Birds are some of the most amazing creatures that grace our planet. They are the only species that have feathers and one of the few that freely soar the sky. On top of many other unique characteristics, their little curious and intelligent personalities resemble those of humans, which apparently makes them the perfect material for memes.
The Instagram account “Unpopular Birds” is a hub of avian memes that kindly share them with anyone who appreciates quality bird content. Scroll down to find posts where these feathered friends stole the show, and make sure to upvote the ones that made your day chirpier!

I hope no birds were hurt whilst they were being deposited in these makeshift hammocks.
This is sun conure, and conure sometime sleep in this way, nobody make them sleep like this.
Load More Replies...Most unique colored bird I have ever seen! Beautiful colors in nature! 😊
Scientists have noticed that individual birds and other animals, even if they’re the same species, have their own unique personalities.
Researchers can determine this by looking at consistency in behavior. They observed that when a bird is aggressive, they’re consistent in the way they do it. Canadian-English evolutionary biologist and physiologist George John Romanes also discovered that avians can be prideful or experience terror.
as well as cats. cats eat more birds than dogs and are more skilled at catching birds as well.

They do! Can anyone play this? I wonder what it sounds like on the piano. Hmm🤔
It definitely does look like sheet music! It reminds me of the show American Band Stand! It’s got a good beat and it’s easy to dance to. I’ll give it a 93! 🎶 🎼
The comic Peanuts had Snoopy playing his piano with his version of "birds-on-wires" many years ago (1960s?) . . .! I really hate Photoshopped c**p now days. . .! :-(
Previously, science was hesitant to embrace the idea that animals might have personalities, as it’s difficult to objectively evaluate what animals feel and how it might be linked to their mood and personality. Luckily, this view has changed and researchers are looking more creatively at animal personalities.
For example, Renée Duckworth, a professor of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Arizona, has done research on bluebirds to demonstrate how they have individual stresses and personalities and how it affects their ecology and lifestyle.
Oh! This is lovely. A genuinely full embrace. Very cool. It never ceases to amaze me, how willingly animals work to communicate with us in a way we will understand, yet so often, humans don't give them the same courtesy. Buck Branaman, a true horseman IMO, said, "it isn't the horses job to understand us, it is our job to understand them." I try and translate this to all animals, and yet, over and over, I find myself falling short and that the animals I have the privilege of sharing my life with, tend to meet me more than halfway. I am truly fortunate.
Swans do not hug. Swans strangle. Swans are cold, heartless murderers. (swans scare me. They will intentionally drown u.)
When you still love your pet when it's shaped like speghett...That's amore!
Interestingly enough, observations and findings on bird personalities have even inspired a personality test for humans called D.O.P.E. The acronym stands for dove, owl, peacock, and eagle. The personality test uses avians to categorize human personalities into four types. It claims that “by understanding which bird personality type you align with, you gain insight into your natural inclinations, strengths, and areas for growth.”
I knew about the 270degree twist, but that head flipping over thing is kind of neat.
I often wish I could do that to the world just to see if it makes more sense flipped on it's head!

Avians were chosen for this test because the creators believe that “birds, diverse in species and habits, are an excellent metaphor for the diversity of human personalities.” One of the personalities a person can get by completing this test is a dove. A symbol of peace, they associate doves with nurturing and caring. People whose personality type is dove are compassionate, caring individuals who often sacrifice their own needs for the sake of others.
Because he's an owl. That's like 97% of what they do in life. :)

I have the same problem with mourning doves. (Pretty pigeons, ugly chickens, we have all kinds of nicknames) They get terrified if I look at them but they tap, peck, on the window if there is no food. I thought the blue jays were annoying and I don’t mean Toronto.
Collared doves used to fly round my childhood house looking for someone to go and put food on the bird table. They used to tap on the window. When the house was sold there was a clause in the contract the birds must be fed.

“Doves thrive in harmonious relationships and excel at offering emotional support. They are excellent listeners, and their warmth and compassion make them the ideal friends and confidants. Their inclination to prioritize the needs of others mirrors the traits of individuals characterized as doves in this test. Much like the bird, these personalities thrive in harmonious relationships and excel in providing emotional support,” the D.O.P.E. website writes.
Here in the Netherlands we call them "kerkuilen" Which translates as "church owls"
In french, we call them "chouette effraie", from the verb "effrayer" (to scare)!
Load More Replies...Next up are the owls, who are the intellectual and analytical minds of the ton. Such individuals are equipped with logical thinking and are detail-oriented. They thrive in structured environments where their problem-solving skills can really shine through. “They meticulously plan and adore gathering and analyzing information. They are often the go-tos for advice and solutions in their social circles,” the website reads.
We went to the national aviary in Pittsburgh and got to hold an owl. It was insane how light they were and how long their legs were. Also disgusting when the dude fed it a mouse head while my husband held it and it squirted brains! Ah, the circle of life. IMG_5944-6...2-jpeg.jpg
Baby owls. Adult owls sleep upright, but when they are owlets, their heads are too heavy, so they sleep in the sploot position.
It's usually baby owls who do this, because their heads are too heavy and they need to rest.
Reminds me of some graffiti I saw near Chicago: "Your tax $$$ are being spent on brown paint. LOL."

