There are very few things more relatable in life than food and cooking. After all, we all eat! There’s no way to get around that fact. That’s why it’s such a good topic for memes—it already resonates with people on a fundamental level.
Today, we’re featuring some of the most hilarious memes featured on the ‘Famished Club’ Instagram account. They’re witty, some of them hit a bit close to home (cleaning up after cooking, ew), and they’re making us hungrier than we care to admit. Bored Panda got in touch with the team behind the popular 'Famished' brand, and they were kind enough to answer our questions. Scroll down for our interview with chief executive officer Abhi Chatterjee and chief marketing officer Moses Albo.

We were very curious to find out more about the roots of the 'Famished' brand. "The inspiration for Famished comes from growing up in an immigrant family where I watched my parents build a community through food," CEO Chatterjee told Bored Panda via email.
"Now, Famished leverages tech to help small restaurants engage directly with their diners, ditching hefty third-party fees. After all, we feast with our eyes first—Famished is your go-to for culinary inspiration and your next food adventure."
Meanwhile, CMO Albo had this to say about the inspiration behind the meme-focused Instagram account. "We love food and we love memes, the decision was only natural. Memes are the voice of our generation, it’s how we communicate. What better way to merge both than creating a place on Instagram for us to laugh about food."
According to Albo, food and cooking memes resonate with so many people because it's such a fundamental part of our lives. "Everybody has got to eat! Who doesn’t like food? Name one person on this planet who doesn’t like food."
Albo told Bored Pand that "only the dankest memes survive," adding that the internet users following 'Famished' are also big fans of 'deep fried' and vegan memes.
We were curious to hear what advice the 'Famished' team would give someone who's completely new to cooking and having a hard time. Chatterjee, the CEO, had this to say: "Start with easy dishes to build your confidence. Read the recipe first—it’s like a mini roadmap for your cooking adventure."
In the meantime, if things don't turn out 'perfect,' we really shouldn't worry. "Every meal is a chance to learn something new or an opportunity to make fun of yourself! Learn the basics and remember, cooking is more about having fun and experimenting. So, turn up your favorite songs and enjoy the process," Chatterjee said.

The ‘Famished’ project is quite well known on social media. On Instagram, the company’s account boasts 189k followers. Meanwhile, another 17k internet users follow its page on Facebook. Though the company itself deals with food delivery orders, it uses its social media presence to brighten up everyone’s day with funny memes. And these pics are iconic! You’ve likely seen them pop up on your social media feed at some point.
Luck plays a massive part in any content going viral on the internet. Though experience with content creation can help you notice trends and shifts in popular culture, it’s still impossible to know for sure which pics your audience will resonate with and which ones will get ignored.
With that in mind, the more consistent you are with your posting schedule, the better your chances of slowly building up a following.
Even great memes can end up being sidelined because your fave social media platform’s algorithm got an update or you simply shared your post while your core audience was asleep or distracted.
However, there are some things that you can do to improve the quality of your memes to up your chances of getting them noticed in the vast expanse of the World Wide Web.
Something that all content creators should focus on is visual clarity and fluency. Memes tend to work best when they’re punchy and compact. So, you want to use high-quality images and easily readable fonts.
On the flip side, if you go for low-quality (‘noisy’) pics and overly complex fonts, your audience might simply skip past your meme because it takes too much effort to understand what’s going on.

Could they be gene modded avocados? My experience with avocados supports the buttery and nutty flavor, but I stopped eating strawberries some years back when they replaced real strawberries with these huge beautiful things that had absolutely no sweetness or flavor. No sugar or flavor no attracting bugs, no spoilage, but not real food. Gene mod foods should be banned.

First time I ate North American Bison, the taste of grass was phenomenal. Immediately become used to it and enjoy from then on.
I get about 10 pounds of grind a year from the BLM/USDA population unit manager. Tacos and spaghetti are my go-to's with bison. Just because it's so lean....I tend to grind my goats for the same reason.

Someone hasn't had compressed wet grass. It does taste very vegetal, but too buttery. I do love it with some hot sauce in the middle.

Avocados are one thing but a good guacamole is on a whole other level
I have made guacamole for my vegetarian ex, but they smell so gross that I cannot convince myself to even try them. I had to run the stove fan & cover my nose with a damp cloth, the smell is disgusting!!
Add a hard boiled egg, pressed garlic, salt and white pepper, and some lemon juice. Many people also eat it with bits of tomato mashed in. *Then* spread it on toast. It's a different experience entirely.
I used to feel the same,and then I woke up one day with a craving for avocados and it hasn't let up since. Maybe I had a stroke? *shrug*

No offense to avocado/guacamole afficionados out there, but......why? Believe me, I've tried to find something good to say about the aforementioned foods. I.....just can't.
Hass avocados - that show what stage of ripeness they are - are the bomb. The ones shown here - Sheppards, I think - are horrible, and should be fed to whatever vegetarian animal can't complain about it.
Oh don't worry. It's an absorber, like rice or egg or tofu. Doesn't taste great on its own, and instead acts as a vessel for whatever spices you put on it.
Not an avocado person, but I can't get past the texture to know if I like the taste. And growing up we never had guacamole, so I don't know if I like that or not either.
I love avocados.. I don't understand why people find them so repulsive.
As avocados do not have much taste, I use them instead of margarine in sandwiches in summer. Works well.
An old name for them was Midshipman's Butter. On long sea journeys butter would run out, and midshipmen would be the first to lose butter rights. But avocado was a substitute if the ship was in the right area

Hass avos are pretty bland. We moved into a house with two trees and their flavor immensely nutty and delicious.
I love them but the quality can be variable. Sometimes they've clearly had too much water.
Similarly, if your memes have walls and walls of text in them, you’re probably going to lose the majority of your audience. Not many people have the time or attention span to read long chunks of text when the main point is for the pic to be lighthearted and comedic.
The shorter the text, the clearer the message—the better. At the core of memes lies the idea of shorthand communication. Longform content is generally antithetical to meme culture.
Well Japanese cheesecake is the absolute bomb so I can't even begin to imagine these pancake pillows!

Though posting memes is supposed to be all about fun, it’s easy to get burned out if you look at it like a full-time job. It really helps if you enjoy the topic that you focus on in the content. Your audience is also likely to notice that passion. Meanwhile, if you’re only posting things for the likes, views, comments, and engagement, you might struggle to keep it up in the long run.
If you care about standing out from the crowd online, then you should spend a bit of time researching your competitors. Look at the type of content that the biggest meme social media accounts post.
What formats are the most popular right now? What memes do internet users tend to react the most positively to? In short, try to do things at least as well as your competitors… but embracing innovation and improving on what they do is a great way to carve out a niche for yourself.
Even though our sense of humor might change over the years and decades (have you tried looking at some memes from the 2010s recently?), some topics will always be in vogue.
Food, work problems, parenting challenges, relationships, money worries, chronic exhaustion, nostalgia, and rewarding ourselves with little snacks—these are all core parts of the human experience. They won’t be going anywhere, even as the world around us changes.

Memes will survive as long as there are people who share popular ideas, opinions, and cultural attitudes with one another. But the format of those memes is bound to change time and time again.
So, even if we’re still laughing at food memes 20 years from now, they’re likely to look very different. Who knows, we might all be chuckling at how our fully sentient AI-powered personal chefs refuse to cook anything that’s bad for our health, so we have to hide our cheeky snacks from them!
