly 43 years down the line, she can still cut me to the quick by telling me I'm just white trash like my biological parents and will never be good enough.

Which is funny, because Timothée Chalamet has aged about 10 years in just about 3 years.

Somewhat related: I've heard from undertakers that all the preservatives they put in food prevent bodies from decoposing properly, so digging new graves becomes harder nowadays.

What does a body decomposing have to do with digging in the ground? This makes no sense

I kinda hate the boomer qualifier; I'm technically a boomer (identify as GenX - 1964), and am pretty tech savvy. I was just having this discussion about a colleague (~1993), who is most definitively NOT tech savvy. Maybe it's just more nuanced than age?

I hate the boomer qualifier, too. This sort of things happen across all age groups. It depends on so much more than age.

Started work at a new place in September and got told by my older colleagues that I didn't really update my files because I used ctrl-c ctrl-v to grab the file and they didn't see me physically left-click and select copy and then paste. I think they're scheduling my burning at the stake as we speak.

My being a so called boomer this post has a major trigger effect and has caused me to question my mental health, how dare you insult me like this, stop being an idiot and get on with other generations instead of putting them down and insulting them.

Meh, it doesn't bother me. It's a shortcut, like calling someone a Karen or Chad. As long as I don't act like an "OK, Boomer..." person, then I know they're not talking about me, so why should I get my knickers in a twist over it? And yes, I'm a baby boomer, *and* I have a first name that is (admittedly rarely but not never) used as a derogatory term, before y'all start dogpiling me.

Before we make this a "boomer" issue, let's not forget which generations were involved in the development and growth of computing. Ctrl-C + Ctrl-V probably predate menu options (I recall them or similar in the 80s)

I would have to choose mommy issues, as to my knowledge, Jordan Petersen, even though a wrong-headed buffoon, is not a seggs trafficking grape-ist who also has his male friends give him hand or mouth relief when he doesn't want to deal with women, who he has no respect for.

Y'all still really think not renting is the way. Who pays when you gotta replace your hot water heater? Wasn't me last week. Which is good considering I don't have five grand to blow on one atm and we're in the middle of a polar vortex...

The $400/month I’m saving by paying a mortgage instead of renting can go a long way to pay for a$800 water heater with installation. Who quoted five grand to you?