And in this context, I believe taxpayer is one word, not two.

i an Canadien and I approuve this taxes spending. loll Go Ducky!!
Nobody did their research on that. There was one we could have rented for $200.
The third personality type is the peacock, which is associated with creativity and social confidence. They love to be the center of attention and are full of energy and enthusiasm. “Peacocks are often drawn to careers in the arts and entertainment, where their expressive and colorful personalities shine.”
Based on the ducks I have raised, I'm guessing that water was fresh and clean about 45 seconds ago. /J
Seen this so many times, but I chuckle and 'aaaw' in equal measure every time!
The last one is the eagle, which mirrors assertive and goal-driven people. “They are natural leaders who take charge and make things happen. Confidence is their trademark, and they have an unwavering commitment to achieving their goals. Eagles thrive in competitive environments, setting ambitious targets and relentlessly pursuing them,” D.O.P.E. writes.
When you've been to twenty shops and cannot find the right shoes for the perfect look!
Me going to check the mail post pandemic but still making sure I have pants on.
It is not too short, Dad! All the other chicks are wearing their skirts this way!
Looks like a Shrike - they like to impale their prey on spikey trees for later dining..
The website notes that the purpose of this personality test is to help people understand themselves better instead of seeking to define them with a one-dimensional personality type. This is interesting because, for a long time, we thought that birds don’t have personalities and now we are starting to compare our personalities to them!
They are polite! I also have a Lutina Cockatiel (names Sunny) and he is a love bug. He sings to me and talks to me, and really low maintenance. I liken him to the bird version of a Labrador.
Cats and kids do far more damage than almost anything else. I've rented enough before with both and my kids caused so much more damage than any animal ever did. The cats like to pee everywhere but the litter box in rentals. No idea why because they used the box in our own home.
Hey, hey now! What gives? I thought the title of this post was bird memes to make you chuckle...it went dark so quickly here...
There’s a great book about pigeons, called ‘Superdove’! You’ll never think about them the same way again, really terrific birds.

Bald eagles have a 5.9 to 7.5 foot wingspan. They are very very impressive in person. (Source: had one follow me home when I was walking my snack sized dog)
Wow, that must’ve been quite the “HOLY 💩!!” experience! lol They are HUGE, BEAUTIFUL & INTIMIDATING in person!! There’s a (protected) nest of them on an island in a mountain river where I kayak. Their nest is big enough for several people to sleep in! I love to watch them fish! Glad you got your dog home safely!

Welcome to the Australian sulphur crested cockatoo. They have been known to destroy houses that they like the taste of.
And also open rubbish bins with bricks on top to get to the contents. They’re as smart as a young child.
Load More Replies...Chickens can float. They can sort of swim in the sense they can awkwardly flap / wiggle / move themselves through the water. I have not seen a chicken voluntarily enter the water. (But maybe someplace where it is super hot??) Source - observing my chickens / my pond - a time or two one ended up in the pond. They didn't sink but they definitely got out as fast as they awkwardly could. (Rhode Island Reds if breed matters)
And knees. A penguin would be twice as tall if it straightened its knees.
Say 'who' again, I dare you, I double dare you fotherm*ucker, say "who" one more dodgamn time!
I thought these were meant to be bird memes. But I only see bananas. I feel scammed.
They're becoming smarter every day...soon we will have to bow to our bird overlords
The cat is Photoshopped (compare the shadows of the goose neck and the cat's tail)
Ok wtf BP I can’t finish reading the f*****g thread. Your f*****g ads are in the way
I have to subscribe and pay now to see all the posts? I already subscribed, to a free newsletter. You are really stretching it to think ppl will pay $3 a month for censured content. If this is the case, cancel my subscription. Jesus, ads are one thing, but BP, your content is not worth paying for. Over half of what I see on BP is all over Social Media for free! You want us to pay to see a post someone scraped off Reddit or FB or X? Are you compensating the OP? Too funny 🤣🤣🤣
BP has been trying to become a trash media for a while now by trying to compete with American tabloid sites but without success. They are starting to realize that it is not working and therefore decide to make access paid without understanding that the content offered is really poor.
